  1. Went to U of T 1969 -74, took Forestry, these photos are mostly from that time frame, lots of memories watching them, saw Murray once at the old Riverboat in Yorkville would have been 1970 when he was just starting out.
  2. As kids in the country , 50-60's, did a lot of wild berry picking , but don't recall those Brambleberries. We had wild black raspberries that were similar but smaller, mom made a great jam with them mixed with red ones as the blacks were pretty dry on their own. We did have a nearby Mulberry Tree that had a fruit similar to those and it made great pies but mom still cursed it when the berries were ripe and she had laundry on the line, birds liked them too and they would mess purple poop on the clothes ?. Lastly the swale behind the house had lots of elderberries, those you would strip with a coarse comb from the cluster , lot of work but the pies and jam was worth it. Then there was nuts too, my favourite was the Butternut, but those are all gone, some kind of canker or blight wiped them out, back then I even knew of a few American Chestnuts that had survived that blight , but I suspect they are now gone too.
  3. Played in St Kitt's along with the Golden Jet in the 50's, back then St.Catharines was Blackhawk Country and Hamilton was a Red Wing town.
  4. Looking good Bruce, a little surprised your Hungarian Hots pack more heat than the Jalapenos , I found my Jalapenos' were a notch higher on the scale. When we got the dogs I gave up on gardening , I just sponge off the neighbour now ?
  5. Ask ant of the old time guides if they have ever heard of Craig Dawson ? probably the best Muskie fisherman ever on the Goon around early 1980's
  6. Got this Aussy the Voice contestant in my playlist
  7. Brian Johnson was good but Bonn Scott was killer
  8. This is so cool it gives me chills
  9. I fished that late fall smallie fishery Port Colborne/ Crystal Beach, fish were deep, 40 foot or so, never did it again , inflated swim bladders when releasing, I understand some guys use a hypodermic needle to deflate the bladders when releasing , I'll pass on that sort of thing and wait till next summer, unless you like eating bass.
  10. Don't Atlantics spawn late summer ????
  11. Congratulations, time will fly by, be warned, I can't believe its been ten years last month since I punched my last card.
  12. Thanks for the report, glad the nymph and indicator worked for you. I always found it my go to setup there. I actually ran nymphs there below a small float on my centrepin and 13 foot float rod on occasion , worked well even if you had to endure the disapproving stares of the fly fishing purists ?
  13. I used to fish there with a 8 1/2 foot 5 weight, found it just about ideal. Really , the whole match the hatch / mayfly thing was over rated there in my experience, always did better with something like a weighted Wooly Bugger nymph and a strike indicator.
  14. Even with heel strap in place don't like them driving, but a pair live at the back door though they never leave the property.
  15. I wear them with socks, drives the old lady crazy ?
  16. we had roundabouts over 50 years ago, OI will remember the one at the QEW and 20 HWY. Navigated it a many times early in my driving career.
  17. IMHO there is nothing wrong with this intersection, it is the same as thousands of other intersections where a side road crosses a main thoroughfare in rural Canada. Bottom line is some one screwed up and a bunch of kids paid the price. Let's install rumble strips at every stop sign in the country in that case, what do they say ?? " you can't fix stupid ". But they will throw some money and effort at fixing it for appearance sake.
  18. By far the majourity of people back their trailer too deep.
  19. What happened to the Muskies ? I remember " The Goon " being the premiere musky destination back around 1980 when Craig Dawson was the local musky guru and legend up there and totally dominating the Molson's Big Fish contest for few years .
  20. Probably a WGSF ?
  21. Looking good but I find a longer shank hook with the popper style so the hard body does not interfere with the hook gap increases the hookups. Wrapping the hook shank with thread before glueing the body on helps too with the body loosening and spinning on the shank.
  22. I thought you had to be retired for this honour or dead ? https://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey/opinion/2018/06/26/bizarre-timing-of-bettman-induction-begs-the-question-what-the-hall.html
  23. Henry got busted too about the same time https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/fishing-host-fined-for-illegal-angling-1.165298
  24. Too bad it wasn't an original VW Beetle, they would float for a while.
  25. Neighbour is Croatian, lots of cheering and partying going on there yesterday.
