It's been 2 weeks--It's now been 4 weeks update
jediangler replied to Bernie's topic in General Discussion
Way to go man, you can do it. Cold turkey is the way. It is the hardest addiction to kick, but the most rewarding. I quit when smokes went over $2 a pack, back around 1986 I think. Just keep active so the extra pounds don't add up. -
Great report and pics. Showing some patience payed off after all. Enjoy your meal.

I'm with singingdog about trying a few before you buy F&A. They have a little paddlefest at Laurel Creek conservation area in the spring where you can try as many as you want in one day. I agree with danbo about the sit in kayak but we are in the minority these days with everyone wanting sit on top yaks. I rented a few different ones myself and used a cheap rec sit in yak for 4 years before I decided to move up to a hybrid canoe/kayak cross. Yakfisher.net is a great new site with Ontario & Quebec guys that really know their stuff. Here is a link. http://www.yakfisher.net/smffiles/index.php There is also tons of info on this large american site Kayakfishingstuff with reviews on hundreds of different models. http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee/forums Hope to see you on the water in a new (or used) yak in the spring. Then maybe I'll show you where that quarry is .

Do yourself a favour and match up the fronts with the same snowtires. People forget that the snow tires on the drive wheels only gets you going better, but without snows on all four, your braking distance increases significantly. Stopping is as important, if not more, than getting going in the snow and ice.

Ottawa River + Tinbanger = Musky

Well done Tundradude. The drive home must have tired you out, you missed hockey tonight. Could have used an extra body on the bench. See you next Sunday. -
Congrats on the new boat Ryan. Great report, as always, Rich. That was a beauty of a largemouth you caught there. Next time Sugarpacket, you'll catch the biggun'. That's just the way it works sometimes. I agree with GCD investing in two drift socks would be money well spent if you're going to fish in conditions like that.

Great song GCD, Bonham was the best, bar none. I had tickets to the Pontiac Michigan show before he drank himself to death. "Achilles last stand" was always my fave Zep tune.

Sunday Morning Ottawa R. Muskie

Very nice fish, congrats. And on a pontoon boat, no less. . -
My brother, Joonmoon, and I were talking about the banana in the boat jinx earlier in the summer when it was a topic here on OFC. We were taking a kayak trip down the Grand river with our cousin from Alberta and my buddy the Shipper. Now the Shipper shuns all physical exercise and wouldn't paddle a kayak. So Joonmoon sneaks up behind him and throws a banana in his Sportspal when he wasn't looking. What happens? He catches the best fish of the day.

I forgot about McSorley. I laugh everytime I see that clip of him clubbing Brashear in the side of the head with his stick. Nobody deserved it more.

Cam Neely. He could do everything Wendy could do but better. That's why he's in the "Hall of Fame" and Wendy is not.

dragon?

Great report and surgery pics GCD. You're really dialed in on your home lake. I still wish we had some of them spotted bass up here, pretty fish.
-
Congrats. Is that a lake St.Clair fish? Looks kinda spotted like a St. Clair ski.
-
Nice bunch of smallies Tbayboy. You just gotta love the Grand.
-
Now that looks like fun. Great pics of you and the musky Jamie. I'm glad that fuzzy one wasn't the only pic that anyone got of you and that ski. Can't wait for the video, it'll be on my X-mas list for sure.
-
Congrats sharper, that is a nice one. Did you get a measurement on it? Looks to be 37-39". How close is my guess?

Here's my favourite classical metalist on video. YJM w/the new Japan Philharmonic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOvjybLQ4Q8...feature=related

Way to go Bro. Nomad is right, I have been looking for that one. I also see the similarities in that last pic. Is Gadget in the market for a boat? I'm thinking I may put the Sportspal up for sale. Gotta cover some of the cost of my new yak.

I used to go for a walkabout this time of year at Wildwood. Good for searching stump locations and where the old river channel runs. Maybe even pick up a few lures snagged on down timber and stumps. All the fish are up by the dam now and can be had from shore or boat. Just remember C&R so that there are some left for next year.

One last cast for the year = a new pb muskie

Congrats and what a way to end the season . -
You're in the know, danbo . Who needs an operators card? We don't need no stinking operators cards .
-
No Cliff, I think I'm pretty much going to leave it stock. I have to figure out a camera mount and mod my cart for the different hull design, other than that, maybe a FF for next year. Here is a link to the manufacturers website for anyone interested. http://www.nativewatercraft.com/

Congrats on the new PB little man. Island lake is one of my favourites.

Well holdfast, it's considered a hybrid. Part canoe, part kayak. It is recommended to use a kayak paddle. It's made of Tegris which is used as bullet proof clothing for the military. It is less than 1/8 of an inch thick and weighs 28lbs with the seat removed. It has skirts that cover it and make it look more like a kayak but I haven't tried mine yet. Maybe tomorrow. I don't troll but you can stand up in it although I don't feel comfortable with that yet, that's how stable it is. Here is a link to a video on Youtube of a guy standing and flyfishing out of a Tegris 12.
