  1. I can't offer suggestions but can confirm Mike from Hastings Marine is great to deal with. I live in Markham and drove all the way out there many times for sales and service. Great guy to deal with.
  2. Overall, I'm just jealous he has a fishing show and goes to great lodges and fly-ins and I don't!
  3. Amazing birds. Used to watch them at Lagoon City Marina. There are a number of Osprey nests on telephone polls just north of Beaverton on the road by the lake. Don't know the name but just follow the lake and you can't miss them.
  4. It's a 9.9 Yamaha. All that needed to be done was remove a stop. Mechanic told me it's the only Yamaha model that you do it with.
  5. I wrote about having this done some time ago but can't find post. I said I'd update the group when I had a chance to water test it. Well, had a chance yesterday on Couch. I still had to lean forward to get the dingy/inflatable/tender to plane, but once it planed, Holy! I didn't even give it full throttle. Goes like stink. I do believe I have figured out why it won't plane. My inflatable has long tubes that extend about 18" past the transom. Creates a lot of drag but stable when on plane. You lose a lot of interior room though. Live and learn.
  6. Where I work, we own 10 rental properties and we have had absolute nightmares. We renovated one property and a week later the tenant flood it out and the unit below him. We've spent over $10k evicting a tenant, who because they had no income got free legal services. The rules and the tenant board are very tenant friendly so if you don't have all your ducks in a row, good luck evicting. Still, I will personally be looking at rental property myself, but it will not be to a single person or family. I will be renting to students. I'd rather have 3-4 sources of rental income than have all my eggs in one person's basket. And yes, I know what they will do to the place - that's why you get a security deposit and Dad's email address to send pictures to.
  7. Great pics and a great story! I miss those days with my not so young one - now he outfishes me!
  8. Thanks guys! It's alive!!!!! Seems choke out until it tries to start, then choke in until it starts, then choke out to keep it going until it sputters and then choke back in. I should write that down but then what fun would I have next spring!
  9. Internal tank, plug is new and fully inserted into boot. I check and has good spark. So, over 50 pulls later still won't go. I tried choke out with two pulls, followed by at least 10. Then tried choke in, throttle on start position with at least 10 pulls, then tried throttle full on with at least 10 pulls, then gas off - choke out and throttle on full with at least 20 pulls. Still nothing! Once I get it going it's fine for the season but it is an absolute bugger to get going in spring. So, any thougths? What I really want to know is, do I choke for one pull and then keep trying or leave the choke out until it's going?
  10. Hey Guys, well it's Spring and time for me to wrestle with my 4hp, 4 Stroke Merc. What's the best way to start it when it's cold. Keep the choke out until it starts or pull a few times with the choke and then push it back in an keep pulling? It has a new plug and was properly stored for the winter. Any help would be appreciated as my arm is getting very tired! Thanks!
  11. Dear Fishing Buds - today I went to see the walleye spawning run at the place we don't like to name. It was quite a sight. There were some huge ones. I watched one particular male walleye, lets call him Wally romancing a female walleye - let's call her Wanda. Wally really looked like he had a shot. He swam downstream, picked up some flowers and carried them in his mouth to Wanda. She seemed quite taken with the gesture and she looked like she was going to give Wally a shot when outta nowhere comes this idiot Walter the walleye in his BMW and Wanda just jumped in a took off. Poor Wally. Better luck next year buddy! Seriously, only saw a few up close. Some out farther but there was so much water coming over the dam. Never seen it so fast. Probably good in a few days if we don't get rain.
  12. I've got laminate all over my house. You can beat it with a hammer (I've tried) and it won't dent. Just make sure you don't get the cheap stuff that's 7mm. I've used 8mm and still looks new. I have it in the computer room and my son rolls the chair constantly back and forth. 4 years later still looks new.
  13. I've had WFN since forever - 24/7 of fishing. If you're on Rogers I know you can order just that channel. It's great - and it has Mariko Izumi!
  14. Thanks for the replies. According to the mechanic, all that needs to be done is changing the reeds in the carb. I'm having it done this Sat and will probably test it out later in May. I'll let you know how it zips my little inflatable along.
  15. A friend of mine is taking Cubs and Scout fishing this summer and needs some suggestions for shore fishing anywhere in the GTA or up to an hours drive from the GTA. Doesn't matter what they catch as long as they catch something. So, any suggestions fellas? Thanks in advance.
  16. I have a 2007 2 stroke 9.9hp and the dealer told me I could change the carb and make it into a 15hp. I was wondering if anyone has done this or has any advice? Thanks!
  17. FYI - drove past Scugog yesterday. East side at 7a has no ice and West side has ice if you could call it that.
