  1. i could barely see your son with the camo cast wrap thingy.. that's awesome. your wife has some skills too. looks like a great time with the family regardless of what the weatherman had in store. well done
  2. believe it or not, people caught fish before the internet they typically put in some leg work; had their share of successes and failures but eventually, found their own little holes try it sometime.
  3. a lot of you are confusing the area this guy's fishing (bala) with the moon river basin. clofchick, anything from woods/arnolds bays out to the big water is provincial park and fees apply.
  4. their warranty is excellent although you have to factor in that you will need to $$$hip the item back to them both money and time wise. also, some of their house brand reels are actually daiwa and/or okuma rebadged. i have a cabelas dipsy rod that i've been using for a few years as well as their guidewear goretex rain suit. good stuff on both counts. ps. dont tell canada customs you were at cabelas. seems they are aware the store carries guns and will become very inquisitive.
  5. i've been to a couple and cabelas blows bps out of the water every way possible. i'd trade that vaughan bps location plus tomas kaberle for one. the nearest one i believe would be in michigan.
  6. i've yet to rec'v one. other than from my provider (which are free). there'll be hell-to-pay if people get spammed and they pay for each incoming text.
  7. i gave up on land lines many moons ago.. only use cellular. so, i have to ask, what are telemarketing calls?
  8. buy an eagle/lowrance. sounds like it's a problem of internals. probably nto worth fixn.
  9. i used to use avg but the v8.0 became a resource hog.. i think they are on v8.5 now maybe they resolved it or maybe they bloated it even more. regardless, i don't run any anti-virus software anymore and you certainly don't need it as some suggest. just be smart about things and you'll be okk.
  10. can we get a separate light bulb forum pls?
  11. 25hp is 25hp, whether it's from a 2, 4 or 2000 stroke engine. there may be small differences in where in the powerband (rpm) power is made and 2 strokes typically make more torque earlier in the rpm band (quicker to get on plane) but let's ignore that for now. the big difference lies in power to weight ratio. take a 3000lb 200hp car and race it against a 2000lb 200hp one, everything else being equal - which one will win?
  12. I think I agree with Dara, in the small motor class, unless you're finding the 4str at a great bargoon I would go 2. I dont believe there's a huge fuel savings in these small motors.
  13. i would say no. today's 4 cyls are torqueless, gutless wonders that need to be revved in order to make any kinda power. definately not designed for towing anything that a small trailer.
  14. we may or may not.. we come in from the outside and stay on the outside. don't venture too often into woods.
  15. they are good value for the money. period. are they as 'good' as st. croix, shimano, etc etc, probably not but they don't cost as much either.
  16. Drifter, ERC, Legend AC makes a great baitfish crankbait.
  17. when it comes to topwater colour really dosen't matter as long as it's black
  18. leafs made the move from poop to mediocrity. so what else is new? at least they'll earn the $$$ for 2+ playoffs games this year.
  19. Very sorry to hear Wayne, sincere condolences.
  20. couldnt figure it out. bowfin maybe? it kinda looked like a catfish skull but the teeth had me puzzled.
  21. google and learn the 'leech lake lip lock', if you don't have a net, probably the best way to control a big fish. i'm not sure tailing a big fish like taht is even possible. pike & muskie usually settle down when you grab them like that. you can leave most of the fish in the water and even if they do decide to thrash a bit you've got good control of them. if you're dealing with a smaller fish just grab them behind the head behind the gills. careful with the small ones, they are the ones that usually get ya http://globalflyfisher.com/fishbetter/pike_landing/
  22. osprey diet:
  23. there's a few pairs of balds on the other side of the lake from you jocko, down in the french r. valley. nice to see more and more of them. good pics.
  24. another thing to keep in mind, gbay fishing is not at all like lsc fishing where they are on open water - an application perfectly suited to boards. to consistently catch fish on the bay, you generally have to be on the structure, banging away on the rocks & weeds. having a board would just make that a headache, imo. unless you want to venture into the world of topwater trolling . but give her a whirl (and sell me those boards after for spring trout fishing ) HH, a 10" believer fights way better than any 2lb walleye & there's no comparison between a stretch 30.
