  2. my buddy that has done quite a bit of guiding swears by yo zuri cranks. western only carries a couple and they are all floating cranks. i'd like to find some suspending yo zuris and give them a go. definitely some good looking lures.
  3. [quote name='troutologist' date='Nov 27 2009, 12:12 PM' post='406115' I don't have to go 100mph to fish i just go where the big sleds can't hahaha!! i go places where the tundras, elans, bravos, etc. can't with my sled! they are light machines but completely gutless! even the 550f gutless! you go into a ditch or hole your done. you get yourself into slush your done. they dont have the track(the newer tundras have the 156" track but it dont have the power to turn it)or the power. i don't care what anyone says, those sleds cant go where a good mountain sled can go. they are made for the steep and deep. and snow shoes!?! thats a little to much like work haha! and ya drifter those yamis do go like a raped ape on steriods. i cant say ive ever been stuck on a lake with my sled, bush ya but not to often. slush is no problem for my 2" paddle track, stop in it and gun it doing a wheelie out i suggest go mountain sled!!
  4. oxcowboy, if you looked on ebay there is alot for cheaper but if give it a close look they are from china, they are cheap knock offs. i emailed them and they said that the down fill is different then the real ones and thats why the price is so much cheaper. no way in hell am i buying a mustang floater suit! most places where you fall through the ice are in high current areas and you'll be flowing down stream under the ice, also they are the ugliest suits going and you look like a pylon out on the ice, definitely wouldnt want to be walking around town, going to dinner, etc with one of those or hiking in the park.
  5. So i've been eyeing up the canada goose jackets for a while now. I'd really like to get one but they are quite pricey in the $400-700 range. are they really worth it? are these jackets to warm for this part of the world and only meant for the north pole? these are some pretty wild looking jackets! im worried i'll only wear it a few times a year for the really cold days when out ice fishing and sledding but if im spending that much i wanna wear it all the time. so what do you guys think? good investment or no? http://www.canada-goose.com/6c_mens.htm
  6. 2003 polaris rmk 700 the tundras are not match for this beast in the bush and cant even touch it across the lakes, if i so happen to get stuck im screwed haha! pulling behind a totem sleigh! i also have a smaller orange one with a lid, best sleighs out there being true fiberglass and fiberglass lid and metal runners to bad they are like 3x the price of a normal sleigh. sorry no pics of the actual gear!
  7. very nice set up, to bad that would make it 10feet in this part of the woods. throw some tracks on it and that will be the ulitmate mean machine
  8. yeeee forest! i watched it last night
  9. so you bought a gun that you cant shoot anywhere, whats the point in having the gun?? take it where you'd go hunting, blast some shots to figure out your patterns and be on your way! might as well make it worth your while
  10. shhhhh doc!!! dont bring up the ugly past! ya i realise what locals are doing and they are the main problem. i have alot of friends and know of lots of people that break the laws. i tell some ppl that i went out fishing for the day and i just caught and released didnt keep anything and they thought i was nuts! i feel everyone tourists, locals, natives, etc all play an equal part in abusing it and something should be done but probably wont. i posted this cause i feel the fines were so small for what they did.
  11. seems like the only fines you hear are the tourist ones, probably cause they completely rape the place and buy the cheaper license cause they already know they are gonna go over their limit anyways. I know its not only tourists that abuse it but it seems like most locals do smaller crimes like only going one over their limit or leave a night line out at their camp for a morning fish breakfast which is still wrong but you just dont hear of it cause its not large enough to reach the news plus they get away with it alot more
  12. http://www.sootoday.com/content/news/full_...oryNumber=42954 as if they only were fined $600 bucks each!! they should have got alot higher fine and some jail time for that amount of fish. they live in florida, like they would show up for a court appearance here! and thats what really grinds my gears!!
  13. nice!! the rainbow cleo is money!! thats always the first lure i toss out for salmon and steelies in the river! good work!
  14. nom nom nom! nice looking dinner!
  15. just remember road kill is fair game
  16. So i was at crappy tire today and i was walking through the ice fishing section they just put out. i saw sitting there was this suffix braided ice line. its was bright orange!! ive been needing some new ice line and just thought i'd get your guys opinion on it. i havent used much braided lines ice fishing always just mono. and the colour is very bright, like does it go clear in the water or should i be adding some flouro to the end of it? the stuff is pretty pricey for the amount you get, dont feel like forking over that much to expirment.
  17. good to know kinger! ive never tried to target them soft water fishing. you care to give me more info on targeting them in the river? if so shoot me an PM. the only lake i know with them is paquette on the ranger, you get tons but they are only 1-2lbs and ive only got them ice fishing.
  18. i only know of one lake up here in the sault that has them and was told back in the day some finlanders planted them in there. would the mnr know of other lakes with decent populations of ling?
