  1. I'd be interested in finding the answer to this one as well. I fish for salmon every year on a charter boat and we all catch a few fish. I'd like to think we're doing the right thing as far as being within our limit, should we be using different colored tags??
  2. I've never targeted cats up here in Ontario but when I did back home in VA I always used a surf rod with 80 lb braid which also doubled as a striper rod
  3. Hey Darrell Happy Birthday man hope you have a great one.
  4. I'd have to say For whome the bell tolls or Am I evil.
  5. Great report Simon and WTG on the Pike for Team 3 I also love the pic of you sleeping with your son, brings back many happy memories. I'll say again enjoy these happy moments now as before you know it he'll be out there with you and kicken your butt Way to go and congrats again
  6. Happy Birthday Bly all the best to you on this special day
  7. I've always found that the BIG Cats want to stay on the bottom and they will let you know that!! Once you get them off of it they will dig hard to get back there.
  8. I'd personally have more than a compression test done on the motor. I think the trailer is to short and you don't want to have to deal with transom effects down the road. The props not that much of an issue but I'd have him take you out for a ride in it first for sure. I'd offer you one of my spare props to test it but I'm running a 115 Merc. There are a lot of things that could be wrong and that would tell you a lot as well as having the motor and transom checked by a local marina or shop. Just my two cents
  9. Great post Simon, man I would love to be able to fish like that just outside of my house! Man take all the pictures and video's that you can of your son growing up, it happens to fast. Before you know it he'll be all over you about how he skunked you fishing, like mine does to me. And he's only 8!! and I've been hearing it for a few years now It's a great feeling for sure
  10. I think that everyone has pretty much covered it. Just watch the regs as I know some area's pike closes on the last day of March. And remember they are an ambush predator that uses cover to hide. In the colder waters that we have here, they are very lazy to chase a bait. Hope this helps you out and best of luck to you
  11. Glad to see you guys got to get out. We'll all have to get together soon
  12. Great report and pics Bruce. Nice to see Bill took that long needed break from the home renovations to get in a great day fishing I gotta ask, how did you get him out of the house???? I've been trying for over a week now
  13. Have you tried Bigugli? He usually has something for everywhere Bruce knows a lot about most local area's so I'd try him.
  14. I hope you have a great Birthday Beans. Get out there and have a blast!!
  15. Thanks for the info as I wasn't sure, still some great catches for sure man and I thank you sir
  16. Thanks for the great report and pics MJL Looks like a great day out on the water.
  17. Great report Ben, I just have to ask as I've never caught a ling in fresh water, how do they fight? I've caught a lot of them in the ocean and it's like reeling in a tire after the initial fight.
  18. A hard and quick hit to the head with a club will usually do it.
  19. First may I say Kudo's to you Marc and all the members of the Coast Guard involved, great job on everyones part Thank you Marc for the post, just goes to show that if something goes wrong don't let pride or anything else get in the way. This is a perfect example of a situation that could have gone horribly wrong if not addressed appropriately. And my hat's off to all involved on taking the proper actions needed
  20. Great report and pics Limeyangler, before you know it he'll be out there fishing with you. Trust me my friend it goes by fast, mine is now 8 and a few on here can confirm he has put me down a few times and I admit there's no feeling better than being humbled by your kids
  21. I'd have to guess that seeing no tow package involved it's probably the 3:92 ratio. However I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time
  22. Congrats on the new PB Fang it's a hog As for the mishap with the landing don't sweat it man we all make mistakes, that's how we learn. A few jabs and rags on your budy and he'll not forget
  23. WOW! Is it a supply and demand thing? That's a lot for a half dozen, I'm used to paying 5.00 for a large scoop
  24. If you have an unheated garage or shed where you can prevent the water from freezing works great
  25. Jacques thanks for the great report and pics and congrats to Melissa on her PB I know how you feel about getting out there with the kids fishing, it's the greatest feeling when they out do themselves and get a PB
