  1. Nice trip Rick. nothin beats a few days up north and some great fishing. We'll maybe the song of a wire dipsie running out to 500
  2. Nice I always hot smoke mine at around 150 for 8 hours.
  3. I tried one of the small trout lakes in the park many years ago with no luck. Not much help I know. Some sections of the big east river have decent smaller fishing. The bridge by the Dwyer monument would be one of them.
  4. Sorry for your loss, I have one grandparent left and he means more to me than he will ever know. Tough brake on the car too. Glad you caught a few fish.
  5. Keep driving to Agawa bay It puts you closer to more things in the park. Sand river is a nice hike. I. Gargantua is a cool place to check out the road is pretty rough I wouldn't want to do it in a car. any of the lakes in the park along the highway are stocked with Brookies a small spinner tipped with a worm will get you some.
  6. Bernies family still makes them today, and they are affordable compared to an aluminum. I'm often tempted to pick up a new 18 ft . http://www.gieslerboats.ca/
  7. Nice, we're going to try and wrap up our Giesler resto this winter. Dads retiring so that will help

  9. Mmmmmmm...fresh caught never frozen smoked coho....
  10. My dad has one and it's the cats meow. Will crank up to 375 and go slow for fish and cheese . Fully auto set it and come back 15 hours later on a big smoke. There are some electronics to keep dry make sure you get a cover.
  11. No need to let wood dry with 5200 it actually will cure faster with moisture present.
  12. Nice going, we were out yesterday and the wind from the 2nd really mixed things up. We picked through small 5 lb Chinook for a few hours then found some warmer and also danced with rainbows and cohos. They sure are a Blast when they are smashing stuff in the top 25 fow, we ad a bunch launch into the air 50 ft off the back of the boat before we knew they were hooked
  13. Nice we were out and off the lake at 9 went 5/7 mostly a spoon bite. Lost the biggest fish of the season so far and kept a few for the smoker Hellava season so far in the west end

  18. I just keep it in back of my mind that all Great Lakes are trying to kill me at all times..... Keeps me out of trouble...I'm sure it got nasty in the afternoon.
  19. We do the same, some of the charter guys go so far as to have a aerated live well with iced water to put them in for 10 min before release. We unhook in the net quick picture then drag with boca grip till they look like they are ready to go.... This one didn't make it, I always feel guilty when it happens.
  20. Awesome report thanks for taking the time really makes me want to get out for some bass.

  23. Nice going, sure are some pigs in that lake.
  24. Gotta, over bass opener....we had the lake to ourselves Thought a about long point for bass but I haven't been on the big pond in 3 weeks and I had the itch. Sat. Had my Dad and younger brothers out ..slow start to the day didn't move a rod till 11 then it picked up with a bunch of small 5-8 lb salmon everybody got to land a fish so the pressure was of. The dipsy fires and I realize this wasn't your average fish so I handed it to Dad I don't normally like catching lakers in the summer as they don't release too well so I try to avoid catching them... This one came up and smashed a wire dipsy meat rig down about 50 ft over 200 ft of water and when he realized he was hooked he headed straight for the bottom. Tipped the scales at 23. Was 32 inches long with a 24 inch girth. Pictures don't do this fish justice. I only have the measurements because unfortunately the fish would not release. It will now be fed to the barn cats at the farm Sunday The forecast was super sketchy heading into Sunday calling for 30 kph winds around 9 . Adam and I decided to play chicken with the weatherman. Launched at 5 and the lake was flat till 10. And some fish came to cooperate also. It was the exact opposite of yesterday I couldn't get the second downriggers set for the first half hour with 3 fish right off the bat. Went 5/7. Mostly smaller fish again with a nice teen and this Hawg mixed in. Great weekend.
