Oh man I laughed when you mentioned the 5 foot tall weeds. I did the marathon march through some of that crap this morning too... LOL Completely soaked from the dew by the time I got to my spot. No one else on the bank when I got there made it worth while. I went 3/3 though

Boring? Whats more exilerating than running and gunning all over the lake when its -20? LOL

I owe it to the watershed to show up. I have enjoyed way too many hours on the notty and surrounding rivers to not give back a little. The line has to be drawn somewhere. Next sunday is marked on my calender.

Pier fishing for rainbows should be getting good right now, and it should be good right up until december when the water cools significantly and the fish become less active. Although I know you can catch them all winter, best bet for that is roe still fished though. Best days to cast from shore at this time of year are often the days you don't wanna be out there, a strong onshore wind almost always means action up here on Gbay. There is no tips or tricks better than plain old practice and experience. Just get down there as much as you can even if you're the only one there.

Spawning Salmon - Identifying Redds
12footspringbok replied to fish_finder's topic in General Discussion
Good post. But, unfortunatly the people that understand this aren't the ones fishing in ankle deep tribs in the first place. Then there are the people that know exactly what they're doing and will do it anyways because they just HAVE to get some loose roe. I've seen it too many times and I see the SOME of the exact same guys fishing down stream with their 800 dollar rods and 300 dollar pair of chest waders later in the season.... -
Theres no doubt that there has been interspecies relations going on in the great lakes between salmonoids. I've caught a couple over the years that didn't 100% meet the criteria of of species or another. Last fall my friend caught what I'm almost positive was a pinook on southern Gbay.

Probably a little late for you but heres how I do mine: http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=36222&st=0&p=384592&hl=skein&fromsearch=1entry384592 I don't "cure" 90% of my eggs, but everyone has their preferences. Spent 2 hours yesterday and 1 hour on saturday scraping and prepping eggs. Sometime I wonder why I bother.

For sure Bernie. Just anothing "trick" to add to the toolbox though. In hindsight the best thing would be to take the rotors off before they're siezed on and put a little dab of anti-sieze between the rotor/hub.

Put the torches away billy bob.... Saw this method a few years back and have kept it in the back of my mind if I ever have another bad brake job experience.

Is whining about it on the internet going to get anything done about it? Musky or Specks hit the nail on the head. Do you have the money and time to piss away to fight this kind of thing? I know I sure don't. So for now I fish where I don't have to pay. What will I do when I have to pay extra to fish just about everywhere? Take up hunting.... for politicians...

Brian I fished the south side of 90 religously every day when they wanted and did start up with the whole pass Bull. The first 2 years I bought the pass when it was 20 bucks with no derby ticket. Then they bumped it to 40 bucks wit the manditory derby ticket even if you didn't want to fish it. I said screw em...Also had my first set of wheels by then so I started hitting quiter spots...LOL Alot of locals were really pissed at the time, and there was originally alot of rumblings about the legalities etc... Nothing ever came of it. Like it or love it. I was pissed at the time when they implemented it becasue I was 16 and had to by the pass but didn't even need to buy a license yet! There were some local regulars down there that thought it would be a good idea originally that don't even fish there anymore and have changed their opinion on the pass. There are lots of other good spots in the area that are still free in the meantime.

A topic we've been over time and time again Brian.... Terry has it figured out.

Sweet video of a great event thats doable for the smaller less serious angler. That shot of the boat lights in the early morning doesn't do it justice. One has to pay attention to which direction they're trolling out there...LOL Edited to add: Good to see alot more healthy fish out there this year with lots of high teen salmon being weighed in

I don't think posting when and where the salmon runs are happening on the interwebs is a good idea.... However, I don't think its cool how every one of these threads turns into a joke. We all know that the salmon run brings out some idiots, and I should hope most people are well aware of that by now. However there are some who do enjoy tangling with fresh run salmon in a legit fashion come the fall. Anyway my 2cents....

one step closer to a treatment for ALS

I hate to always be a cynical anti gubmint type but yes the goverment is screwing us even when it comes to healthcare. I agree with both fish4eyes and lews previous posts. I have had my own health problems over the past couple of years and doing my own research sure has opened my eyes to the government corruption when it comes to healthcare. There are good alternative cures to many diseases out there but as soon as one pops up the goverment/big pharma moves fast to squash these things. Big Pharma gives grants to the colleges and universities so guess what docs going through medical schools learn about... Sure you can figure it out. Anyways if any of you care to look a little deeper at the corruption here is the link to a VERY VERY good movie that shows just how far they are willing to go to keep us sick so they can push their worthless crap upon us. http://www.youtube.c...feature=related -
I was up in northern quebec a couple weeks ago. Picked up a 7 day permit at Canadian tire for about 35 bucks i think it was.

Couple a nice fish there for sure! I find myself taking alot less fishing photos as well. Its ashame because i really like being able to look back at old photos and being able to show friends and family, and we all know pics or it didn't happen...LOL

Thats one angle but i feel there are many more. One of the most frightening being UN's agenda 21 and returning certain parts of North America back to the wild and creating areas that are off limits to humans, but I won't go any further on that topic here on OFC.

A day on the water with Gramps for his 80th !!!

Good stuff. Supposed to do something similar with my grandpa in the next few days. He hasn't been fishing in years! I'll have to remember the camera for sure. -
The sauna is great other than work. I'll take dipping my hat in the lake to cool off over chipping the ice out of my rod guides anyday.

Straight out from wasaga is about is flat as it gets. Me and a buddy have rigged G-bay 3 times this summer and can't seem to buy a fish, although there are scattered reports from some of the more "seasoned" G-bay trollers getting a salmon or bow here and there mixed in with a few lakers. Weather permitting we are going to try straight off wasaga sunday morning, as its the only place we have had no skunkings the past few summers. As for tackle I'd agree with misfish's suggestion if it was may or june, but this time a year a silver fox in blues and greens with a long lead close to bottom is usually our go to setup. Good luck, you'll need it out there...LOL

One thing is for sure, we need some friggin rain! The Notty looks like a small creek ever since they started watering the potatoe fields last week.
-
Yes, weather modification was the conclusion I came to, seeing as to the UN outright admits it.... Then you can take a turn down the other path and it just gets down right disturbing. Just ask Mr. Carnicom..... www.carnicom.com .....
