  1. great looking dish there... shore fishing is a blast sometimes... it gives the sea legs a chance to relax...
  2. too bad about that 50... but thats what keeps us coming back for more... nice walleye you got there also... looks like you had some nice weather there also...
  3. hey simon.... id wait to put the insulation on... your gunna have a wood fire burning a couple feet away from you... i insulated my shack... and heated with a propane heater... cooked us out on low... and wood fire is way hotter... so i say try it out... if you find it chilly... the insulate it on the ice... its not hard to do...
  4. Wash it immediately after it's out of the water... This way the scum doesnt have a chance to dry...
  5. Figured I'd post the fish that got me to start this thread...
  6. If you fish outside a shack... I'd have to say use mono... I use fireline crystal or clear mono... But that's inside a shack...always...
  7. Sweet catch... And thumbs up for thinking of the fish instead of your personal photo collection...
  8. then how come nothing in a dollar store comes from Canada...lol i worked for a company that had other companies make their product to their specs... are stuff was great... the outsourced stuff was crap... and that is within our borders...
  9. i like PP landed a 48 inch ski the other day on 10ln test... its tuff stuff
  10. wow... talk about getting chills
  11. Yes Roy You need to be very very prepared... Never alone Lots of lights including headlights Keep you boat clean and tidy Keep you lures put away Keep your rods out of the way Have release tools redaly available Have a first aid kit in the boat PFDs on Musky fishing is challenging and dangerous enough in daylight Nightime is worse Removing/cutting hooks without good lighting is incredably scary... After getting a good size musky fishing walleye I realized the challenges of nightime musky angling... I had no cutters... Forgot my headlight... And had to grab the fish out of the water bare hands... I got lucky everything went well...
  12. I was gunna go to the surface... All the fish were rising in the water column... We even spotted one cruising 2-3 feet under the surface in 15-20 FOW...
  13. berkely gulp or gulp alive... you can get almost any color or shape you want... its a biodegratable bait... that looks and feel like a soft plastic... the gobies cant get it off your hook as easily... i put gulp on my worm harnesses and catch just as much walleye... and 1 gulp can catch a bunch of fish... most nights i can get up to 10 on 1 piece of gulp
  14. nightime musky is a bit of a new thing for me... the latest i normally stay out is 30 min to an hour after dark but last night was fun... i wanna try it more often in the high pressure areas...
  15. Lew... I'll take advice from you any day... I'll let you know how I make out next night fish I do...
  16. i think im just blabbing more.... :blahblah1: trying to keep you guys entertained... :clapping:
  17. thanks lew... the one we caught we had our lights off... but it was just getting dark... ill have to try again with lights out... i just didnt think a dull light would spook em... but at least i know where a 50 is sitting... hopefully she stays till saturday for Dontcryformejanhrdina...
  18. Good points The fish we did get was lights out on the "L" turn... My friend had no clue it was there...
  19. went out for musky for a couple hours tonight... got a 43 incher and had 2 follows... 1 of the follows was over 50 inches... all the action was after dark... biggest question i have for any nightime musky hunters... headlight on or off? ive fished walleye with my headlight on and watched them take my lure a few feet away... if my headlight was off... i would have never seen them... but i think it may have spooked them... any thoughts?
  20. Those are some thick rock carp you got there...
  21. You can also trim up your motor... This also will slow you down
