  1. dont be fooled by surf temps too much this time of year. it can be a very thin layer of warmer water on top that can change quickly by sun/wind/current
  2. found the best price for my xj came from uhaul. :donno: had it on and wired in an hour.. no issues
  3. well... we gotta pay for these gm & chrysler bailouts somehow right? i've been noticing more speed traps lately too..

    nope

leechman: it's a particular strain of trout. we do get 'em in silver bullet form as well - this year the big guys/gals were darker specimens.
  5. no. 1 rod/angler on gbay.
  6. cheap, mass produced, plastic lure.. it'll happen.
  7. continue with what works! if you make a few passes over the same area trolling and pick up fish, by all means, drop a jig down.
  8. it simply lost its mojo
  9. unless you've a big boat, they'll get in the way casting too, wayne. bad idea all around if you ask me.
  10. i think you are pretty much in the clear. if the dealer is safetying it means the car will have to be to canadian spec (ie. DRLs etc)
  11. i'd recommend NOT standing them up vertically. they'll get in the way. the pic efka posted is neat but wont work with 8'+ muskie rods when we fish muskie, there can be about 10-12, maybe even more rods on board. one guy has his laid out with the butts on the trolling motor platform, reels hanging over the casting deck and the tips pointing out past the windshield. they aren't going anywhere unless it's really rough. then just pull them off the trolling motor platform. the other guy has his on top of the rod lockers tips hanging off the transom. seems to work well enough for us and sometime we're like a tackle shop on water.
  12. ball bearing swivels do a much better job avoiding line twist compared to barrel style. they are a bit more $$$ however, and nothing will avoid it altogether. not sure i understand the big deal of putting a swivel directly on the lure, you guys run fluoro/mono leaders anyway right?
  13. what about the walleye?
  14. yes it will kemper, if you take the breathalyzer shortly after even having a 1oz shot there's a chance you will blow over. this is why the police ask how long since you've had your last drink, to give you a 'cooling off' period. i think the biggest problem is that people don't know what exactly 0.05 means in terms of how many drinks in a given time frame for a given height/weight means. i admit i did once blow in the 'warning' zone after having 4 beers over about 2 hours plus about an hr of water before i drove. i thought i was fine to drive but the breathalyzer said nay. the penalty at that time was the aforementioned 12hr suspension and i contributed to the econmony by having to get my vehicle towed then taking the ttc to retrieve my license.
  15. i hope the surgery goes well tb. i can't offer advice as my case was different - that knee is a pretty complicated piece of us. the doctor told me the 'good' news was that I didn't appear to damage the meniscus and could likely avoid surgery. recovery for me was in the vicinity of 7-8 wks.
  16. what happened to her knee? i tore my anterior cruciate ligament (inside of knee). unfortunately, it did take a long time to heal but i was able to get around with a knee brace that kept the leg/knee locked.
  17. hey holdfast thanks for showing us a tour of the town, always appreciate seeing a new place
  18. "ya shoulda been here yesterday"
  19. go goretex or go home. try mail order. the $20 rainsuits are priced appropriately, they will tear on you and you'll sweat your balls off

we don't fish trout other than right at ice out or the odd time when a meal is appropriate. so the roe is of no use to us. when filleting, you can either cut around the rib cage or go through it then cut out the bones. they'll come off in one piece. a sharp knife is key. Not this time. JP treated us to a spicy maple syrup concoction on the BBQ that I am still drooling over. it was dynomite!

  22. when I say they don't exist, i really mean they don't exist. paper OR electronic. i'd love for you to prove me wrong but it's not going to happen. the park map will show you topographical information and there is also a topographical map available but nothing with depth contours. the river below the dams can vary by many many feet depending on how much water they're letting out of nippissing, perhaps that is the reason.
  23. don't waste your time. other than the upper around nippissing, there are no charts for the french all the way out to georgian bay.
  24. what's a vcr?
  25. wayne, you need your prescription checked. re: "gals"
