  1. I've had a certain local tackle shop on highway 6 count out 12 minnows before. I laughed at his cheapness. And never came back.
  2. 6lb Trilene XT Clamp-it
  3. Kawartha walleye and musky fishing is at the best I've seen it since I was a young kid. I think more people in that area are practicing proper catch and release, which is a great thing. I wish the old men down south would follow suit a bit.
  4. Thanks guys. Guess I should mention that the carp hit on the old faithful breadball/hair rig combo. Cant wait to get out for carp again.. what a fight.
  5. Fishing pressure ruined the Long Point Bay bass fishery. There's still lots, they're just stunted. Not so much the fishing pressure that mattered.. just the bucket brigade filling their buckets with nothing but big breeding fish.
  6. Well GB and I decided to hit up the mighty Area 51 to start our night last night. As the sun was setting, the bass were out in full force blasting baby bluegill like there was no tomorrow. Unfortunately they weren't biting our baits quite so frequently. I did manage to score a couple of dinks on a rig that Newbie showed me a year or two ago. His "bread and butter" I believe he called it. Thanks for the tip Newbie! After that we headed to GB's stomping grounds for some twilight thunderstorm carp action. As the heat lightning struck ominously in the sky in front of us, we enjoyed some great conversation while waiting for the bugle mouth salmon to show up. We missed a few fish, but things were pretty slow. I was beginning to lose hope when my rod fired, fish on! She wasn't a giant, but "she'll do". Awesome fight on 6lb test ultra light gear! After that it was a quick trip to Burger King then home to bed. Thanks for the great night GB!
  7. He is doing well, he's healthy.. as for sleeping through the night. Ha. Depends on the night I guess! He usually sleeps about 3-4 hours on a good night at a time, wakes up for a feeding/changing and goes back to sleep.
  8. The artificial baits will not work on the Port Dover pier. Trust me.
  9. I have yet to catch anything there but gobies and bullheads. Though I did hook a nice carp last time. As for bass.. I've pounded that area from shore and from a boat and have yet to get any. I'm sure they are there though, it looks good enough.
  10. I just dont see many situations where I NEED soft plastic baits. In the shallow slop I'll toss a jig & pig or scum frog before anything else. Open water, well thats crankbait and spinnerbait time. Submerged weeds - gimme my spinnerbaits & topwaters. Don't get me wrong, I have tons of soft plastics and they do get used.. but I don't rely on them.
  11. Minnows and pickerel rigs is all you need! Worms will catch you a zillion gobies.
  12. The Sony Cybershot 7.2 MP are sitting at about $249 right now. Actually at the source they have a bundle for 249 and it comes with a memory stick and camera case. People like to diss the Sony's but I've had one all this year and I love it. I would definitely buy another one. Hard to beat the price too.
  13. I try to keep the soft plastics off my line as much as possible. Sort of a "last resort". I just have the (probably false) belief stuck in my head that hardbaits catch bigger fish.
  14. Those bass are starving to death! No wonder you had such a good morning! Nice work. I wouldn't count on that pond producing quality bass for too much longer though with bass in that sick of shape.
  15. Wow those are some huge 'eyes. Nice kings too!
  16. Justin, yet again, awesome report. You have some of the best reports on the 'net! And some beauties caught too. Nice!
  17. Some really decent bass there. Nice work!
  18. It makes them look bigger. No really for me it was because I had usually just pulled it out of the net on the ground and was already crouching anyway.
  19. Nice ski. Funny when I lived up there I rarely fished that shoreline. Guess I should have!
  20. What a beast CH! Have you even touched your musky rods this year?
  21. What a beautiful day on the lake that's all I can say. The lake was as flat as glass, running from Dover to Nanticoke was no trouble for us at all. My dad and my nephew Isaiah had a great day out there. Silver bass were unlimited, we kept about 40 and started releasing the rest. Smallies were biting too. It was Isaiah's greatest day of fishing yet, he had a blast and so did I. Jigging spoons, grubs and yes the old faithful worm for Isaiah were the hot baits. Don't get too many awesome days like that on the big lake!
  22. Anyone remember the snakehead scare?
  23. Read up on tube jigs bud! They are probably the best way to catch bass on the Grand that I have seen. Welcome to OFC!
  24. I'd just head to Rice. It's prime yacht season on that stretch.
