  1. Ps: you also need the truck to haul the sled and hut to the lake... If ya got a clam.
  2. 25lbs of deadbait in the freezer Williams wobblers 5" 2 heavy ice rods (homemade) Just replaced my windlass The popup is always ready New auger blades Bring me the ice pike
  3. And those people could just as easily walk up to the bank and catch fish..
  4. A $15000 sled or quad for 1 month a year is a little pricey.
  5. Clam flipover style are said to be better, but their disadvantages outweigh their advantages to me. #1 issue, if you walk out, they're ridiculously heavy. Call me a pansy, or lazy, but i dont physically drag my boat to the lake on a trailer to go real fishing, why would i drag a 400lb cube out for perch and crappies? The popup tents are 20lbs, and set up just as fast or even faster than some flipovers. Ive been using the ctc stuff for years . Ice fishing is very cheap to be successful at.
  6. Making your own floats is bad ass! I wanna try it!
  7. I dunno if its within 2 hrs but look up Jack Lake Lodge. Great crappie fishing and excellent hut services. Not to mention , very good prices. I think it was $25/ person when we went a few years ago.
  8. What kind do you use, when floating? Up til this year i used blackbird phantom floats exclusively, until i picked up some larger sheffield slip floats this year. It took some adjusting, but i now love the flow-thru line style floats! So much more convenient. What do you use?
  9. Use a noodle for floating, use a long spinning rod for chucking lures. 8' MH action rods will chuck a spoon a mile and wont break the bank.
  10. Woulda made a big pond though.. lol
  11. Theres a whole lotta myths to steelheading.. i went 3/7 on a trib on thursday, by #7 i realized i forgot to put a flouro lead on at all!
  12. Long point bay has some good hut services, but often some boring fishing. Id say its worth the drive to lake simcoe.
  13. Great perchin... Great eyelashes.
  14. I use 8lb berkley big game on my aventa.. works much better than the 10lb raven hi-vis that was on there previously. With a 6lb berkley professional grade flouro lead.
  15. Thats not really their wives, they arent really rednecks, or family. Its a funny show, but poorly acted/scripted and anyone who believes there is the slightest speck of reality in the show needs to give their head a huge shake. Cant watch that garbage personally. Though ive never been fond of a lot of the mind melting crap on the idiot box.
  16. Why did they make him drive himself to the hospital?!?!
  17. We dont catch much but who caaaaaaares maaaann?
  18. Just use an onion ring
  19. For sure man. Chartreuse w/sparkles seems to get their attention around here. Every river is different and they all have their days. No prob on the tip. I've hooked fish with a single egg threaded like in aaron's report and a gulp pink worm sticking straight out from it. Some days it's killer.

  21. The way I view it on the underwater camera, classic by the way - the pike comes in for the perch school sloppy, gets confused they aren't there, but what's that taunting him in front of his face? I tiny little spoon. Foolish minnow. Tick, he eats it. But he wasn't there for the minnow.
  22. The pike are voracious. My largest dead bait offerings are getting decimated by hammer handles like there's no tomorrow. Lures, same thing. The bigger - the more little pike it catches. What a weird fall. It's been going on two weeks. We've had ridiculous numbers but aside from a warm front 33" ... barely any even close to 30. It's been fun though. I know those big girls are primed and close by, come ice season.. We don't just deadbait by the way. One day I was slamming them on my ultra light throwing a 4" black/orange Storm Thunderstick. We've caught a few on spinnerbaits, one on a buzzbait, many on Rattle Traps, one on dropshot, a few on chatterbaits. My musky spinnerbaits and topwaters have interested only pike that are barely larger than them! Anyway, here's some pics.. and open to any tips you may have to singling out the larger fish are appreciated. .. Ever since the Grand shut down that last one was the biggest. We are fishing waters where through the ice we catch about three in the high 40's between us every winter. Many in the low 30's usually. Never actually seen so many hammer handles.. but it's been happening at every little pike pit I know!
  23. My dad used to say "yeah, you can eat that bass. Then when we get home you might as well eat your brother too."
  24. Gulp! Single eggs also work if you cant find the trigger x ones around..
  25. Now that's an erie smallie!
