i have no experience with it but i would think red is a pretty prominent colour and probably more visible underwater then others...well ...unless you are fishing in australia right now cuz of the red sandstorms

I commend you for your efforts Harrison in my mind Mission Accomplished...regardless if it went in one ear and out the other they moved on and if enough of us did the same as you possibly the kids will learn that they cant get away with it because people and cameras like Photoz are watching ....If the ministry is reading this thread ...might not be a bad idea just to post a BOLD sign stating that the dam is monitored and have a dummy cam installed. I bet it would deter some kids that do know better from trying to get away with something. Sure there are people and kids that have no regard and could care less but hopefully a CO would be fortunate enough to be there during these times. People act differently when they believe a camera is watching Photoz your camera has done a great justice to this issue regarding awareness ... Me being a person that targets only salmon and bows (year round) for enjoyment weather its catching or raising ....i formally apologize to you sir if you feel my feathers might have been a bit ruffled ...i commend you for your actions Take Care ..Good Luck...and try to wet a line in the near future

Jeff when my son was his age i used to take him to the mouth of Port Albert on Lake Huron ...its a safe beach like atmosphere that does hold fish and relives you of any hasards that may happen in faster water ...i suspect if he is anything like my guy was at that age ...he will fish for a while and then play in the sand...where you can keep an eye on him and still fish in productive water hope it helps and good luck to the two of you pardon the spelling ...too lazy to correct it right now

lol....i love it .... i was fishing in san diego (point loma) california and my son and i went out on a charter for sea bass and some other kinda fish that looked like a bass up here but red and poisonous....anyways ...were chuggin out on this boat and the deck hands are giving instruction on how to catch the fish ( jigging ) lol..and to get our bait down as fast as possible so the sea lions dont get it ...well after about ten bass my son is eyeing one of the sea lions and decides to take his time getting his bait down...( purposely) and wham!!!!!!!!!! sea lion on!!!!!!!!!!! it almost ripped the rod from his hands as he was yelling for help and i just got there in the nick of time to grab the rod and him from going over.....i have never been spooled in a matter of seconds in my life....and all the time i was thinking ....ohhhh i hope this isnt tied at the bottom but i did try to fight him ...not a chance of stopping him at all .....luckily ...it wasnt tied on the spool for the very reason of smart arse kids that want to try to catch a lion....the power of them is totally amazing...

I went through the same scenario in New Brunswick with the pin....after consulting with the wardens and technique they all agreed it would be ok to use the reels and even went as far as letting us put one split on our lines just up from the fly ( most fly fisherman do anyways on the Mirimichi to ensure they are getting down) and our floats were in place of the floating line...so all was well....they had never seen float reels in the area where we fished ( 1992) We were definatly not allowed to use any roe or worms so if you take the time to explain your technique im sure you will have success...we bought the locals flys which were called red butt green machines ( nymphs) and a cheap tying kit and copied their colours to egg sucking leeches ( green bodies with red eggs) and were fairly lucky with our presentation. The Mirimichi is a fly ONLY river. The atlantics are great fun !!!!! remind me of skamania up here By the time we got to Nova Scotia we had bought fly rods and mainly used them on the salmon river ( which we didnt catch salmon just beautiful brookies ) but what a beautiful area http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salmon_River_(Nova_Scotia) Good luck

Shefield will set you up in your price range of 200 ish ....being an entry level pinner you wont notice the difference between it or other more expensive brands....the key is ....learn how to use it properly ....by then youll be ready to upgrade and the reel would have served you well

all the violations you posted in your response is my case and point ...MNR ,OPP and city cops cant be everywhere all the time ( i wonder if this is why there are speed limit /stoop and scoop/no littering signs etc.. posted throughout the country as reminders) a friendly verbal reminder to a bunch of kids that are doing something wrong wouldnt have hurt anyone ....i dont see any 9mm weapons on these kids so i dont think even if a armed authority that could have showed up would have the need to unholster his/her weapon... Im a Caucasian and i own two "white pails" ( which are converted to carry my most used steel lures for downrigging) i would be more then happy to make you one to accommodate your lures if you so desired but your insinuation again i feel is shameful ( sorry for your train of thought ) i hope you didnt pass your values on to your candy purchasing kids.... you have apparent respect through out this board from people and im dillegently looking for a reason to do the same so no strips have been ripped off you by me Thank you i WILL have a nice day and i hope you do as well
-
just curious ...did he weigh and measure you when he caught ya ? the jury still out as to whether you are extremely brave or dumb for fishing with him again ...lol... congrates on the catch ....is it normal for pike derbys to allow fish entered on the same day you enter the derby?
