  1. I haven't been able to tune in WFN on Roger's Cable all weekend, and I can't get some other channels as well. Anybody know what's happening?
  2. My wife fishes with me a fair bit. She's good company but doesn't like it when she doesn't catch anything. So sometimes we'll go to some weed beds and catch rock bass and sunfish. Makes her happy!
  3. Having just returned from the north and using a Globestar, let me tell you it was one royal pain in the ass waiting for the short service windows. Irridum is the way to go. They work much better in the north.
  4. Bump
  5. Hi All, my son and I heading to Magaskin Lake on August 20th. Would be interested to hear of any recent trips to Magaskin or Mikwam. Thanks!
  6. I'd either be a CPA as all my bosses have been CPAs or I'd be a teacher for the enjoyment of teaching and the lifestyle!
  7. I'm going to barf! Call a priest!!!!!
  8. Fished there long time ago. It was a great lrg and smallmouth bass lake. Use to catch smallmouth in 20' around island and largemouth in usual spots. Many 5lb plus catches. If you have a chance, there a small lake off WLK at the north east end. Very narrow pass but if you tip your motor up all the way you can make it. On the left is deep water and in oon the right is stumps. Have great success. Hope this info is still valid. It was 20 years ago but I remember it well.
  9. I've been down here all weekend overseeing one the hospitals and let me tell you, it's no fun! I've lost count of how many times we've shut down our fan system. Some of the cops have come in to use our washrooms and they have so much gear on I don't know how they walk, let alone breath. Kudos to the boys in blue, they've kept us safe from harm.
  10. So, last year I posted that I had my 2007 9.9 Yamaha 2 stroke converted to a 15hp with the simple exchange of a carb reed plate. Didn't have much chance to run it last year. I use it on the end of my tender and I always thought it was sluggish due to style of the tender. This year, motor stalls when I give it the gas. Brought to local mechanic and told him about the reed plate exchange. He tried to fix it and can't. Sends it to local Yamaha dealer who tells him that changing the reed plate won't do anything to increase HP. Have to change exhaust system, etc as well. So, needless to say that I am pissed at the dealer who sold me the motor, then charged me another $100 for the work and now everyone is scratching their head trying to figure out why it won't go. I won't say the name of dealer on this forum other than to say he's in the Kawartha's. I am considering reporting him to Yamaha though. I'm sure they'd be interested in this.
  11. Everytime I go on a fly-in, I bring a minnow trap, bait it with bread, place it in the shallows, bottom of rapids, beaver huts, and I have yet to catch anything. I'm going to Magaskin this August with my son. Does anyone have advice on how to catch minnows or preferably suckers?
  12. I've got 2 and they have suffered much abuse and just keep on going. Good all around rod!
  13. I agree!
  14. Why not just tell the beaver that there's someone with a better dock and better "wood" accross the lake. It's been my experience with beavers that they are always looking for better "wood". Somebody had to say it and I guess it was me!
  15. An accurate credit rating!
  16. I'm going to Magaskin in August so I'll be interested to hear your experience. As for tackle I always pack lots of 3"-4" white twister tales and 1/8 and 1/4 ounce black jig heads. I've found they work great when all esle fails. Spoons re-hooked with single hooks are great for ripping weeds for pike. Good luck! Took my boy on his first trip around that age.
  17. I went yesterday and the new venue is very bright and well lit. I always found the other venue somewhat dingy. Good, cheap food outside on front street. The one thing though is that I know I missed a number of areas because of the way it's layed out. I think once I've been a few times I'll figure it out, but over all I like it.
  18. I have to agree. Just came from my accountant yesterday and there are so many issues we were not aware of. Software is good if you have a simple income tax to file but a professional knows (or should know) so much more.
  19. Only place I know is the CT store on Hwy 48, south of Stouffville side road (walmart plaza). Been to the flea market many times and have never seen fishing stuff.
  20. If you're looking for good, newer used outboards, check Port Colborne Marine or Hastings Marine. I've dealt with them both and they are excellent.
  21. That's just freaky! I think if I saw that walking in the bush I'd swear it was bigfoot!
  22. To be fair, he didnt' have a lot of support either!
  23. Hi All, does anyone have any experience with the above outfitters? I'm looking to do a fly-in with my son before he heads off to university. Our primary interest is big pike with walleye for lunch. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rob
