All the above advice is excellent. I have done it twice. Make sure you get the trailer vin number, make and model as u will need to get a letter from the trailer manufacturer proving their is no recall on it. Also make sure the seller has the trailer ownership papers so it can be signed over to u. U will also need proof that the boat is paid for/ has a clear title and has no lein on it and a receipt from the seller. u do not need to call ahead but you do need to declare the cash you r bringing into the states! Do not lie or fib in the slightest when crossing back into Canada. Landry

Bought in 2014 and planning on getting in 2015!

Bondar you are the man! U buy and sell a ton of high end stuff it seems. You must be single:) -
There is nothing the MNR can do. Pike and carp populations are unstoppable once in a system. They have tried on Western reservoirs to clear pike out and it was futile.
-
I no longer fish musky on the Kawarthas but pike in there concerns me. Pike hatch earlier and could possibly prey on musky fry. I don't think it will lead to bigger muskie in a lake with perch and panfish as their food base. I am guessing that pike populations lead to a thinner muskie population and therefor greater average size. It's true that true trophy waters usually have pike too but those same waters also ALWAYS have oily prey fish like shad, ciscos... I am sure genetics plays a part too - St Clair is a great example: the booming shad population has helped the musky's upper growth size or weight:) However, I doubt that St Clair fish are genetically capable of reaching record size. Man I am addicted to these fish:)

I have owned both nets. The power stow mesh tangles too much and prongs fish handling. We hated it. The power catch mesh is far better.

It will be tough getting an insured person to do it and as mentioned roofing companies will not likely want the job. Good luck to u.
-
I had same problem. I am not handy but I youtubed it and did it myself. Nobody would come out to fix it - they wanted to do the whole roof. I bought some climbing rope and borrowed a harness. Two hours and 100$. Depends how atrep your slope is though.

Bug a graph for sure. Not a lowrance elite though as they are finicky to set up for deep water laker fishing. The humminfird is a better ice choice IMO. I have the elite 5 and like it on my biat but I am not a fan of it for deep ice fishing. Someone here will tell u it can be tweaked to work well in the deep but I can tell u that the Hymminbird of a better choice. Maybe the HDS are better - have not used them.

They would not agree to any water test before it after a deposit and did not want to add conditions to the bill of sale but said they would look after him. The sales guy even said "we just sold that 139,000$ boat without a water test". That made me laugh. I am not going to name the marina as they did not screw my buddy over in any way but I would not buy from them with their current line of thinking. I think they believe it will sell as is with no conditions and they are probably right. I bought my last two boats in the states and water tested and had a mechanic due a compression test, leak down and lower unit test both times. When I sold my boat I insisted on a water test after a deal was struck so that my buyer left knowing all was good with the boat.

It seems wierd to not permit water tests on used rigs to me. My friend felt like he was gambling 10,000

Went to a marine dealer to look at a used 2006 Princecraft 165 pro with a 60 hp 4 stroke. It apparently had 60 hrs on motor but first impression said NOT. was a great price at 10,500 but it had a keel saver - on an aluminum??? and the keel had definitely taken some abuse. My buddy liked the boat but they would not let us pull off the tattered keel saver to look under it and they simply would not allow a water test?! I found this weird. They would not give any sort of leak guarantee either. Needless to say my friend passed on it. Do dealers not allow water tests typically on used boats? I think I would have more faith buying off Kijiji, water testing and getting a mechanic to test it that wasn't connected to the seller. He is determined to buy a boat by Spring - this made me very leery of using a dealer. Landry

Ha - fair enough IrishField. I teach grade six and I am very dedicated. Not all teachers are dedicated but most are - just like any profession I suppose. I do not agree with the "rest can't make it in the real world" comment though but I am sure there are some who fit that description and who only do it for the summers off. I have I no respect for the few teachers I know that role that way. Actually, I have no respect for lazy people in general, regardless of their profession. Happy fishing:)

Irishfield - I hope the "real teacher" comment wasn't a zinger aimed at me or other dedicated teachers. I am going to assume it wasn't. Creditmaster - I like your commitment and work ethic. Your generation is so tech savvy - why not sell online if u r going to specialize in less product?

My dad coached with him in Vancouver. He was a great guy. Landry

You got some very good advice here. I love your enthusiasm and passion. However: You are 14. You have a lot to learn yet about fishing, judging from your past posts and also - life. It's great to be bold, brave and confident but you have lots to learn yet before opening a small business. Your potential business model is flawed. Sorry if my honesty hurts. I am a teacher - my job requires me to be encouraging yet honest with my students. Empty compliments and encouragement can be more harmful than the blunt truth. Landry

I think Dan nailed it as he has been there and done that. If y own a store you will fish very little. If you love to fish then: - don't get married - don't have kids - get a seasonal job or work a shift like a continental shift - keep your living expenses low so u can drive, fly and fish whenever u r off work. I have broken all of those guiding rules BUT I Still love my life. Of course, because I have a serious addiction, I still wish I could fish more:) Landry

Great location. My belief is that starting small will lead to imminent failure - when I go in a store with limited stock I typically do not return.

So what's the deal with Inline Ice Reels?
landry replied to Sharkbait22's topic in General Discussion
If fishing very light and tiny jigs for panfish, then I believe that an inline reel does reduce jig spin.in clear water it appears to me that most fish prefer a non spinning jig. Of course if u quiver your hig it will hold it's positions too. I fish both types of reels and the inline wins for light stuff but it is best in 20' or less. -
That is a priceless comment. Well done:)

What r the prop specs. My friend has two new stainleaa ones for sale. His motor is a 200 opti.

It was trolling - on a super stalker 30' back. We were taking a break from casting trying to warm up. It was a lot fatter than it looks as i have its belly resting on my knee. We each got two others casting under 40" that day. Another day this fall I got 5 up to 43". The other two days I got skunked totally. Had a good summer casting with good numbers and size. Been a good year overall.

Been out musky fishing only 4 times this Fall. Been busy coaching my son's hockey team. Here is a nice thick 51" I got. Been pretty slow for me but this was a good day on the water:)
