  1. hey pete, for the chip you should check out radioworld. i have the premium hot maps chip and it shows 1' contour lines etc for scugog and a majority of the kawartha lakes. i believe this chip has more inland lakes most of the chips have a list of the lakes they include and im pretty sure you can check them online to see the list of lakes they include. also for the clips im pretty sure gagnons has a bunch. maybe give them a call
  2. i have to agree completely with sinclair. i too work in an industry where my attention is required quickly on most manners. in fact if i didnt have my cell phone there would be a lot of midweek days where im fishing that i just wouldnt be able to make it happen. having my phone allows me to work when im not at work so to speak. if one of my staff or customers is having an issue i can address it immediately and ensure it is dealt with properly the first time. now there are many times when I go away for the weekend fishing or even during the week i leave my phone at home or off but its those times when i get away from the office mid week and still dont miss a beat that make things work. i also think the whole what did we do before cell phones excuse is pretty Bull , you could say that about absolutely every breakthrough in history. what did doctors do before xray machines, MRI units etc. technology is an amazing thing and it helps streamline thinks and make things more efficient. i dont agree with the whole driving while on the phone or texting at all. i think its a great law for us to have in place, but i think people need to wake up when it comes to the world we live in today and realize cell phones are apart of it all. some rely on it for work, some for pleasure, some have them and recieve 1 call a week. im on my cell phone for work some months up to 5000 minutes across North America and recieve a minimum of 100 emails a day. when in the truck i use my bluetooth thats connected to the speakers of my truck and i dont answer my texts or emails while driving. pretty simple really. i think people will get the point eventually. there is no denying having a cell phone can be extremely convenient at times as well, who the hell uses pay phones anymore anyway....most of them have been removed now and i rarely see them at all.
  3. i ordered a new princecraft with a 115 merc on it... it was supposed to be ready last week.. boat came in and is ready however the motor has been delayed. apparently should be in for next weekend but this thread has me wondering. i sure hope everything goes as planned.
  4. i never lose...end of that conversation. hahahaha
  5. its like a goldfish/crappie... lol that thing is pretty large!
  6. how does one determine how many banks you would need for the on board charger? my boat has a 24 volt bowmount trolling motor and a cranking battery at the back... so 3 batteries = 3 banks???? or because the 2 trolling motor batteries are connected does it only need 1 bank?
  7. nice haul! how big was the biggest one? looks huge
  8. i was planning on buying either a lund or princecraft this year and after recieving quotes from many marinas for both companies i settled with a princecraft. the price was much better, canadian made, nicer looking boat for the style i wanted, more features and quicker delivery date. i know princecraft has the sport which is a fish/ski model and it looked pretty good at the boat show. i went with the princecraft xpedition 170 sc as i was looking for a full on fishing boat and didnt care for the ski part. paired it up with a 115 merc 4 stroke and a 9.9 pro kicker. i get it in a week or so. i cant wait
  9. im pumped to say the least. get my new boat early april and plan on chasing some monsters in lake o as soon as i can. would be awesome to flatline and get a monster smack and hear the drag scream. i dont think i have ever been so excited to see the ice leave the lakes. normally im all about staying on the ice as long as i can.
  10. defintely some hawgs man, do you smoke the whities?
  11. quick question for you. i noticed on the spring fishing and boat show website that it states that the venue opens at 10AM on sunday... has this changed to 8 AM to accomodate the muskie canada gig?
  12. i would also agree with greg on his lure choices if your fishing the kawartha's. depending on the water your fishing, those 2 lures would change pretty often. also those 2 lures will turn into 20 and then 200 in no time...musky fishing isnt cheap. haha
  13. wormdunker....pretty sure he meant on the 400 northbound side. not necessarily the north side of the highway. lol if not than yes i agree with you he must get lost often. i would also say its a humpback creeper. caseys in port bolster is where i get mine. also for whitefish when tipped with a small tube on the back end.
  14. minnkota has a $80 rebate going on right now for the terrova with ipilot... its around 1500 at Sail and Basspro etc. i just picked one up for my new boat.
  15. i am on my 4th year with Red Pine and i have to say i absolutely love the place. James does a great job at keeping the camp on the right track and Ryan (the guide) really knows the lake very well and will do his best to put you on fish. The rest of the staff at redpine are always helpful and very friendly. Food is amazing as well. The cabins are awesome with seperate docks for each cottage so its very easy to come and go as you please. the fishing is amazing! and depending on the time of year its normally pretty close to the lodge. i have also heard good things about garden island. i had some friends stay there last year and they really enjoyed there trip. they also have a guide there. i believe his name is brian.. and he was also quite helpful with helping guests find the fish. one thing i would highly recommend too if the lodge you stay at offers it is to fish one of the backlakes up there for bass or pike. the fishing was insane on the 2 lakes i fished. hope that helps
  16. thanks for the info everyone! i really appreciate the input. been doing some more research and it is all starting to make a bit more sense now. Fang and Capt Bruce.. you both mentioned the Fenwick Twist rods... are these discontinued? i dont see them on the fenwick website. i will do some more digging online but thought i would ask. i picked up an HDS 8 for my console and an HDS 7 for my bow.... so im set for the fish finders. one question i have in regards to the Fish Hawk X4 is are they difficult to install? can i do it myself? thanks again boys. cheers
  17. I recently have purchased a new princecraft xpedition and have rigged it up with a pair of walker tournament series downriggers. My experience with downriggers is pretty much none. lol i have been out with a few charters on lake o for salmon/steelhead and checked out how they run there setups but im pretty clueless to the whole thing. in regards to the rods/reels do any of you have any advice on which kind of downrigging rods i should be purchasing. i will be mainly using the downriggers out on lake o for salmon/steelhead and possibly the odd time up in the muskoka/haliburton area for lakers. any brands that seem to be better than others when it comes to downrigging rods? any i should stay away from etc? what about line for the reels, what pound test is best and is it necessary to get the flea flicker line or whatever? i remember one of the charters i was out with was using that. when it comes to downrigging weights i have read that you normally want 1 lb for every 10 feet of water you are dropping the ball down to. is that correct? is there a certain lb weight that people generally use as a standard? or do i need to but 6, 8 and 10 lb weights? do people find the fish shaped ones are any better? what about color? i have also been checking out the temperature sensors or whatever that you can purchase to go with the downriggers.. should i stick with the walker temp sensors or should i go with the fish-hawk or something similar? i have a bunch more questions but i figure i will start with those ones. really appreciate the input from you guys and i cant wait to get the new boat out on the water.
  18. wow those are some awesome photo's of some of the fish you have caught this season. i have to get my ass up there sometime in my life. thanks for sharing
  19. did you check out the princecraft boats? they had some great deals going on with lots of freebies. make sure to check them out as well.
  20. i also went on friday to the special preview night. alot of great boats to look at including some new models etc. i found it very helpful being able to check out all the outboard companies and speak with the reps to find out some answers to the questions i had. they were very helpful. i ended up purchasing the new princecraft xpedition 170 SC. paired it up with a 115 merc 4 stroke and 9.9 pro kicker. cant wait for the spring now! hahah the guys at princecraft had some great deals and were very helpful. i would say it is def worth the day/afternoon to look around.
  21. danbob what makes you wish you got an 8?
