I catch browns in my backyard on up to 5" jerkbaits normally used for bass and pike. So you weren't fishing too big. But i still think they were spooked already. They love mini king spinnerbaits, so do steelhead!

I wouldn't go selling your things to buy musky gear until you have experienced musky and know you're into that type of fishing.

Browns dont die after spawning, so i think your browns were half dead salmon that were too far gone to eat. Or, they saw you standing there . Trout are spooky. Just cuz they dont swim away doesnt mean they're not spooked.

Buddy and I were deadbaiting pike the other day, and his first fish was the biggest, 31" with some distinctive marks. 5 hours later, my last fish, also my biggest of the day - was the exact same fish. The fish took the same bait, 10 yards away from where it was caught 5 hours earlier. Fun stuff. Glad to know the circle hooks are leading to healthy and quick releases.

It is a nuisance when people start drinking, littering and vandalyzing while they're bored the fish aren't biting. Unfortunately i see it way too much. After these idiots show up, its wrecked for everybody.

I have a huge ugly stik musky rod with a BPS musky angler reel, spooled with 80lb braid. The whole thing was under $200 and ive never felt the need to upgrade, as i rarely fish musky.

After a certain point, every season seems to get better & better. This one was no exception!

I dont recommend the otter huts. My buddy has one. Need an atv to move it or its a workout from hell. Setup of the stupid sliding bars takes longer than my popup tent hut. And it doesn't seal as well as my popup so it stays cold. You need an atv to move it, though i think its durability being towed would crumble quickly. Really. Spend the extra cash.
