Hi all, just so you know - the secondary channel of the TSW (the one you take if you're going to Chemong from Bobcaygen) has open water now. This is the area between Fox island and Emerald island.
It was frozen but I think they've final opened up the dams in the town of Buckhorn.
So beware!!!!
I've been to many of Hearst Air camps over the years. Great operator and great equipment. As for Mike the pilot, I flew with him before he was shaving and he was excellent then and more skilled even now. George and Mike are renowned bush plane pilots. They are often featured on stories of the north.
Doyle Plumbing and Heating did my propane furnace, propane water heater, propane dryer, cook top and a new water well. Great service and no problem getting them to come back and fix little things.

Thanks all. Took the pee tube apart. It was completely clogged with what looked like too much lock-tite. Cleaned it up and it's pees like a racehorse now!
Hi all, quick question - does all the cooling water flow through the tube that puts a jet of water out the side of the motor or is that just an indicator?
We moved to upper Buckhorn Lake about 6 weeks ago and once getting settled in I've had the chance to go fishing on the weekends.
No much to report other than a few bass and I finally caught a very small walleye yesterday on a worm harness but one thing I am impressed with is how the fisher-people I have run into have readily shared their knowledge.
This is especially true of the two guys I ran into yesterday morning in the black Lund. They gave me tons of tips for walleye, and bass and would have kept talking if my darned cell phone didn't go off.
So glad I moved here from the hub-bub of Markham. Added bonus is car insurance for wife and my car is down almost $2k!
Hey all, moving this Friday to Buckhorn lake as the start of semi-sorta retirement begins. Attached a few picks of my new toy, and the house - but who really cares about the house!
Thermocell and plenty of refills. They were great when the bugs were buzzing around the bed. Looking forward to hearing about the trip. I've been to most of Hearst Air's camps but not that one. They are a great outfitter.
On the boat/motor front it's very hard to find a boat/motor combo that's not a Merc unless you go to a G3. Heard from a dealer that Merc has bought Lund and a few other boat manufacturers.
I've been looking for the last few years in anticipation of my move to cottage country. For me, it will only be either a grey or silver motor on the back of my ???? Haven't decided yet but leaning towards a G3.
Walked the Rouge on Saturday near the Milne Dam. Water still murky and only saw one cluster of trout. Maybe 15 or so just hanging around. Didn't see any suckers.
