  1. Ewwww... Mike
  2. Those are fantastic looking spinnerbaits, I'll bet they do a lot of catching for you, Glen... Mike
  3. That's impressive, I remember you posted about that only a little while ago. Glad it worked out, there are some sponsored tournament anglers and guides here who I'm sure would be willing to help out somebody who is just starting. Mike
  4. I can barely remember the threads I've read this month, so going back to the year?? Moosebunk's reports are right up there. Great fishing in a part of Canada that I may never get a chance to see (although never say never). The post-Lakair flurry is always a treat too, I've visited the folks there but have never stayed at Lakair at the same time, so I like hearing about how it went (e.g., Peter/Biteme's pike derby winner, caught on a Jumla, right in front of the docks with everyone watching). Mike
  5. Happy bday, I saw that you were planning to attend the Christmas swill so I hope to finally meet you (and a lot of other OFNers) then... Mike
  6. But you certainly are trusting... jk Roy... Mike
  7. Thanks for the heads-up. I think LeB usually has a no tax sale on Boxing Day too... Mike
  8. Always fun to see a report from you, snag... A bit of a surprise to me to hear that there are still active pike around the Islands. Mike
  9. It's looking pretty iffy for you guys based on the long range forecasts. It's been really mild this year! Mike
  10. Nice pics, must be tough for those dial-up guys though! Mike
  11. I am okay with keeping a fish now and then, but don't do if often. I would feel worse about deep-hooking or injuring a big fish... Mike
  12. I think it's easy to assume the work involved in running this board isn't too bad b/c everything usually so smoothly, but it's obvious from the posts here that a lot goes on "behind the scene" that most of us never hear about. I really appreciate what OFC is about and I especially appreciate the work the mods & admin guys have put into it. Three cheers for all of you. Mike p.s. But you put Roy in charge of the Old Milwaukee AND the money??? Geez...
  13. That was the board run through Zoology at UofT, right? That's the first board I "joined" when I started fishing in 1999, heard about OFC afterwards and then moved over. That board went downhill shortly after if I remember correctly... Mike
  14. Hi Roger, No matter what you do I think you will have a good time. Being able to go bassin' in the middle of the winter is a treat. I'll be in Florida in Feb with my wife, around the Orlando area. I won't be hiring a guide but I've done so twice before, both times on inshore saltwater trips. Happy both times, I found the guides through this site. There are a few listed that guide Kissimmee or nearby. Cyberangler Guides I'm sure Jamie (crazyhook) will jump in too, he's fished Florida a lot. Mike
  15. Another prodigal son has returned (see other thread by Mahumba)... Welcome back Mike
  16. Hi Roy, You were in the GTA and didn't try to organize a mini-swill? I've spent a few bucks at the BPS, but haven't met Roger yet. Mike
  17. My in-laws cottage runabout must be 30 or more years old, leaks a little but is still going strong. The motor is even more impressive, it must date to the 70s, doesn't always start on the first pull but it works... Mike
  18. Bill, I think you're right, Smitter moved up there this year and posted a report not so long ago. I guess we'll be seeing more Soo reports in 2007... Mike
  19. I don't mind not having ice & snow but global warming scares me. Weather is too complex and big for anybody to understand what the impacts will be. Mike
  20. Happy holidays to everyone here, hope you have a good time with family... Mike
  21. Hey, welcome back! One of the things you can do to speed things up with dial-up is to set your browser not to download pictures. You'll see a red X for all the photos (avatars, post pics, etc.). If there's one you want to see, just "right click" it using your mouse and it will download just that one photo. Mike
  22. Glad to hear the positive update, hope you and your family have a great holiday... Mike
  23. There's a new thread from superdad with a report including Steve... They had an awesome day on Quinte. Mike
  24. Nothing as exotic as some of the others, I've snagged old line or branches with lures still attached, some of them still in decent shape (crankbaits, spinners, and I think one spoon). Mike
  25. Great painting, really nice scene and well-executed. I'm really impressed with Pam's talent, having seen some of her other painting posts here... Mike
