So what have I learned in reading 4 pages ? If I extend the dock all the way out to the icefishing shack in winter I can drink legally in the shack -

That comment reminds me of this commercial <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QsxV49pmnL8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> -

Hmmm, there is a chemical that they treat ponds with that turns them dark green to kill weed growth, think it works on the lack of sunlight principal, do you think the pond has been treated and maybe this also harmed the fish -
My preference seems to follow 3 rules 1: all trolling done with baitcasters/levelwinds 2: lines under 12 lb finds me using spinning gear, don't have a baitcaster spooled with less than 12 3: if I am fishing lures under 1/2oz most likely will see me using spinning gear, 1/2oz and over baitcasting gear. works for me

I Never Put The Two Together....Until Recently
dave524 replied to SmokestackLightnin's topic in General Discussion
I've been a blues fan since 1966, first blues album, the John Mayall " Beano " album featuring Eric Clapton on guitar, second was a Butterfield Blues Band. Your name gave you away as an obvious Howlin Wolf fan. Friend of mine used to guide fly fishing on the Grand River in the 90's, clients would book through a shop and the shop would contact him. He also played guitar as a hobby and is my age. So the shop calls him asking him if he is available for a certain date, unfortunately he had to work and turned it down and one of the other guides took it. Wouldn't you know he just turned down the chance to guide Eric Clapton flyfishing on the Grand for browns he finds out later I got the autobiography that Eric wrote of few years ago for Christmas, told you I'm a blues fan at one time he was heavily into flyfishing and also had an estate in England and went bird shooting too with the upper class gentry over there. Guess there's a reason we like blues artists. -
Maybe it does? could some one have put single filament bulbs in by mistake? that could explain why turn signals work and the lights don't, only 1 of the 2 contacts being made. Craziest thing I ever saw was when a guy put a single filament in there and it bridged the 2 contacts in the receptacle, the running lights would be fine but when you put the turn signal on the whole trailer would flash

The 1 banger might have more vibration at idle but remember as a kicker you're going to be way up past idle on the throttle to get to 2-3 mph trolling speeds and by then should be a lot smoother. My 9.9 to troll for salmon on a 2000 lb rig was past the shift/speed interlock safety on the tiller and to kick it into neutral from trolling you needed to reduce the throttle first or else it was over revving.
-
Think you should get your 6-7, my 18 1/2 weighs 1100 bare aluminum hull and gets 8-10 with a 9.9 WOT.
-
If the boat weighs 1100 including the hull, main motor, gas, battery etc. you will be OK if that is the bare hull weight and you're adding all that stuff on top it would be close.

Serious towing with a Safari / Astro Van?
dave524 replied to Rattletrap2's topic in General Discussion
I've had a 4.3 vortec under my hood for 22 years, first a early throttle body injected in a 88 full size pickup and later a multiport in a 97 Safari. I found it to be equal to 302/305 2 bbl.carburated V8's I had previously. The Safari is not a poor tow vehicle, it is the best in it's class of something less than a full sized van and compared to the rest of that class it is a truck. I towed up to 3000 lbs fairly regularly and I would think with the precautions of coolers , brakes, equalizing hitch and maybe sway bars you will be fine. Just don't expect the gas mileage to be stellar -
Think the other side of the lake, 20 Mile is Jordan Harbour, 12 Mile is Port Dalhousie, 14 and 16 are in the vicinity of Charles Daly Park in between, near the exit for 7th Ave Louth on the QEW.
-
Saw on another board, 7 guys , 7 rods, 350 perch, 89 pounds of filets somewhere down in the central basin of Erie, yep that should cover the gas.

Same deal with my dad 50 years ago out of Port Colborne, only he had a fine mesh net with a triangular hoop, we go the night before to a few clay bottom farm ponds, locally, and get a mess of crayfish, he was very particular on size. They'd outfish minnows by a long shot, guess that is against the law now He had an old green Johnson 5 1/2 and he'd rent a 16 foot cedar strip for 50 cents a hour or $3 for the day

I'd be curious as to the serial numbers and date of manufacture by the sounds of how this is going, betting the problem cropped up and was modified on later units of affected models. Funny how in fishfarmer's case and the video I posted in the original thread there seemed to be no hesitation on Hummingbird's part, send it in and we'll fix it up , like they knew exactly what to do

Old farts again thanks for the Cream, 1/2 of Blind Faith here. Great version, incredible guitars don't even miss Steve not being on the Hammond. <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/VT-SFgkVlno" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> -
Billy Bob might remember the drinkin age being 21 in Ontario and being 18 in New York, on a Saturday night the bars close to the border in Niagara Falls NY. and Buffalo would have more young Canucks in them than Americans in the sixties.
-
When I turned 21 yes the drinking age at one time was 21 in Ontario, Labatt's 50 was a bigger seller than Labatt's Blue, except that Labatt's Blue wasn't called Blue at that time, everyone called it Labatt's Pilsner, if you asked for a "Blue" at a bar, you would get a Molson's Stock Ale. Fishfarmer , glad you got it fixed up,if Hummingbird wants to play in the blue water offshore market there going to have to their act together, may not be important in the bassboat market but that kind interfernce going to give them a bad rap in the bigger boat market

Bunch of shower curtain rings and #16 elastic bands, use 2 if necessary. I use homemade doubles, pretty sure these are the same plans. http://straitlineanglers.com/Articles/Make-Your-Own_Dual_Planer_Boards.htm

My mistake, found this to confirm your info "In 1977, Bill C-51 required firearms acquisition certificates (FACs) for the acquisition (but not possession) of all firearms and introduced controls on the selling of ammunition. FAC applicants were required to pass a basic criminal record check before being issued an FAC. In 1991, Bill C-17 tightened up restrictions and established controls on any firearms that had a military or paramilitary appearance. Legislation also made changes to the FAC system. FAC applicants were now required to pass a firearms safety course, pass a more thorough background check, and wait a minimum of 28 days after applying for an FAC before being issued one. " So yes from 91 to the inception of the POL/PAL in 95 there was testing required for a FAC. I had held a FAC from it's beginning in 77 and restricted weapons from that time too so I guess I was grandfathered from having to do it. Also had an Intructors Certificate from the MNR for the hunting license course in the mid seventies, so they must have figured I knew what I was doing Hadn't taught the course in close to 20 years and moved a few times too, imagine my surprise when the PALs came in and I get a letter from the Minister Of Justice asking me if I was interested in dual cerification, teach both the hunter safety for the Province and the Federal Pal course. Guess they tracked down all the hunter safety people in the province and sent them form letters looking for recruiting them as instructors. Must have got my current address through my outdoors card as I had not done a course in over 15 years. Seems old paperwork never dies, just remember that when they abolish the long gun registry
-
The old FAC never had a test for safe handling and knowledge of the law, it was basically a CPIC check for any criminal record, a statement you did not have any mental issues, and a waiting period due to the time it took to process. Any safety tests at that time would have been in the hunting license exam. Competency testing at the federal level began with the POL/PAL. An expired FAC would be pretty much useless for renewing under the POL/PAL system, with the competency testing.
