  2. Jesus... That's a lot if $$$$ siting there...
  3. You don't have to go "shallow" But I would try higher in the water column... I've seen musky rise to the surface over 20-30 FOW to what seems like sunbath...
  4. I like many others have heard "big bait=big fish" So I have spent big $$$ on these huge and expensive baits.. With nothing to show for it... So im wondering if any of you guys actually catch on these 12-18 inch lures... More specifically trolling big cranks... I've tried em with no results... Then switched to my go-to baits and caught... Is it a water temp thing? Speed? Thnx everyone... I just wanna justify the $$$ I spent on these goddy baits...
  5. Im going smallie with an odd color pattern...
  6. Large plastics and live bait Check out red October baits... They make 7-12 inch tubes with harnesses for any presentation... Also mag bulldogs... I personally lean on live bait in the fall...
  7. Make sure you have a large drip pan... The oil goes everywhere... Get a new filter... Roll of paper towel... And try to run the motor to get it warm fist... You can use the muffs and hose... Let it idle for 5-10 minutes...
  8. Check out automaticfisherman on YouTube... They look pretty sweet... They set the hook for you before the fish can drop the bait... Wich is aparentky legal... I'll be buying 1 or 2 this winter now that I know they're legal...
  9. must be a kind of loop hole.... cause it is illigal to... • Possess a spring gaff, snagger or spear gun within 30 m (98 ft.) of any waters. A spring gaff includes any spring loaded device which sets the hook for an angler. No person shall take fish with a gaff, snare, snagger or spear gun. A gaff, other than a spring gaff, may be used to assist in landing fish caught by lawful means. this is why i havent bought any...
  10. I do believe these are illegal in Ontario.. Can't use anything that sets the hook automatically...
  11. I had a day of "steelhead" fishing in a river with cranks... 20+ suckers... 0 steelhead... I was blown away
  12. too bad your day was ruined.... why cant that stuff happen on your way to work...lol well...it could always be worse....
  13. I was pretty exited when we dialed em in and the hits kept coming... Water temp was 60 btw...scugog... Also saw Marc Thorpe... Wich kinda sucked cause he just finished combing over one of my spots... But that's fishing... Thnx everyone
  14. well... had a great day yesterday... for numbers of fish anyways... i had planned on drifting live bait for musky... but the wind direction would have made this difficult... so i started trolling cranks... seeing as the water temps are dropping... i figured id slow down a bit... apparently a mistake... after 1-2 hours without a fish... i decided to bump up the speed from 3.5-4mph to 5-6mph... 30 seconds later the clicker was doing its job... 36" fish soon after we got a second fish... 38" fish now we had the pattern going... speed... color... depth/line length... time for lunch... get back out... set up on the pattern again... bingo... another fish 40" by this time its all around smiles... now we are grinding and covering lots of water with the pattern we figured out... bang... another fish at 42" every fish was getting bigger...this i like... at this point i was looking forward to the "big" bite window coming up in the evening... i figured if the fish were biting like this all day... that window may produce a big fish... well the window produced a fish... but not the size i was hoping for... another nice musky at 43 inches... so in the end... we trolled for 30-40 miles... 10 hours on the water... cut 8 hooks...5 musky boated... 36-38-40-42-43 inchers...
  15. Regular spark plug sockets don't fit... You need to get a regular style long socket... I'll try to remember to check the size for you... Pm me to remind me if I forget

  21. same as my truck... 10w30 synthetic
  22. the weirdest part of this "no pike" zone im refering to... 10 km either way and there are plenty of pike... big ones too... we used to get pike grabbing our perch... now its musky... in a day of largemouth fishing... id get 5-10 pike... now... im surprised to get one... my dad thinks it has to do with farming along the creeks and rivers in the direct area... this "no pike" zone... every creek and river runs threw miles and miles of farmland... he figures the modern chemicals in fertilizer mixed in the spring run off are contaminating the pike eggs before they have a chance to hatch... the areas 10km either way... have rivers and creeks without farming... or at least mass crop farming... i dont think cows pollute too much... kinda interesting... all this aside.... there are very healthy populations of pike and musky living together in the st.lawrence... i think these fish can share waters when there are abundant areas to spawn and plenty of forage... but in a small lake... lets say with one creek in and one out... not much for panfish...i believe pike and musky will definatly step on each others...em...fins survival of the fittest
  23. I've heard the difference in musky strains determines spawning habitat... So as long as the musky and pike aren't using the same areas... The musky fry aren't eaten... From what I've seen musky on the st.lawrence spawn in bays... Mostly And the pike go up creeks and rivers... From what I've heard... There are pike and musky in the st.lawrence... Different areas have more or less of each... And in one area I know of... Pike are almost non existent... We used to catch a bunch every year... Now I can count on one hand how many I catch... Now I'm bableing on...
