  1. Pre tied is really expensive... I'm a stay at home dad... I have time to tie...
  2. Anybody know a bait shop east of Toronto that sells loose roe...?
  3. would you suggest coho or chinook eggs if i order from these guys?
  4. Like I said... I'm 3 hours from trout waters... So I'm not gunna drive 3 hours on hopes of salmon egg handouts... I'll check for hatcheries... But I don't think there are any around here... I'm between Ottawa and Montreal...
  5. nice catch... hopefully they are "ON" when you come down here...
  6. well... i have lots of artificials to try for steelhead this winter... but sometimes you cant beat the real thing....roe problem is... i dont have the real thing... so i was wondering if the store bought single eggs are any good for tying roe bags? from what i can tell... they are just professionally cured salmon eggs... so i figure they will work... i know they are expensive... but so is a 3 hour trip to try and get a female chinook just for the eggs.... and give away the meat... i figure its about 50 bucks for 12 1.5oz jars...so 18oz by volume not weight... and i also figure each trip i would use 1-2 jars... so id get 6-12 trips for 50 bucks in bait...4-8 bucks a trip in bait... anyways...what do you steelhead guys think about Pautzke's "Balls O' Fire" Salmon Eggs in roe bags? i am also open to other suggestions... thnx mike
  7. I'd like to see the link to that... Only guidewear I found around that % was the regular jacket in 2-3-4-5 xl
  8. i think at the time you did all you could do... now... you can put a marker out like a javex bottle or something... but how was the fishing???
  9. sorry roy... didnt mean it like that... i just saw it as a more creative way to push a great product...
  10. it was nice meeting you boys out there on sunday... it was a real hit and miss bite lately...we had a really hard time this weekend... Saturday especially... 10 follows...no fish... you boys got a skunk too... but my other friend... 4 by noon... 54" 45" 45" 35"... what the heck? and tuesday we got 3 in 2-3 hours... i guess thats fall musky for ya... windows......
  11. fishouflage is his sponsor... whats the difference? hes just pushing product... that was basically a commercial...
  12. ive been told 16-18 bucks per foot... so 320-360... per boat... this is why i suggest a boat cover... you can get a good one for around 250-500 bucks... that way you get to reuse it... why pay the same amount or more for something you throw in the trash every year...?
  13. I'm so pumped for fal fishing today... I had a hard time sleeping... I'm still like a kid on Christmas...
  14. 3rd generation of fisherman in our area... Grandpa was a guide... Dad was a guide... My mom didn't work while I was growing up... So we spent our summers at our cottage on the st.Lawrence river... From 6am-9pm we were outside... Catching frogs... Turtles... And most importantly... Fish My first boat was a 17 foot flatback canoe with an electric motor... So I had to learn how to fish tge spots closest to the boathouse... I was very fortunate to have the childhood i did... And tge family I have... Growing up tge way I did gives me appreciation for the outdoors and "instincts" on the water... I love my hobbie and I don't know what I'd do without it... And I can't wait to teach my son (4th generation fisherman?)Connor the love of the sport...
  15. Why bother tho...? There are plenty of lakes to catch musky... I understand that simcoe would grow some giant musky... But trying to bring back an "extinct" fish to a water body... Why not help lakes that have struggling musky populations? That can easily be helped...?
  16. So... What about guys that enjoy catching and eating pike??? Why stock a lake that has pike that will eat the musky??? Why not just stock lakes without many pike...? Then the efforts being put out will actualy make a difference... Why bother with simcoe? Then the trout... Whitefish... And perch populations get effected... I dunno... Simcoe has a healthy fishery and plent of tourism... Why not put the efforts in somewhere that could use the tourism boost and better fishery? My 2 cents anyways...
  17. Musky have really boomed in the past 10 years in my area... And pike have all but disappeared in the past 10 years... I believe that the pike numbers dropping have helped the musky population... here anyways...
  18. I shipped mine to ny them picked it up Ordered Thursday... Picked it up Tuesday...
  19. Yup... The suit and bag and shipping would have been over 600 50 cent shipping 60 dollar tackle bag free 270 after shipping and taxes... Very pleased with the suit... But it's been to nice out to use it... Lol
  20. That's great... But still pretty sad that there is only 1 musky stalking program in Canada...
