  1. I thought instantly of someone giving her a biased view as well. No ten year old would form that one-sided opinion on their own. The resolution saves face for both but, in the end you are still the parent. I would engage her in an emotionless discussion to find the basis for her "firmly held beliefs". As an aside, you should contact Lezlie and propose this as a story idea although I am sure this has come up before. Cheers, Mark
  2. Clam says it reduces the torque on the drill itself through the use of bearings in the adapter plate. FYI - Sail has it on sale for 15% off $80 right now. http://clamoutdoors.com/store/clam/augers/conversion-kit/ice-auger-conversion-kit-drill-plate.html Cheers, mark
  3. Tickets available at the door Dax? Cheers, Mark
  4. I used the word "carry" but, I properly should have used the word Payload. I agree that I would rarely ever be pulling that much. Thats why I was referring to payload capacity. RAM 1500 Laramie, V6 Diesel, Quad, auto, 6.4, 4x4 gives a payload of 1,076 lbs. Towing of 8,000. Two guys, an ATV in the bed and you are already near Max. Thats before your gear or any tongue weight. Apparently, some hunters could easily be dinged. Some other model Diesels with same specs had a max payload of close to 1,400 lbs and a towing of 7,800lbs. I think this is what he was referring to. http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/towing_guide/ Cheers, Mark
  5. My buddy was telling me that as a result of the diesel engines greater weight, the load capacity of the truck is greatly reduced. (at least in comparison to what a comparable F150/Silverado can carry. Is this true? If so, isn't that paying alot more for less? Cheers, Mark
  6. A trucker crashed into a bridge on the 401 near Wilmot Creek. http://www.citynews.ca/2014/12/16/tanker-spills-20000-litres-of-diesel-on-hwy-401-near-newcastle/ Mark
  7. I used my 18V Makita last year with no problems. Even through two feet of ice. Not black ice mind you but, plenty of friction nontheless. I was more worried about what that torque would do to the drill so I really babied it through the day. I never went straight through in one go. I stopped and cleared the hole frequently. I also kept all the batteries in a small insulated cooler bag with a hot water bottle to keep them warm through the day. I also put the battery in use back in the cooler bag when I was done drilling. If anything went south, one bolt unscrewed and I could put the handle back on(not needed yet but, good to have as a backup). Brian, Lebaron's has 15% off their regular price of $90.94 (the 6") for members until Christmas. Cheers, Mark
  8. I second the call for spam. Arch complaining...this bait(in particular) is so good, it takes the skill out of fishing. Mark
  9. If it is convenient to stop into their place in Oshawa, do it. Otherwise, the response/outcome is pathetic at best. They don't make 'em like they used to (and other applicable cliches...). Cheers, Mark

  12. JB's should have them. The shop is a little different as they are still reeling from their Insurance debacle after the flooding. I would double check on Shortwave....I think they might have closed or at least moved. Correct me if wrong. Cheers, Mark

  16. New this fall on History...Backwoods GOLD! --- with Chris Brock and his intrepid team of ambivalent Polaris denizens. Watch how they make do with machines they tolerate! Nice as always Chris. Thanks for posting, Mark
  17. I would echo backbay comments about Mass. PP. We have always done well there for Pike and Bass and being on GB there is always the potential for Musky or others. There is lots of water, backbays, etc. to explore and fish with little other boat traffic. Cheers, Mark
  18. Pure boiling water will kill all plant life. No salt or acid required. Cheers, Mark
  19. Just started to see more endorsements of this product lately. Remembered this thread... It can probably be found cheaper than MEC but, posted this to prove its availability locally. Careful of spelling. Tecnu http://www.mec.ca/product/5023-745/oak-n-ivy-tecnu-outdoor-skin-cleanser-355ml/ Cheers, Mark
  20. It is worth it to add weight to the bow as well when solo. Whenever I am solo with the 12 footer I bring a 5gal pail or two and slap on a Gamma lid, fill it with water and/or rocks after you launch. Job done. Empty when done fishn'. http://www.leevalley.com/en/garden/page.aspx?p=10006&cat=2,2260,47776 Cheers, Mark
