Where to retire to - Kawarthas or Muskoka?
fisherman7 replied to fisherman7's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the offer Big Cliff. We took a drive this weekend around Pigeon, Upper Buckhorn and Chemong. Once we get closer to the date I'll look you up. Thanks again. -
I heard the OPP used the video to identify the truck and charge the driver.

Where to retire to - Kawarthas or Muskoka?

Thanks everyone for their thoughts and opinions. It really is a big decision about where to go and I appreciate the help. Seems like the blue/green algae issue is a lot of hype so looks like Chemong/Buckhorn here we come - in about 2 years I hope! -
I have a lot of respect for the opinion of the members of this board. My wife and I are about 2 years away from our dream of retiring to a waterfront property but we can't decide between either the Chemong/Buckhorn lakes chain or Sparrow Lake/Port Severn/Honey Harbour area. Chemong/Buckhorn has great affordable waterfront communities and easy access to the 401 but I'm a little concerned about the blue/green algae in Pigeon and maybe will get to Chemong and Buckhorn. Sparrow Lake/Port Severn/Honey Harbour - I like the area, it has great fishing but the homes are more expensive and access to the GTA is on the very busy hwy 400. So, opinions anyone? If the blue/green algae wasn't an issue I'd head for Chemong or Buckhorn. Thanks in advance.

Anyone been to Little Lake lately ???
fisherman7 replied to redpearl99's topic in General Discussion
I can't tell you how the fishing is but I drive by there every day and there's about a dozen huts close to the 400 side. Been there for a while now. -
I've got a 9.9 two stroke Yamaha that starts first pull in the spring and has for the last 5 years. I'm starting to look at a bigger boat with a 90 or 115 and it will only be a Yamaha - or Honda if I have to. Just my 2 cents.

Saw the first ice hut out there yesterday. Still, best to be safe!

And the last time I sent a letter was to Santa - now I just email him! -
Like the many others have said, talk to him first and see what his side of the story is. Then offer to split the difference if his side seems reasonable. Seems a fair way to do it.

PS - Lots of water to fish as well.
-
I fish the PS area in my little inflatable as well. I only use a chartreuse spinner bait and usual catch 3-4 pike on my outings. Try fishing in 12-14 feet of water around the islands. PM me and I'll give you a location or two.

Best advice I got from the washing machine repair guy was "the more bells and whistles you get, the more I make". We just bought a new dryer and washing machine last year. Rotary dials and no electronics gizmos.

Try Driftwood Cove Marina. It has everything you're loking for.

Hi all, I've got a buddy who's recovering from a major illness that wants to get away for a few days of fishing and forgetting. I'm looking for something in the Kawarthas as it's close to his home. Cottage/cabin rental with reasonable comforts of home as he's still recovering and not ready to rough it. Needs to have boat/motor for rent as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Battery usage is very good on these models. Enjoy!

I've used on for years, but I don't ice fish. Good for still fishing and for trolling but anything above trolling speed they won't say in the holder. The sidefinder is an interesting feature as well. Doesn't show structure - just fish.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 tablet and have put the Navoinic HD app on it. It works better than the $1,000 Lowrance chart plotter!!!! Doesn't have all the functions but I use it to go from A to B and for contours.

Great report as usual. I was there in 2006 when the camp was called Kissing Otter. They didn't have the second cabin in though. Great fishing then and I can see it hasn't changed. Loved sitting up on the deck after a day of fishing and taking in the view. Glad to hear Hearst Air is going there and I may just go back, but Pym Island is still my favourite of all of Hearst Air's camps. Particularly if Harry's the guide.

Well, I've managed 7 different hospital facilities over the years and most times, I've had parking lot management as well. The parking lots need to be maintained at a higher standard than other lots due to issues with slips and trips from people who are already compromised. So, if we didn't charge for parking, then we'd have to come up with funds from within. That would mean less money for patient care and we already don't have enough. I know it's a sensative topic but unless funding gets increased, then the costs will passed back to the public. Various parking passes are offered to help alieviate some of the burden. If it's any consolation, as a staff member I have to pay for parking as well. Let the flaming begin!
