pike slayer

i bought that frabil net with the red shaft at crappy tire. it was a bit pricey at $59.99 plus tax but omg sooo worth the money! it extends out past 5feet i believe and compacts back up nicely, the net has that spray rubber netting for getting hooks out easier and i netted a 40" pike with it on the weekend with no problems.

i found 20lb braided was alot better to learn on, when its birds nests while casting out and your lure stops dead the braid wont snap!! trust me on this, i lost a few lures putting 8lb mono on. haha just watched them keep going haha!! i had the megaforce caster and it was a pile, only lasted 3months and i sent it back to cabelas for warrenty and well dont ever go through cabelas for that its been about 8weeks now and still waiting on another reel ( exchanged it for the shimano citica) i started out with #10 x-raps with my caster, i believe i had the setting to number 4 on the left.

ya sure it'll work but hey i like smaller lighter action rods, adds that extra thrill when hooking into a big one

tighten up the shaft so if you let go out the motor is doesnt randomly go where it pleases and what really is another guy gonna do to help you? when i troll im with someone else and they dont touch my rod, i reel it in clean it and just keeper going, just takes some practice and multi tasking

i wasnt really targetting large pike when i hooked into that 40" i was after some afternoon eyes, but big pike do love spinners. In the later fall i troll big #14 x-raps in 10-20feet of water over shoals, any large crankbaits will do. i find once the temps start to drop the big pike come in closer to shore.

just buy a bigger net or buy a second net and double netter and you'll have a second net as a back up

haha he did weigh and measure me, i think he wanted to mount me to LMAO but that just aint gonna happen!! and ya on the way out i stopped at the little tackle shop on the way out and i seen on the wall a little tourny going on, its free to enter and you just bring the fish in so thats what we did, hes in first for pike and theres 5 days left so i hope he wins, he wins a new rod and reel! haha ya i started calling him that the other day haha, hes not on OFC but that name better be reserved for him! i'll tell ya where that fish came from on msn, on here all im saying is up inbehind bruce mines.

ya he kept it, i asked him if he wanted to release it or bring it home and hes like KEEP IT! dinner tonight!! it was his fish so its his choice, i gotta teach him the value of selective harvest! i filleted it for him and his family is eating to it night. we also stopped at a tackle shop in town that is doing a fish derby and we entered him in it and hes currently in first place for pike with the derby closing on the 25th, i hope he wins, he'll get a brand new rod and reel!

So today i took my buddy adam out fishing again, last time he put a hook right through my ear if you guys remember my post from 2weeks ago. i took him out again and well he caught his first fish ever and boy what a first! he caught a 13lb 40" pike! i think he has the fish itch now!! all the pics are the same fish and ya i got some with me with the fish ahaha

it was free to exchange my outdoors card billy bob, and completely freak if i had to pay for another one.

ya so i originally went to the trading post to buy a small games and the guy told me to go to the MNR building and i got there and they were closed. Today i go back down there and they redirect me to a service ontario building down town so i go there and they redirect me to another service ontario place. what a piss off!!! Like seriously just dont make "fishing" outdoors card and just make one type of card like what the hell!! makes me sooooo bad and going around getting sent other places and now i gotta wait another 3months for another freaking card!!! i bought my FISHING outdoors card jan,1 first and it came in at the end of march, grrrrrrrr i freaking hate this!!!

dont even start with those things today!!! i just did my hunting course and i went to go by a small games licence and i showed the guy my card and hes like sorry thats a fishing outdoors card. and i was like what the hell!?! who cares about the damn picture and what the hell is the point of the extra spaces on the back is you cant use them for anything?!?! the guy told me i had to go to the mnr office and get this sorted out, got there at 4:35 and they were closed grrrrrr! i better not have to pay for another card, i bought this one jan,1st and it took 3months to come in! i hate how things are run!

worms in a fish are like yellowly, brown, white rice looking things in the flesh arent they?

i believe they are some type of parasite but they are more of a skin thing and dont normall go deep into the actual meat. i cant say for sure what it is but ive been told you can eat fish like that with no problems, ive been eating them like that for years and i still feel fine!

i've noticed the same thing with the xraps. i have every colour out there and have caught lots of fish on every colour. they are all flashy and fish love to attack cause of the action. but ive found on some days they prefer only one colour and wont touch the other. i feel when the bite is on it doesnt matter as long as theres the action.

it doesnt matter which one you take first, take them both at the same time. im in sault ste. marie and a local guy does it in is garage and he had enough ppl to do the hunting course to do it at a school with a whole class. the pal costs something like $100 then another $60 when you send it in for the card, someone may correct me on the actual prices but thats the ball park. the hunting course is $160. ya its not cheap to start and good choice on the remington i just got a remington 20g.

i actually took the hunting course yesterday and today, its lonnng and boring and the test was quite easy getting 3 wrong out of 70 multiple choice questions. after you take the course you instantly get your temp and you can go hunting. the P.A.L is a bit more. you'll be very lucky if you can get it in time for deer season. it takes a good 2months to completely process and get your card. i say you take the hunting course and just go along with your buddies and get the P.A.L for next year. you should have done all this spring/summer, its coming down to the wire for me for bird hunting and i started the process in july.

i got needle nose pliers with the part on them for cutting wire and for cutting hooks if i need to but they wouldnt fit between the hook and where you tie it on to just cut the barb from my ear, i needed pliers with the cutting end at the point of the pliers.
