  1. here are a few from quinte last year. nice 11 lber from early november solid 10 lber from early december gotta love double headers like this
  2. i normally eat while moving to a different spot to allow for more time spent fishing when at specific locations have everything ready prior to even getting in the boat take a good look at some depth charts or use the navionics app on my ipad to figure out locations to fish before hand so i dont waste anytime fishing bad water keep my tackle box organized so i dont waste time looking for a lure or untangling a big mess always have a back up rig so that if my main one messes up i have something already ready to use im sure there is lots more but thats all i can think of right now
  3. i start to wear mine during november and such when its gets pretty chilly. time flies and november will be here before we know it. in fact i cant wait for november!! start trolling for some monster quinte eyes and hopefully a trip or two to st clair for some serious muskie fishing.
  4. found out some more info on the fire yesterday, apparently a fire started in the garage and spread, eventually blowing up a propane tank outside the house. the house is completely gone....all that stands is the old chimney and fireplace. the houses on either side also had some damage done. not a pretty scene
  5. i got the frabill suit from gagnons last year. i absolutely love it. they also carry the ice armor ones. i did see them at basspro as well, but i only saw the blue one and they had very limited sizes. i do know they the frabill ones fit pretty big. im 6'0 - 250 lbs and the XL fits me perfect... normally i would be a XXL comfortably.
  6. hahahahahah gotcha. i missed the 1 liner the first time around. lol
  7. yikes, thats never good. i hope everyone is ok. how did you make out on the scugog???? chasing ski's im assuming?
  8. felt it at vic park and steeles. strange because i didnt feel last years but definetely felt it this year.
  9. garry2r's...he mentioned in his original post he picked up a 7'6 MH st croix muskie rod.... that rod should be able to handle any of the reels mentioned so far.
  10. abu garcia record round baitcasting reels are very nice. durable and can handle the big baits very well. i would go with the biggest size. i think its either the 60 or 61 if you reel with your left. here is the link on bps http://www.basspro.com/Abu-Garcia-Ambassadeur-Record-Round-Baitcast-Reels/product/67751/-1191149
  11. i have been stopped several times this year on scugog by both the OPP and MNR. the cops did a very thorough search, including checking my storage compartments and cooler. the mnr i see quite often now and am aware of the routine so its normally pretty painless. i barely even have to bring in my rod when mitch pulls up now, he just cruises beside me while i show him everything. on a side note i was up at my cottage on three mile lake this weekend and OPP were out in full force pulling everyone and there uncle over. I was pulled over on thursday night at 8PM!!! i saw the ticket book coming out several times after they flagged down a boater. lots of seadoo's getting pulled over too. was nice to see that
  12. i have it on several reels, definetely notice a bit better casting distance than the ppro. i do not notice the line twist however i always use a swivel. the color bleed on mine is inconsistent. on some of my reels it has turned almost white it has bled so much. on 1 of my reels it hasnt bled at all. weird. not too much of an issue for me though as i use flourocarbon leader most of the time. i havent had any line breaks and have caught 19 muskie on the one combo.. 4 over 40 inches too. seems to be pretty solid. overall impressions is that its not that much better if at all than power pro. my original impression was that it was better, but the more i use it the more and more things i notice.
  13. i had heard that the mastercraft had its light on and there was another boat that was stopped on the lake with no light on. the mastercraft was driving up the lake and ran into the boat with no lights on. horrible thing to happen. anyone on the water at night without lights on should be charged and lose there boating license. no excuse
  14. i was amazed to see the amount of boats that were lined up on the water to watch the canada day fireworks. there was definetely a few hundred boats all watching the fireworks. after the show was over it looked like mayhem on the water watching everyone trying to leave and head back up the lake. its too bad things like this have to happen. hopefully it makes everyone much more aware of what can happen out there
  15. muskoka woods - a bit pricey but an absolute amazing camp. i went every year for 2 weeks growing up and loved every minute of it. Learned lots of sports and kept busy, also met lots of cool people. there wakeboard/ski program is one of the best, kept me wanting to come back.
  16. chances are you are going to be using the rod for more than just trolling. Yes it may be the main purpose of the rod, but you mine as well get a rod you can troll and cast with. I would recommend a 7'6 Heavy action compre as well, they are great rods and very durable. Pair that up with a abu garcia C3 or if you have the coin a revo toro and your golden.
  17. wicked report man, hope to see more throughout the year. cheers
  18. beauty fish man! i dont think she is pushing 30 lbs at that length but 20 is probably a better estimate. i dont want to take anything away from your fish because it is a beautiful muskie, no matter the weight you should be pumped!! cheers dude
  19. wow that is something i have to do! maybe next year fantastic report man
  20. i put 80 lb on my revo toro, used it this weekend and had green hands after i was finished, also noticed it dripping off the reel several times. i have 40 lb on my jerkbait rod.. also noticed i had a green thumb at the end off the day. i have 10 lb on my walleye rod... didnt notice the dye although it was a spinning reel compared to baitcaster. great line though, definetely like it better than powerpro
  21. i was just think how funny it is to see the pics with his smoke hanging out of his yap. dont want to waste the smoke now. hahaha awesome pictures! looks like quite the fishery
  22. my wife has been bugging me alot lately to start having kids and even though i know they are a ton of work, seeing something like that really makes me think its all worth it. im sure your son will really appreciate all the time spent with you and enjoying the outdoors. awesome report
  23. i love bps.... was there today on my lunch break, they had everything i needed and now im stocked and ready to rock for muskie opener. if you know who to look for you will get the info you need as well, definetely some idiots working there but many very friendly and helpful people as well. as for forgetting your bps rewards card, you could have just bought your stuff and came back with the bill another time and redeemed your points. or even called customer service after the fact. if you keep an eye on the sales bps has you will come out on top everytime.
  24. i would suggest an 07 or newer Nissan Pathfinder or Xterra. i currently own an 08 xterra and the wife has 2010 Pathfinder. no issues whatsoever with either truck and im at 210,000 on the xterra already. no real issues and the only expense so far on the xterra has been the usual maintenance. prior to my xterra i owned a 2003 pathfinder...ended up with 330,000 on it before i decided to get a newer car.
