    LINE

doesnt matter. when ice fishn i just want to be able to see the line myself to watch for bumps etc. people get waay to caught up in line colour imo.
  3. can't go wrong with any of the suggestions.. pick up the rods and figure out which ones feels best to you and the wallet i pretty much use st. croix premieres exclusively from lengths of 6'9 to 8'6" and prefer them over the compres. the legends are too much $$$ for me. okuma has a muskie line too, evx or something along those lines.. i have the 8'6 and it's a great rod for the price (cheaper than compres or premieres)
  4. wire for muskies on the shield is a great tool. Allows you to get down 20-30' with only 40-60' of wire out. Pretty darn close to a 2:1 line-out to depth ratio with the big deep runners like plows & lunge lockers. Makes putting your bait on the structure much easier.
  5. trout/salmon guys use 7-strand wire with their dipsy divers and dipsy rods 9'6"+ we run single strand for muskie in the fall using el cheapo 7' muskie rods that have a softer tip. tip can be the coil door stopper from your bathroom.. or you can spend the $5 for a real twilly. haywire twist is a popular knot.
  6. if it's so wrong why is it on wfn.tv ? she's obviously promotional eye candy and it doesnt appear to bother her. keep your morality to yourself and don't click on the link. btw, thanks for pointing it out otherwise, i would've missed it.
  7. we did really well last year with homemade double #13 colorado bladed bootails.. approx. 15-16" long. a 15-16" trout is a nice light snack for a 50" muskie. this year we're gonna try #16 blades. they are not something you can cast all day (get in the gym now) but definately pick your spots. they also require specialized tackle (even more so than typical muskie gear). st. croix has an 8'6" extra heavy and I use it along with an Abu 7001 C3. these baits really rumble and move a ton of water. in highly pressured waters I think throwing something at them they've never felt before triggers them. these are #10 blades.. and not quite 16" so think a little bigger
  8. ahh.. the infamous ID-TEN-T error
  9. did anyone even read the question? i dont think this is a garmin vs magellan vs lowrance debate

  11. all units have WAAS problems....in canada. the waas satellites are close to the equator and we dont pick them up too well this far north. that's my understanding.
  12. some great memories captured in a unique way there guido. thanks for sharing that.
  13. i think you'll enjoy the 1000 size a lot more for that application. 2500 series reels are good all-round reels if you need them to do many things but for a specific ML application the smaller reel will be better IMO i can't comment on the stradic vs sustain

    BBP

nights are below zero - with no snow on the ice, everything tightens up. tons of ice, was like walking on concrete today on simcoe, bring creepers.
  16. when's the last time you changed your plug wires? next step in the chain after that cap & rotor if equipped
  17. fair enough.. however, how long have cassettes been around? the industry did not crumble!! people continued to make record profits. chriss' example of radiohead doing their thing is a great example of artists getting with the times! i believe david bowie and prince did similar things or gave their music away for free. get your stuff out there and the people will come.
  18. Artists *never* made any significant money from selling cds/vinyl. Majority of their income comes from touring and merchandise sales. Rec. companies on the other hand... we can do without them.
  19. sink or swim its clear the 'old way' of doing things is no longer viable. some artists have discovered they dont need a label and can produce a quality product and distribute it on the net for free. others continue to bend over for the 'man' (rec exec) and are whining. you aren't going to stop people from downloading music on the net. it's a new frontier for the brave..

  21. I had a 1st gen. 4g63 was a 6 bolt & bulletproof in that generation. crankwalk started in the 2g 7 bolt motors. poor sods left by mitsubishi to rot
  22. awd is great.. i owned the competition; mitsubishi eclipse turbo awd that wasn't stock for very long. there is a replacement for displacement - forced induction.
  23. slow slug my old turbo 4 banger made them look silly
  24. intersting topic.. when i was younger i hurt my shoulder/rotator cuff playing baseball and i am of the belief that it never healed properly. lately, that shoulder has not been feeling 100%. bench pressing seems to have aggravated the problem. someone mentioned stretching and that has helped a great deal; particulary "shoulder dislocations" - http://stronglifts.com/shoulders-dislocations/
  25. good riddance anchorpaws. moore showed to be a decent little player but not at the salary he was asking for next year. see ya!
