  1. Had a chance to get out and decided to drag some tubes. Lots of bass. All in that 12 - 14" range. Everything was hitting tubes today. It was a great morning. My Canada Day supper? Fish head soup
  2. Sure beats sitting at home.. Nice smallie.
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvhIJKQyP4o...feature=related It may only be a rag on a pole, but it's mine to wave proudly.
  4. You could hook up with any one of over 100 real characters on this site, Mike D. They would treat you good and have a real hoot with you. Regardless of our wannabee fantasies, we're mostly your average guy/gal who has this silly obsession for chasing slimy critters.
  5. There have been numerous articles on this subject the past few years. Much depends on the composition of the specific plastic. Some do not break down. Some do not digest and can be harmful. Rates of decay have varied from a few years to a hundred. Results may depend upon who funded the research (like that has never been a factor before ). Some plastics actually absorb water and double in size. Etc........
  6. With some species, water condition affects flavour. There is a big difference between cold water and warm water cats. I won't eat Niagara cats once the waters warm. Muddy taste from warm muddy waters. Warm water bass are not the same in taste as those up North, but not as pronounced.
  7. Welcome. And what's the address of that cottage again Lots of helpful info and unusual characters here. Don't worry about the Dawg. He just barks a lot ( I think the Mrs pulled his fangs ages back )
  8. I have an 04 Freestar, towing a 16 1/2 Legend. The vehicle has the towing package and runs just fine until I start loading gear in the boat, then the van gets arse heavy.
  9. It's always a great area to fish. Congrats on a good day out.
  10. Blue Beacon Marina used to have pontoon rentals at the Simcoe narrows. Port of Orillia has a couple of accessible platforms. In the Niagara area, try Port Dalhousie piers. The Rec canal in Welland has a few fishing platforms. One of which is right downtown at Merritt Island.
  11. There are some really big beasties in that part of the arm. I've lost a number of battles out there over the years. That is one nice muskie. Glad you all had a great time.
  12. Bly did it again didn't she?

  14. Great report. Thanks for sharing.
  15. I've caught a couple of bass where there entire upper lip has been torn off. On the one, it looked similar with the flesh all healed up around the mouth.
  16. You sure can. Both above and below the Dunnville dam.
  17. Day 2 of bass season, and my daughter decided to join me for some fresh air,a little exercise, and a lot of fun. Anna started us off with a few pannies. The smallmouth were hungry. A fun time despite the rain.

    Bass

Looks like you boys did alright.
  19. Put simply, there are a few thousand registered members and 100 odd regular contributors. Being the weekend, the regulars are out fishing. I'll be out there shortly. Never fished Rondeau, so I can't help in that area. Can't be too much different from Long Point bay. Well sheltered, fairly shallow, with a soft flat bottom. Wide range of pannies, bass, pike, coarse fish. If you want walleye you have to leave the bay.
  20. You certainly didn't offend this immigrant son Beansy.
  21. To me it's just a part of the variety that keeps things different and interesting. Just like every other species I target. Different time, species and tactics. The lighter the tackle the better. Oh, and 1lb. bass are a perfect side to a big plate of bacon, eggs and homefries for brekkie Bass opener also marked the real beginning of summer when I was a kid.
  22. The only party boats I know of on Erie run out of Presquile Pt. in Pennsylvania.
  23. Looks like you 2 did O.K. up there. Had a couple more after you left.
