It seems with the exception of one day bottom bouncing bags, the hardware is scoring regularly for us! Rob says thanks everyone for the congrats.

Ive never ice fished rice, but finding green weeds 3-6 ft below the surface should be the type of structure you want to fish. Long point bay is weedy and shallow, similar to rice, and we do well in those types of spots.

Lol, no kidding! Probably wore the damn thing out!

You got to the bay on a freak fall feedup day. Its rare to get those days in november, but when you do it really puts a new perspective on how many pike are really out there. Good work Scott, hope next time you land a big girl!

No surprise on the single egg, excellent replacement for a corky. Great report! Thanks for sharing!

Stoners will move on to the next edible snack item, cookies, cake, candy, milk bones.. And of course there's Twinkies in Canada. I stare at the hostess display all day, everyday at work.

I was under the impression catching bait in one waterbody and bringing to another was illegal?
-
I bought an umbrella net from ctc for 20 bucks. Worth every penny. If i need bait i usually catch small minnows from the creek behind my house, usually salt/freeze them as i know its illegal to transport them live. Works just fine for me, the fish and my paycheck.

My fishfinder lcd doesnt freeze up...?
-
I have a windlass tip-up by these guys and it cant be beat, even by a digital counterpart. Pretty cool though.

Emerald shiners and other minnow species are on their fall run right now. Might have just been spawning minnows. More likely whatever was chasing around schools of pinheads this time of year would be bluegills or perch. Pike wouldnt waste their energy on 1" minnows unless the pike were 10" long.

Sorry dude... My bad. I need to NOT browse ofc while im on the can in the morn. Lmao

Hey, this has been done! Albeit, i had no pics to prove

This crushes the whole plot of Zombieland!

The only time uncured eggs are necessary is bottom bouncing for long periods of time, for inactive fish. Otherwise, anything works. Theres a reason they still sell those borax cured jars of salmon eggs at CTC.

VERY specific, actually. 2 cups boiled (then cooled to lukewarm) water, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup table salt. Mix well, add eggs. Leave in refrigerator no longer than 6 hours. I have SEVERELY messed up this brine by changing the ingredient amounts before. This way works perfect everytime. Personally i dont like brining more than 3 hours. This cure just keeps the eggs from turning white in cold water, without compromising their natural scent and consistency.

I give it 3 hrs in a brown sugar/salt brine then tie it all at once if time allows. It milks more the more you refreeze it.

My friend Rob is a member here (Bottombouncer I believe is his name), but does not currently have access to a computer. I'm sure he'd appreciate me putting this fish pic up for him. Two days ago he landed his PB steelhead while fishing a local trib with me. The only credit I can take here is that I took the picture. Rob traversed a straight mud cliff, hanging from tree limbs and beat himself up pretty bad just to get into the whirlpool where he knew this fish was holding. I wasn't so adventurous, I stayed where it was moderate hiking conditions. lol Well anywho, when he monkey flipped himself into knee-deep mud, it wasn't long before a giant smashed his spoon. What a fish for Rob! I was just as excited as he was I think, just to be there and experience that. I see the addiction to steelheading.. lol :clapping: Nice work Rob! Can't wait to get into the double digits myself!

Been catching the bluegills and perch around here in 15 - 25 fow .. And the pike are right there with them. If that helps. Lol

Thanks for reaffirming my statement. Yes, giving away your hotspots is stupid. Posting community hole reports is useful.
-
I'd be on one of the other boats too. Lol those big sunfish are nice but chrome is where the heart is! Nice fish though!
-
Really? Why are people so cocky here? Do you fish for a living? The dude had a bad few days. No need to rub it in there mr izumi. Maybe he doesnt fish pigeon's ridiculously tiny walleyes religiously, so had trouble finding them. Good job though, it takes a certain quality and skill set to twitch a jig covered in live bait. Wow, that set me off. Time for coffee.

We have a local "fisherman" who frequents localities that we refer to as "Six Lines" .. you can imagine why. Every year, same spot. 3 lines tied to pop bottles, one on a MH baitcaster and 2 normal ice rods. He's had his fishing license revoked and been fined a large number of times. He takes off if you mention MNR... But always comes back.

There's a million and one places to catch musky besides lake st clair. People aren't stupid enough to report southern ontario musky spots on internet forums except LSC cuz it's the country's community musky hole now. They exist in all the great lakes.... Bigger and deeper the lake the bigger the fish.... Think about it. Maybe you're closer than you think!

Port dover no perch unless you got a boat. Port maitland should be better if you get a calm day.
