  2. hey wayne if your spools are not full the line counters will be off. you need to have a full spool for them to read properly
  3. wow those underwater shots are by far the nicest i have seen. was that as a result of your lighting thing you mentioned? or just the camera and clear water?
  4. just saw this on the lowrance website.... hds gen 2 touch screen units.... prices just went up again. haha http://www.lowrance.com/Products/HDS-Gen2-Touch/ anybody seen these yet?
  5. awesome year for me. awesome start to the softwater season an excellent month or so on simcoe for jumbos. landed two 15 inchers that were fat as hell. next up was an amazing month out on the kawarthas for walleye with a few days with close to 100 walleye landed in the days outing. then went to lady evelyn and had a terrific week up there smashing the walleye and pike. muskie has been pretty hot for me this year with a 55 incher and a 49.5 incher. countless 30-40 inch fish and many over 40 inches. salmon was incredible. first year with downriggers on my new boat and managed some awesome days out on the big lake. a few close ones for the derby as well. next up is quinte walleye, some more simcoe jumbos and some awesome muskie fishing! cant wait.
  6. my hat goes off to him if he managed to type that while trippin. haha
  7. amazing report pete! it really brought back some amazing memories and i cant wait to go on the next musky hunt with you man. we made a good team out there thats for sure. the big girl definetely had a funny looking melon but thats what makes her unique besides from her size. we couldnt believe how big her head was though, extremely wide! i was happy to get that hook outta me so i could take my time releasing her and watched her swim away with power. Mike P. that is hilarious. after casting big baits from sun up to pretty much sun down there were a few evenings where we decided to give the wrists a break and do some jigging. was also a fun time to fish with the group and lots of laughs shared during that time. i never thought i would want to do another 24 hour drive up north again so quickly but you know what i would do it again next weekend. haha
  8. off to pick up my revo toro winch to pair it up with my st croix legend sling blade! yeaaah buddy

  9. mike is right, october will prob be too early for quinte. last week of october was good for me on LSC last year. and simcoe is hot around then as well.. i would say end of october for sure
  10. thanks everyone for the feedback! and as per Ben's recommendations i have contacted Dave Bennett and am waiting to hear back from him. Ben thanks for getting back to Pete yesterday as i know he msg'd you directly. if dave falls through i will call Ryan at Figure 8 baits and/or Jerry Schultz as per Grt1. again everyone thank you for your input. 1 more question.....traditionally what kind of conditions should i expect end of august/early september up there. i have never been that far north. obviously i will pack gear and clothes for all conditions as i like to be prepared but i imagine it begins to cool down quite a bit by that time when you get that far north. cant wait to bag a few beasts!! cheers guys
  11. lebarons in markham carries those swivels.... so does tightline in pickering.
  12. hey everyone, i was hoping to get some suggestions for muskie guides on sioux narrows on Lake of the Woods. i am heading up there at the end of august and want to book a guide for a day. also any other tips or advise is always appreciated. Thanks in advance
  13. my cottage is also just down the road! pretty crazy. i also have a german shepherd... lol the whole declawed thing definetely prooves it wasnt wild
  14. you may want to rethink the 15 year loan for a 18000 boat. 9k in interest is a bit ridiculous. i would wait until you had some money for a down payment, it will bring your monthly payments down considerably and you wont have to take 15 years to pay the boat off. in 5 , 10 or even 15 years are your needs the same? do you think you will still be happy with that boat in that time? in 10 years you will probably still owe more than what the boat will be worth. making it difficult to sell and get a new one as you will probably have to pay to get out of the boat. also if your maxing out funds on the payments what will you do when you have repairs etc to do because you know eventually you will be forking out some cash for something. have you seen this ad? looks decent and you could probably get him down even more than the 15k he is asking for. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-boats-watercraft-powerboats-motorboats-2012-16-5-FT-SMOKERCRAFT-PRO-ANGLER-161-50HP-4S-MERCURY-TRAILER-W0QQAdIdZ395551080 also on the 4 stroke / 2 stroke debate.... i went 4 stroke with my new motor and i absolutely love it. very quite, no mixing oil, trolls at very low speeds for a big motor, no smell, resale value is much better.
  15. yeahh buddy! make sure you post up a report. and pete... end of august will be here soon my friend. i cant wait either, we have to start finalizing everything soon. i got the maps on my ipad now so we should try and get together and scope out some good looking water.

  19. my buddy ryan with a nice lady evelyn walleye... he is also a guide at redpine a cool shot of the long winding narrows that led to another lake that runs off of lady evelyn. pretty cool experience
  20. for some reason i could only post 3 pics at a time. sorta sucks but here are some more pics
  21. For the 4th year i have been lucky enough to stay a week up at Red Pine Wilderness Lodge on Lady Evelyn Lake. Each year i have gone with my wife and it really is a lodge where you can expect full service across the board with some amazing fishing. When i say full service, im talking regular dock service (cleaning and wiping down boats, filling up with gas, new minnows, new worms/leeches etc without having to ask)they fillet and package all your fish you bring back, amazing meals and pretty much anything else you need is taken care of immediately by the staff. The fishing each year seems to get better and better, this year i brought up my own boat so it was nice to have my own boat on a lake with no road access. Red pine organized very well everything for me to get the boat across the dam and into the lady evelyn river. We fished mainly for walleye and hit a bunch of pike throughout the trip. My wife got the biggest pike of course at 38 inches. jigging with a worm one evening. Because i had a boat that went much faster than the rental boats it allowed me to explore some areas i hadnt fished before and even cruise around to just check some new areas out. the biggest walleye of the week was a 27 incher, the walleye seemed to be nice and fat this year. we probably averaged about 40-50 walleye a day with the best day being a high 70's fish day.
  22. i purchased a princecraft xpedition at the boat show in January... delivery date was set for first week of may. first week of may came around nothing had been delivered to the marina i purchased it from. apparently there was a delay in production. i am promised it should be in next week. next week comes around and boat has been delivered. only one problem. my main motor didnt arrive with it. delay from mercury on the 115 4 stroke. promised it the next week.... next week comes and motor has arrived. one problem once again.... none of my extras were installed (HDS 7, HDS 8, Terrova, VHF Radio, Downriggers, pro kicker) promised the following week..... last weekend i picked up the boat... everything was installed perfectly and the boat looked amazing. i did get some freebies thrown in for the delay and did have to stay on top of the dealer in regards to schedule etc.... in the end i got what i wanted and it was all done very well. Im sure if i rushed him some things wouldnt have been installed as well as they were. yes i had to wait but in the end the dealer who i thought was dicking me around in fact got me everything i needed for an awesome price. and now i am on the water with my new boat and heading on a fishing trip tomorrow for a week with my new toy. it sounds like everyone i talk to has had to wait for there boat to arrive. for one reason or another it seems everyone has to wait a bit for there new boat. hopefully everything works out for you
  23. i have been hammering the walleye on scugog this year. keep searching. they are there
  24. island marina on scugog is great. i stored my boat there for 3 years. Frank is very nice and helpful and they have been updating alot around the place. for a 14 footer it shouldnt be too expensive. give him a call if your thinking about scugog
