...which really shows how big a joke this ontario drive clean is. but i digress.
-
like i said earlier these cars will pass driveclean no problem. there's no sniffer test, just plug it into the computer and make sure no CEL -- that's basically the test. my bid starts at $1.
-
you're over thinking it.

Where's your shop John? the oil for my diesel Jeep is 100 bucks alone. I agree, not much savings typically for DYI oil changes.. my jeep might be an exception.
-
they'll all pass because the current ontario drive clean just checks the car's computer to make sure the handful of emissions devices are operating correctly. which they are. we have no sniffer test anymore and even if we did, the computer apparently knows a test is being done and switches to 'clean' mode. since the issue is with the software on the computer itself, i suspect there will be a recall that will reprogram the computer to 'fix' the software which many people will avoid doing because it will involve a negative hit to the mpg / hp. since there's no such thing as a mandatory recall and no way for the mto to know if a recall was performaed, these vehicles will remain on the road, business as usual. if they somehow mandate the recall, tdi ecus will become a hot commodity as owners will want a spare.

They can't deny a warranty claim for a blown transmission because you didn't change the cabin filter as per the maintenance schedule.... can they?

13.49 on ebay, replace it yourself.

I didn't think it was a Gbay fish. I'm not sure what the min on the kawarthas is these days, used to be 36". Like Wayne said, the CO on southern georgian bay is a real stickler for the rules, especially when it comes to 'his' fish and I can almost guarantee you'd get a ticket out there with an option to take it to the judge. Who knows who you would get at Lake 'X', maybe they'd be understanding, maybe they wouldn't. The high minimum limits are put in place exactly for the reason, nobody would keep at 54" fish. Congrats, it's a nice fish and must have been a blast out of a canoe on light tackle.

if a CO saw you pulling that fish around on a stringer and that is GB, you'd be charged with possession of an illegal fish as it's below the 54" size limit. just FYI.

...and his opponents broke a sweat blowing it up. what`s your point

he clarified his comments and this was the intended meaning: old stock = 2nd generation+ canadian ie. born in canada non-old stock = 1st generation canadian ie. born elsewhere all canadians. as a non-old stocker (born elsewhere), i don't see what the big deal and don't disagree with his comments.

33 mph feels pretty fast in my 15 footer LOL i can't imagine tickling 60 in a ranger. close to the water and barely any hull touching it.

starcraft, alumacraft and lund would be at the top of my list from what i've seen. i own a mirrocraft.

i wasn`t impressed with the LTX M+S Michelin`s either. Ok on the highway, quiet and good treadlife, but that`s about it. Not so good in the snow, rain, mud. Sorry Joe I don`t have a recommendation either. Maybe go on tirerack.com, enter your tire size and check out the reviews from someone with a similar vehicle and climate. I run an all-terrain tire in the summer (Firestone Destination AT) and a snow tire in the winter on my jeep. Passenger car gets el cheapo All Seasons and el cheapo snows -- I think they are both Sailun (sp). Not sure an all-terrain tire would be right on your vehicle and it will be a lot noisier than your typical all-season.

15' mirrocraft striker, 40 hp yamaha tiller, 33mph alone. cruises nicely at 19-21.

US gets hosed on diesel.. still cheaper than here though. never could figure why diesel is more expensive that gas in the states. 0.97-0.99 / liter around me and regular is around 1.02-1.05 / liter. it'll reverse in the winter.

nice specimens of all kinds..

make sure you're out there at before during and after sunset and any weather changes. does not hurt to look at the moon rise and fall as well. personally, the hot part of the day is miller time but i am not sure if that's for my comfort or the fish. other guys have success in the midday heat. if it's overcast, fish all day. -
my grand cherokee has it too.. pretty handy.

Alan will win, the other guy will die trying.

if you're looking for a slightly smaller dog, a cocker spaniel is a pretty good choice i think as well. we have an english cocker spaniel, great family dog (also a velcro dog), agile/athletic, intelligent (trainability wise), but he does shed. breeder we got him from trains them as gun dogs for small birds. i'd guess him around 30-35 lbs, not small but not a big either. a cockapoo spaniel/poodle cross apparently sheds much less with similar characteristics.

No I am not shying away at all, I would prefer to switch to NG but I want to make sure it makes sense $$$ - wise from an initial cost standpoint vs long term savings.

Thanks gentlemen, looks like I need to get someone in here and have a look. I'm reading that direct vent may be more desireable vs power vent because of lower cost and the fact that it will still give hot water in the event of a power outage -- not a huge deal but it'd be a nice to-have given we already have a gas stove & wood burner for heat -- we can go without power for days. Whereas as with power vent, you have an electric fan pushing the exhaust out and no power = no hot water.
