Good to see some half decent cats are still around in there. I'm just wondering where the big girls were this year. Nice report.

Ohhh I'm back, the fog has lifted, the earth has shifted, and raised the gifted! You knew I'd be back so pack your bone and hit the road Jack, cuz Daddy's home.... I got tons of pics to share.. lots of fishin been going on for me. Enjoy!

Wow, beauty Cliff! Congrats!

Ahh no fish fights better than the other, they're all just different. You can say carp are comparable to salmon, but they really aren't. Salmon give it lots of runs but none of the erratic movement that a carp can give. I find channel cats similar to musky when they get above 10lbs but a musky is a heck of a lot more exciting with it's near surface action. Channel cats like to bulldog. It's all great.. just grab a pole and go fishin', there's excitement in anything if you do it right.

What are you doing looking for pike behind baitfish island? Sorry about your day, but good on you for helping somebody in need. PS, next time try the flats off St Williams. Those pike want nothing to do with the sandy northern half of the bay.

Lemme guess... you complete puzzles in your spare time and listen to Bob Denver? Sheesh! Keep away from those icky carp!

Well today was quite the day. Action for the channel cats started off quick and we managed to get 3 on shore and on video. Nothing huge but better than we've been doing lately. Eric posed for a still picture with one of the biggest of the day. Like I said, not huge, but not small either. PS thanks Fishmaster for the cut bait! Later on in the day I decided to try my luck for carp. I was able to get one on shore (also on video) using the ultra light and 6lb test. Great fight even though its just a little guy. That was it for the day. Wow did it ever get cold out there once that sun dropped and the wind picked up. I thought it was January for a minute. haha Thanks Eric and Jenna for the good times! We may have enough footage now to piece together an episode.

And as promised here is the stock footage of Sleded's 32 inch carp fight! http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=-68...84&hl=en-CA

Today, Greensot, Sleded and I hit a local spot hoping for carp and cats. We got into a few bullheads and Sleded got into a beauty 32 inch carp. It was all caught on video too. But for now we'll have to settle for pics. I think Sleded's secret was his new bait bucket. Great idea Sleded.. no more worries of bringing extra gear! Thanks for the great day guys I had a blast. See ya tomorrow Jed!

No, they dont bite in the rain. They hate it when their food gets wet. JK of course.. crappie fishing is great in the rain. The low light conditions allow you to use larger baits and call for a more agressive bite. Get R Done!

I like yellow or white grubs during the day and black at night. Tipped with a minnow, night crawler or leech all works ... leeches are my fav in the summer but minnows seem to do better in the spring.

i still have nightmares about the 50+ musky i raised last september... i'll be back to get 'er soon enough!

Bullheads are awesome filleted and fried just like perch. Give it a try. It could be one of the tastiest fish I've ever eaten. Silver bass are comparable to crappie or other bass as well. Best eaten fresh though.

The suckers were out in a local creek today. Not too many here yet but I managed about a half dozen to be used later as cut bait (for the big kitties). They sure are scrappy buggers on 4lb test.

Well Sleded and I decided we'd get in doo doo with the wives and went fishing all day. Now that was a good choice! First we went down to check out Amo's tournament.. money in our pockets and all but to our surprise nobody was down there. Hmmm.. well I guess that meant we were heading out to some local cat haunts in search of big channel cats. The first spot we tried was last year's "Area 57".. right off the bat I missed one on a chunk of shad meat. I thought things would be good from the almost instant action.. but 'twas not so. This spot blew. Sleded did manage one little channel cat which gave us some hope for the day. Sleded also had trouble getting the net around this one for me. Man did I ever want it! Whew, thanks Eric! I dont know what I would have done if you couldnt have got the net around her. As it got later, we moved to the mouth of this creek in hopes that the bigger ones would be cruising. Bites were constant, but they weren't our target species. Bullheads were littering this spot and apparently had the munchies. They wouldn't leave the cut bait alone. Well.. after that, no channel cats. Then the rain/snow started and we decided 12 hours was enough fishing for us. I came back to the doghouse at about 12:30 am  Oh well it was a great day out. Just another scouting mission. Any day now those big kitties will move in.

Look forward to a BBR report this weekend -
Bullheads are similar in flavour to brook trout. Cant wait to fry a few up myself in just a few weeks.

There are big fish, but they will take some legwork.. or some luck. My best advice is to bring a little boat, and stay off the banks. Once summer hits those fish move to the greener weeds in the main channels. Those ponds have a surprising amount of current running through them. As for species you've got perch, sunfish, crappie, bass, pike and carp for the most part. Thanks for the link Kennyman!

Thanks, jackass! Anyways Yeah I havent been fishing lately... working tons and other personal stuff has come up. For instance Sleded broke up with me and started chasing those icky girls. We'll be out more once the ice melts.

Well said Cliff.

I never realized how much I used my digital camera until it was stolen last week. Brutal! And I havent even been fishing. Thank god I bought a camcorder or I'd have my cell phone cam out all day with me, haha. It's a pretty sad world when you have your camera zipped into the breast pocket of your coat, leave it on your chair, go into the bathroom for 2 min at Tim Hortons and come out and your $400 investment is gone Sorry, a little rant.. havent been fishing so I had to do something.
