  1. You know what a dog looks like, you know what a weiner dog looks like, you know what a pike looks like... Now you know what a weiner pike looks like. Caught this 22 incher yesterday at Mountsberg on a J-13 in orange right after the rain stopped at 12:15. Also caught two others including this one that hog tied itself on both trebles. Everyone I talked to was having a hard time out there catching one or none at all. Other than the rain it was a nice day for a paddle and the fish were just a bonus.
  2. Found this link on the KFS kayak fishing site and thought it could be of use to many OFNers. http://www.windfinder.com/forecasts/wind_great_lakes_akt.htm It shows wind speed and direction all over the world, pretty cool really.
  3. I caught this 36"er at Guelph a few years back on a 1/4oz football jig and double tail grub in pumpkinseed while trolling. It was caught right out in front of the swimming area near the island with the stage on it. The best part was listening to the eastern european guys fishing along the shore when I released it. You would have thought I was throwing money overboard. I have had success with 1/8oz jig & grub combos in white for both bass and pike as well. Good luck, looking forward to the report and pics.
  4. Not a chance
  5. No pike, just musky. I get most of mine on black bucktails with gold blades.
  6. Congrats Bro & Sis. Now you finally have a boat that is faster than me in my kayak. That's the real reason you bought it right?
  7. Can't beat a jig for bass. I assume you ate that largie, how did it taste from the bog?
  8. Sounds like a good time. Great pics. No muskies?
  9. Great pics. I love the Grand and should get out more since I live right in KW. Some places are showing the effects of expanded housing developements close to the water. Increased garbage and such. It's sad really.
  10. Well done and congrats on finishing 2nd. In our musky derby, instead of putting the fish through the stress of another photo with a measuring tape, we have the angler who didn't catch the fish do the official measurement. The guy who caught it holds the tape to the head and the other angler takes the tape to the tail. What he calls out for length is what stands. I remember taking pics of one my brother caught in Sturgeon with the tape for the OFC derby a couple of years ago. The added stress made for a very long revival time. Then the tourney went for a crap for reasons I never fully understood. I have always felt bad about that and haven't entered the OFC tourney since. Maybe the musky division should be dropped or the tape photo idea should be scrapped for that species.
  11. Nice fish, Congrats. Here's hoping a quick recovery for BBNOTTY
  12. You'll get that smallie next time. What kind of snake is that?
  13. Someone has been dropshotting on their heads . Great report. I always find it more rewarding putting someone else on fish.
  14. You better get that truck all washed off before Sunday's hockey. You wouldn't want Frank to see how you treat your Tundra.
  15. Congrats on that giant Bly. Those big buggers sure can pull eh? Your time will come Cliff.
  16. I think they are on the right side as you approach the launch. During the summer they gather in numbers for suds and smoke. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you might not want the language and late parties right next door.
  17. Good job, just keep pluggin away and you'll get your 40".
  18. Great report and pics you two. Too bad about your luck on the Grand but she can be a fickle mistress when she wants to be. That is a really nice smallie as well Rich, well done. I'd say that fuzzy critter is a mink. I'm no expert but I think Martens have a white patch under their chin and are a bit larger in size.
  19. You could probably get the properties next to the bikers at the launch ramp for cheap.
  20. Went to Shades with the Shipper for a few hours on Sunday afternoon to try our luck and enjoy a beautiful sunny day. When we arrived we found that a large number of people were there for a company party. They had a big tent with a live jazz band playing. It was pretty cool fishing with the music loud enough we could hear it all over the lake. I took the kayak and Shipper took his Sportspal. The weeds are on the decline now, so we could fish almost everywhere. I caught 3 crappies, 2 rockbass and a baby largemouth all on jigs. The Shipper caught a stick, with a bobber on it. The bobber still had line and a hook, on the hook was a good sized catfish. He wanted to know if that counts as a landed fish. I said "you landed it, so it counts". I had to unhook it because he was afraid having never handled a cat this size. It swam away slowly but surely. We saw 3 other boats on the water including a bass boat with a 90hp outboard that was jacked up out of the water (no gas motors policy). A few shore fishers, mostly families with young kids, were catching bluegills and rockbass. Nice day to be on the water.
  21. Try Emily Provincial park at the south end of Pigeon lake. Camping right next to a great chance for your first ski. Not much boat traffic at this time of year.
  22. Nice fish Terry, they are cute as a button when they are that size. I just want to pinch their little cheeks.
  23. I'd say burn a bucktail by him, and man, sharpen those hooks.
  24. I saw them for the "Fly on the Wall" tour in TO at the gardens. I think it was 85 or 86. I was actually there to see the opening act. It was Yngwie Malmsteen. He was amazing, I ended up getting one of his guitar picks that night, still have it. The boys from downunder did put on a great show and Angus' energy is endless. You'll enjoy yourself.
  25. That Pluton costs $100 more than I paid for my kayak! Ouch.
