I had luck replacing trebles with these, but always used the traditional Siwash on trolling flutter spoons, these were used on smaller pier casting spoons and sometimes worm harnesses and tail hooks on body baits too . The eye is closed so you had to use a split ring, the Siwash we used was open and you closed it on a solid welded ring. http://mustad-fishing.com/eam/product/mustad-beak-hook-92553s-ss92553s/

Downrigging for salmonoides was always best when you had you speed set to the correct hum of the rigger cables.

This whole rebuild excuse seems pretty lame when you look at where Vegas placed in their division/conference and the success they have had so far in the playoffs. I really hope they go all the way and hoist the cup at the end.

Perch spinning rod and reel set up - Simcoe
dave524 replied to guastels's topic in General Discussion
My favourite deep water perching rod is an old Fenwick HMG 534 that I built years ago. The length is 5 foot 3 inch but the last number denotes the action , so a 4 action is really stiff for such a featherweight rod, it is rated for 1/8 to 5/8 oz lures. Teamed with a light spinning reel and a low stretch line it is an incredibly sensitive rod in the hand for any vertical fishing, The only time I watch the tip is when I am bank fishing with my rod propped against a fork stick, if the tip is moving you are losing feel to your hand , a shock absorber like effect. edit: it is a 1 piece blank too, very low blank weight -
Actually there are quite a few bass in sheltered locations in the west end of Lake Ontario, mostly largemouth.

Wow, I remember him from the late 50's as a kid, B&W TV of course and Wednesday's game you only caught the last half as they had regular programming on for the first period or so.

Wasn't any better on the south shore either, I'm close enough that I can heard it and saw it from the end of the driveway, but I didn't venture out in that weather to have a looksee close up, just heard it letting the dogs in and out. Nobody was fishing our pier this weekend I assume. Just saw on CHCH 11 News some homes just west of the entrance to 50 Point Harbour getting hammered pretty good.

I predate the popular " Duck "wines by a year or two, the favourite panty remover in my day was Mateus sparkling rosy , more class than a duck wine if you ask me.

1146-B was the cheap wine I drank at University, " Come alive for a dollar five " always packed a wineskin for a football or hockey game

Defense lacking ......yes , but i disagree on the goaltending being lacking, until last night Andersen has been a rock in goal. Without him in goal they wouldn't have had the season they had in the standings.

Nice, 9 wt Bass Bug Taper stuff or heavier if you got it -
Thought it a bit excessive, for a long time there was no limit on Crappie , they were considered an invasive species like Rock Bass in some lakes, a guy shoots a doe without an antlerless tag and gets $1250 on the same page , now that seems backwards to me.

Late spring means more steelies in the rivers come opener .

OI, it's really not Winona, it's on the QEW south service road where the old Stop 50 Truck Stop used to be at Fifty Road. Bunch of stuff in there LCBO, Royal Bank, Muskoka Joe's Bar and Grill, some chain hair cutting place and more to come. Saves me driving all the way to St. Kitt's when the monthly cheque comes in.

Judging from the variety of shingles I picked up in the yard, the roofers are going to have a few jobs in my neighbourhood. Went to the new Costco at Winona that day, parked and the guy collecting shopping carts said they were closing, power was out, then stopped at CTC on the way home as I was low gas, they had just had a power surge that took down the computer system and they couldn't get it back up At that I just went home.

Spring Walleyes....finally some open water fishing

Went only once, back maybe '75 , around Delaware or Komoka. It was zoo, comparable to a steelhead opener, most of the guys were serious ripping jigs and a lot of the fish I saw caught were foul hooked, not my cup of tea. Glad to see its changed for the better after 40 years. Nice fish, cool to have caught the same one again so quick. -
Been there , dad was top notch tournament fly accuracy caster, taught me. I often bought double tapers, usually one wt. heavier than what the rod called for. Then I would take them with the rod and false cast till I felt I had the optimum weight of line out, cut them at the rod tip and splice them to 50 or so feet of 20 lb. mono shooting line, Maxima back in those days. 2 lines for the price of one lol, and as I did a lot of lake fishing the added distance to casts was welcome. Yeah just take them out on the back lawn , cast them and match them to the rods, you might find better matches than playing the numbers game.
-
Might be able to mike it , when I first started we went by thickness and not the present numbering system based on weight of the first 30 feet.. The thickness was given a letter with H being thin and A being fat and heavier, so a light double taper was something like an HDH or slightly heavier like HCH and a weight forward or torpedo taper would be something like a GBF. Isn't fun anymore that you don't have to dress your floating lines with Mucilin to keep them buoyant. edit: this might help http://www.garyborger.com/2009/12/26/old-line-designations/

I've enjoyed this pair for a lot of years , Lindley is the master of any stringed instrument, Cooder is now slouch either. Lindley also played a lot with Jackson Browne, loved his falsetto on the song "Stay" and he had his own band for a while too. Good watch , you'll see some pretty unique instruments.

May 14th ,2013. I'd rather play Tampa .

Mostly a bluesrocker but I do also like bands like the Eagles and The Band, these young guys are awesome vocally with 3 guys trading the lead like Richard , Levon and Rick did , pretty decent players too. The guy with the Levon Helm Band T, omg he channels Levon with his vocal style.
