  2. as a fellower heeper (XJ) i've noticed it too. noticed it in my former vehicles as well.
  3. that's great holdfast, really is. you've done the world a great service and thanks for that you gotta realize however, there's more than one way to club a seal. what's right for you may not be what's right for me. there's no shame with being on EI in times of need - we've all payed into it and it's designed to be a safety net. imposing your morals/ideals makes you no different than some of the dictatorships we've been fighting against. honor, integrity, sense of duty to oneself and family are all important virtues but one doesn't need the armed forces for that.
  4. yes.. if you mean CSC-70MHA and they have a lefty citica ohh and you might as well buy two because combo #1 in your list will become obsolete
  5. I would stick with a fast tip and spool the reel with minimum 30lb.. 7' MH is one of the better all-round rods you can have.
  6. have a look at a 7' MH, brand doesn't really matter - I'm a St. Croix (Triumph series is inexpensive but a good rod) guy but the rod I have in this class is a Fenwick HMG. Shimano Clarus are also nice without breaking the bank. Go to a store and see which one feels good to you. Spend more money on a reel than rod when going baitcasting. Shimano Curado or Citica would likely be a good choice. If you can find an old style Curado (green ones) used you'll save yourself a few bucks on possibly one of the best reels ever built in this class. a 7' MH might be slightly lite for the really thick stuff but a 7'+ H slop rod will definately be too heavy for little jerkbaits like the xrap. So I say go for the MH - it will work. Either way spool the reel of your choice with 30 to 50lb braid and when first learning to use a baitcater, start with heavier lures and line. (easier to cast heavy lures and easier to pick out backlashes - until you get the hang of it - in thicker line)
  7. they're both diseases!
  8. you can now buy absinthe legally in Canada and the US. select LCBOs carry it. it was re-legalized in the last few years and yes, it's the real deal. with thujone content. although i've yet to "see" anything (or go blind), paint a masterpiece and/or lop an ear off.
  9. he drank a lotta absinthe
  10. unpossible can't name just 3.
  11. they are bottom feeders.. eating crustaceans and other junk. unfortunately, their numbers are very small on nippissing these days and there's a moratorium on angling for them. (ie. no fishing for them at all)
  12. nicely done Doug.
  13. if you really want to 'free' up those baits try switching the trebles out for single siwash too. works great for extra wobble on those j-series rapalas.
  14. re-read those regs musky or specks, specifically around the forks of the credit area of the credit. single point, non-organic, etc. etc. ....or you can always take your chances & find out the hard way
  15. it's an exception boys. some areas (ie. upper credit river) explicitly state single (one point), non-barbed hook only. no trebles (three points). personally i don't think it's such a bad thing, we've gone to single siwash hooks on all our spring trout lures (body baits, spoons & spinners). the baits run better in my opinion and it makes release that much easier. trout and trebles are like velcro i've found. to the original poster, unless the treble is on a split ring, you can't remove it without cutting the treble. what dave524 said about the single siwash' is correct, they are still around. they come with the eye open so you can put it on your lure and squash it. don't forget to file down the barb.
  16. hows about we just call 'em "dinner fish" eh Andy?
  17. aikman's carries quantum parts not sure about rocky's. having said that, get a daiwa spinning!
  18. i got tired of bellyaching so i joined 'em. been enjoying watching my resource funds go up and up lately.
  19. this thread has gone from silly to stoopid.
  20. i) no it wont damage guides ii) no need to cut off at rod. if using baitcaster hold spool with thumb and pull straight back without bending rod. you'll either straighten hooks or break the line at the knot. if using spinning, wrap the line around a glove (or stick or whatever you have that isn't exposed skin) and pull. you'll either straighten hooks or break the line at the knot.
  21. chalk it up to experience, toss it and remember to buy quantum, abu, shimano or another established brand next time pete. aikmans might be able to fix it for you but not sure if he'd have the right parts. cant hurt to ask.
  22. if ya cant beat 'em, join 'em (invest in oil)
