  1. Glad it worked out for ya Dan!
  2. Our family's cottage is on Kahshe Lake. Locals on the lake call it Crashy lake for good reason. I've been boating there for a long time. About 15 years ago I took out the outdrive on the ski boat to the tune of $3500, and I thought I knew where I was going. A few years ago during low water I destroyed a prop on the tin boat in an area I know well. Some lakes you just don't mess with, and even when you think you know em, sometimes you don't!
  3. Amazon.com, $70USD, eBay.com $75USD. Sounds like Trombly is right about on par with his pricing for a guy with a brick and mortar outfit.
  4. As the father of a 17 year old boy, and 2 younger boys as well anything I have given them they've been made well aware that I can take it back. Heck, anything they have bought on their own I've told then is mine also if they don't follow the house rules and pitch in when asked, after all they live room and board free! We've always been reasonable, but we don't take any Bull. Parenting is a benevolent dictatorship. Too many people are under the mistaken impression that they should be friends with their kids. Not the case. Friendly and kind, yes... friends, no. Tell him the phones gone the minute the help stops. We have a pretty decent and helpful crew around my place for the most part, and I don't have to cut the grass anymore!
  5. I sent you a PM.
  6. Nice ride!
  7. 8hp or 9.9 is perfect. Either one will give all the thrust you need. Honestly you could probably get by with a 6, but most 6's are one lungers and way louder than the twin cylinders. Can't help you with the lighting. Nice boat!
  8. I run an 80lb terrova with 60 inch shaft on a super deep Starcraft 18 footer that weighs 3000lb. It does the job and even using it as an auto pilot while trolling in rough water on Erie I seldom have too much of the motor out of the water that it makes it ineffective. My boat is a kite with a ton of freeboard. There are times I am sure when a 100lb thrust min Kota would be nice, but for most of the water I fish of the wind was blowing that hard I probably wouldn't be standing up front jigging because I'd be darn near tossed out of the boat. Give the the weight of the boat you mentioned, I'm pretty sure a 55lb thrust with a 54 inch shaft would do just about everything you need it to.
  9. There is a guy in Queensville just north of Newmarket. My buddy has had 2 covers and a top made there. They do good work. Not sure on price though.
  10. People buy 100k fishing boats all the time. Don't worry, there will be a market for 30k boats.
  11. Sent private message. Have fun.
  12. I have one. It's ok, but to be honest as mentioned above, I don't think they are getting anything over on a standard dipsy. I bought it to try and find it more trouble than it's worth.
  13. Your a pickerel fisherman. I invite you to try an ipilot unit. Fishing 6 rods on Erie with me and 2 kids in the boat and my terrova keeps me on the approximate heading I've chosen while I set riggers, send lead out on boards or drop dipsys etc. Sure I can do all that without it. Do it a couple times and it will change your opinion entirely. I guarantee it. I also believed that side imaging was pretty much useless for trolling. Until I spent some time on my last couple of trips using it to mark suspended schools in 50 fow, scroll back to them, drop a waypoint and then turn over top of them and catch fish. I can do all of these tasks (save marking fish off the sides) with my gas engine and a greyscale fish finder if I wanted to. But something more effective has come along so I'm going to use it. If all that says nothing of my abilities to catch fish, I'm alright by it. Because I've learned just how effective it can be.
  14. That's an offer I'll take you up on! One of my kids has me building crawfish traps in the basement for our fishing trip next week. He's determined to catch enough to boil at the dock! I told him not to hold his breath lol.
  15. I have a reel that I bought when the bass pro shop first opened in Vaughan. I'm pretty sure it's still wearing the original braid. Still use it and couldn't tell you the original colour. Every so often I remove a foot or so of braid and tie on a new Fluoro leader. I only replace if I get a bad fray or have some sort of operator related catastrophic failure.
  16. Better luck next time Brian. It is a beautiful place and worth a return visit, especially when there's not so much construction going on!
  17. When you get tired of working hard, trailer the boat across the highway and fish main basin of Nippising. South shore is a good area, if your boat is smaller but I usually work flats out in the main basin. Have a good trip!
  18. Nice tank Dan!
  19. Used to be a red one that went out of Port Credit years ago. Very cool!
  20. I know jack all about fly fishing. But I know most of the acces spots. Send me a pm and I'll hook you up with the most common access points and a couple that aren't. I'll even tell you the best greasy spoon for breakfast afterward.
  21. You don't even need to leave the keys to the big motor in the truck. Just don't run the big motor and your golden! .
  22. Looks like a good time!
  23. 2 combos. Abu silver max with 7 foot medium action ugly stick gx2's. Reels are loaded with 30lb power pro metered line (10 feet out per colour of braid). Both reels have flipping switches. I just don't use them much anymore since I got some tekota 300's. They are in excellent condition. Great combos for bottom bouncing and switching up to trolling cranks with the metered line. $80 each or $150 for the pair.
  24. For that 2 man, your going to want the smitty sled. I sometimes even put my one man on the sled if the snow is deep and the ice still a bit skinny for a machine. Build it!!
