  2. nice day... hoping to head up next weekend...
  3. nice haul... the pup seems to be doing well... i love the shots of the pup carrying the duck cant wait for my brother to shoot some ducks... i wanna cook some up...
  4. i was trolling... if you can call it that... 0-0.5 mph... when he was ir rod length i though he was gunna hit me...
  5. thats just it... i was staying away from the area that most fish... and he migrated towards me... then i moved... and the cat came back...lol
  6. so i was wondering how close you guys let a boat get before the old 1 finger sign language comes out and you exercise your "outdoor voice" the other night i was trolling a "community" spot that usually has other boats... i can deal with that... but this guy wasnt catching... and we were pounding... he obviously thought it was the area we were in... he kept coming closer and closer and closer... until i could literally touch his boat with my rod tip ... i wish i was kidding...lol so me being the bigger man... i move 2-3 hundred feet upriver... cause i knew it wasnt location... it was technique... 20 minutes later... there he is again... closer and closer and closer... it took everything i had in me not to flip my lid on this guy... so i was wondering where you would draw the line...? was this a situation were i should have educated this fellow and told him he was in the wrong? or am i overreacting? i know who the guy is... he isnt a nooby... he is a good fisherman that knows better... thats what got me fuming... mike
  7. http://www.northlandtackle.com/Category/main.taf?cat=17&pc=527 these northland bucktail airplane jigs are really good baits as well... really trigger big pike...
  8. buck-a-roo jigs are good with 4-6 inch minnows and stinger hook for pike
  9. too funny... now im gunna have to take a picture of a walleye holding a stringer with me and mercman hanging from it... thatll be tough....
  10. Northland buckshot... All sizes for all fish... It's my top producer for every species...
  11. ive been told that fall go small and natural and spring go big and bright...is this the case? in normal conditions anyway....
  12. i know im a pain sometimes...lol but i figure if i had started a thread asking you guy to tell me everything you know about float fishing steehead... i wouldnt have got much... so im picking at you guys bit by bit to try and learn how to catch these fish.. so the size 4 hook would be for the "loonie" size sacs and the size 10 for sacks smaller then a dime?
  13. well i did an ofc search... and didnt really find any good threads on roe bags... i know preferences are different between anglers and conditions... but i though this thread could help a lot of people including myself... so im asking the steelhead guys to chime in with opinions based on personal experience... i wanna know things like... if you had to use only one color and size and species of eggs for a bag... what would it be? ill take any information you guys will spill... so feel free to rant and :blahblah1: :blahblah1: :blahblah1: :blahblah1: :blahblah1: i wanna hear it and im guesing others do as well... also... hook size relative to roe bags... ive read so many articles about hook size that contradict themselves... thank mike
  14. well fishing is like heroin for me.... so to go all winter without fishing would be pretty rough... i wish i could fish open water year round... but i cant... so i ice fish... and every year i think about selling all my ice gear... kepp in mind the water i fish is the st.lawrence river... serious lack of safe ice on the river... serious lack of spots to fish....
  15. great year man... those cats are sweet.... they look like fun...so fat
  16. pretty much the slipping... i played with my boards this summer to get more comfortable with em... and was having problems with the 10lb pp... just did feel right... slipping... i tried the looping trick... it helped but i am woried my inexperienced friends will somehow mess up releasing the loops and creating a not or tangle and costing me my trophy..
  17. so considering i fish 2mph most of the time... against 1-5mph current(every spot i fish is different)... leadcore would be tricky... i guess thats why most guys in my area use a 3 way rig with a sinker...
  18. leadcore is really interesting to me... ive always thought about using it to flatline shallow diving baits like husky jerks to get them to the depths i want.... now im assuming you use a leader from the core to your lure...? how long do you prefer for this? ive read that each color of core gets you down about 5 feet... is this about right?
