  1. on a related note, i need an alternative to AVG. I went back to v7.5 after I found v8.0 to be a resource hog. it would peg CPU utilization at 100% too often, especially at startup, for minutes at a time. unacceptable. problem is, avg is dropping updates for 7.5 mid-april. so what's a good alternative?
  2. the complaint with people who use small (pike sized) jerkbaits like husky jerks is that a swivel, wire/fluoro, snap combination kills the action of the baits due to the weight of the hardware. i don't get that problem with mine plus its cheaper and i can make a leader any length i want.
  3. i think i'd rather pay rent! looks great. nicely done.
  4. strictly tow in D no OD. been told by many a mechanic to do so. i would rather spend the extra few bucks in fuel than a rebuild. my jeeps only a 4.0L and i pull a boat/trailer combo that's probably in excess of 2500lbs loaded. do miss a 5spd and wish my jeep was a standard though. not easy to find when buying used, slushboxes are usually all that's available.
  5. I'll have to try that one Ric. I know the uni to uni is not recommended for lines of greatly different diameters but I haven't had any issues and landed some big pike on that setup. glad someone remembers that Snag
  6. try a lighter
  7. what kind of topwater you basically have straight retrieve, poppers and walk the dog style. each are used differently.
  8. You are welcome I'd encourage the bass guys who fish on pike/muskie lakes with jerkbaits and get bit off to try my way of adding the leader. I know you guys don't like using heavy wire/swivels because it kills the action of jerkbaits - this solves that I think. ohh.. and I think I'll call it the Raf Leader™
  9. wire will be fine, 60# fluoro will be fine. i personally don't like titanium leaders and prefer regular wire. in my experience titanium frayed and broke.
  10. What do you plan on throwing using these leaders? They will be too heavy and hinder the action of pike-sized jerkbaits (ie. husky jerks) My advice to you is to pick up a spool of 45-60lb fluoro and make the leaders yourself. Here's what I do for pike & jerkbaits. Using 50lb braid mainline and 50lb fluoro leader material Uni to Uni knot Perfection loop + small snap or split ring no swivel. I get great action out of jerkbaits. if you are going to throw spinners/spoons, you will need a swivel.
  11. yep working on my nexus too.

  20. sounds good randy. makes me want to put an exhaust on the jeep and a turbo + vented blow off valve & downpipe. ahhhh... someone slap me
  21. been relaxing in the yard and i think i saw an oriole today. i'm not a bird expert, waiting for him to come back with camera in hand. 18" of ice on simcoe yesterday though, some time before open water.
  22. nice goin' brian my 'success' isnt as dramatic but my goals were a bit different. i went from about a 34-36" waist to about a 32" while gaining 10-15lbs and a whole bunch on my lifts. diet and weights. it's not hard!
