  1. Thanks Lew, I knew someone knew it here, what a great place this is.
  2. Or it was for another brand, cannot remember now. If there is one, please let me know.
  3. These might work for you Steve. As others have said, Baffin is a decent brand, and Rocky brand is its own brand sold through multiple outlets, but I do not know much about them. I am sure you can find an outlet for these somewhere down there, but if not, you can order them from up here. http://www.gear-up.com/cart_showproduct.php?pid=6086
  4. That sounds very "RARE" Glen, and juicy.
  5. Oh I know very well how dry it is, actually prefer it that way, but may not get the chance to try this as I have not gotten out yet this year. The marinade recipe is saved though.
  6. |nteresting recipe, but after all that prep, just how do you cook it????? or is this deer sushi????
  7. Dorion is 45 min. NE of Thunder Bay, closer to Nipigon than TBay. The fish culture station is about 15 min. up a road just west of the Wolf River on a small spring fed creek called Spring Creek, which flows into the Coldwater River, also a kilometer west of the Wolf River. There is another station operated by the MNR on the Wolf River itself, but I do not know what they do there. The Dorion Fish Culture Station has been in operation since the 1930's. It has brood stock from the Nipigon Strain of brook trout, which is used to supply Thunder Bay and Nipigon districts with a "put and take" fishery for them in summer and winter in local lakes, along with trying to re-establish existing populations of native fisheries. They have also reared lake trout for re-introduction for some lakes. http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/About/2ColumnSubPage/257251.html for more info on Dorion, just Google Dorion Fish Culture Station.
  8. Sent you the two jpeg's by e-mail Mareen. Save them somewhere for the future.
  9. Stuff happens, welcome back...................WHERE'S A FISHING REPORT, AND PICTURES????????????????? OK, a readers digest report of things in your life will suffice.
  10. Is that one of your recruits doing some kind of "punishment" drill?????
  11. Hope it works out for you, and yes, a well test is required, regardless of what the neighbors say about no issues with water. It will be an issue with the well on the property being able to provide you with appropriate water flow per given hour, and other things such as contamination/bacteria. My bud went through this 3 yrs. ago, and that was one of the major factors in the purchase of the property, along with the existing septic field.
  12. That's why I figger I would need the bail money,

    OUCH

That's too bad Brian, seems like you are one of the guys that likes to keep impeccable care of your vehicles and equipment. I am the reverse, I beat the living crap out of it, fix it, and don't look back. What actually did happen though?? I caved in the drivers side of my pickup box right behind the gas fill-up tube one time. One foot further to the right and all would have been good. My bud mentioned it to one of the CO's where it happened, and he said "he drove in............................there??????????" Hee, hee, hee, I am hard on equipment.
  14. I do know you can purchase Kevlar "nose" ???? protector kits for canoes. Our Outdoor Recreation dept. at my local university put them on ALL of their plastic/kevlar/fibreglass/etc. canoes. But they do cost money. The technician told me(at the time, which was 15 yrs. ago) they were paying $60.00 each for them. What they cost now I do not know.
  15. Are you talking about "red wigglers" or nightcrawlers/dew worms. Most places can sell you a "flat" of 500 dew worms. I used to buy them that way when I fished every weekend from May opener for walleye until opening of hunting(gun) season. Rarely ran out, even fishing both days on a weekend, and back then cost about $70.00.
  16. Hey Maureen, do you still have the jpeg maps of the directions I sent you last year? I may not have sent them to you, may have just replied in the post for people asking directions. If not, I can e-mail them to you. This event will eventually get "pinned" again, for all to check out. Are you still asking for assistance for prize donations? If so, start it now, and I might just remember to actually send you something for the table. I think I still have your PO box address around here somewhere. I will not be there of course, unless you want to pay my airfare(return included), food, accommodations, bail,
  17. Sent this to my 3 older sisters,.............they are still waiting for me to get over the "50" mark to join their club,
  18. Ohhh...................................Burrrnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.....................
  19. Hey Mo, if you do decide to get a tree, just do what Monique did last year, she raided TJQ's tackle box,
  20. You shouldn't as far as I am concerned. Lots of the trails we are using, crossing are on traditional access roads/trails that we used to use to get to lakes to fish well before the trail system came into place, regardless of how the trail conditions were. The fact that sections of them may be groomed because of great snow conditions, well, excellent. Just don't try to fool them by having a couple spools of ice fishing line in your backpack without any lures, augers, jigging rods, tip-ups, etc. And, do the proper speed limit also. The trails do have speed limits. Honor them. It's never been an issue up here in Northwestern Ontario anyway that I know of.
  21. One of my favorites.......................................no,I did not do this, p.s. I don't carve them any more.
  22. Alkaline's are not re-chargeable as far as I know, Ni-Cad's and Lithium Ion's are. What size are you talking about, AAA, AA, C cell, D cell???? To get to six volts on your trail cam, are we talking 4 batteries???............not just one??????????
  23. Well now, for once in recent memory, down south has had a snowfall before us You can keep it for now Brian, at least another 2 weeks please!!!!!! We do have the temps, -5C this morning, but scraping the windows of the truck beats removing the snow from it, shoveling the driveway, and the steps of the house, any day,
  24. I may be way off base here, but with the spring steel rod you mentioned, it may be a wire line setup for trolling for lakers(or maybe Musky). The reel seems too small though. Maybe your grandfather trolled for lakers in shallower water in the spring after ice out with it?? Usually the reels were 9-12" diameter, filled with copper line(yes, I said copper line, still have one around here somewheres spooled with it). Never saw a rod like that with a wood handle though. Its a keepsake for sure, find a nice place for it somewhere in your house and do not try to find value in it, it already has it.
  25. Yeah, I know I am still covered. Fortunately they are not my pension provider.
