I guess sometimes it just feels right to stomp your feet up and down, scream, and call people names like a child eh doc?
-
Come on Doc instead of resorting to 8th grade name calling tactics could we maybe try and keep this civil? Like maybe posting some info on why Tim is a "nut" insead of just outright name calling. Your better than that honestly....

Good on ya for not showing to the White House. Thomas statement on White House absence (via the NHL) "I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People. This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government. Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL. This is the only public statement I will be making on this topic. TT"

Really you must be psychic... Or maybe I am... I'm almost positive some of those fish turning their noses were lakers...

Why on earth would you want to ruin the sweet taste of brook trout with that? Leechman I'll trade you some perch fillets for some of those brook trout bodies if you want fillets that bad...LOL

Great post Limey I was going to post the exact same video. I find it sad though when people can't debate facts so they resort to ridiculing the presenter. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident. -Arthur Schopenhauer

The elite are running scared... Too much truth floating around the interwebs for their liking.

What's The Latest On The Mega Quarry? NF
12footspringbok replied to bushart's topic in General Discussion
I'd have to do more research, but a quick google search and 15 minutes of reading and I already see you are half right anyway.. http://canadians.org/water/documents/Letter-Barlow-Melancthon-0411.pdf There is another issue that should be raised. Because the construction company is backed by the Baupost Group, a Boston‐based multi‐billion dollar hedge fund, it likely has NAFTA rights to sue the Canadian government if at any time after the contract has been signed, any level of government changes its mind on the project or attempts to limit damage to the land and water of the area by imposing new restrictions on the company’s operations. As well, NAFTA’s Chapter 11 gives American corporations operating in Canada the right to claim the water sources they use in their operations. The Canadian government recently awarded the American pulp and paper company Abitibi Bowater $125 million in compensation for the water it no longer uses after it voluntarily abandoned its operation in Newfoundland. This payment has set a dangerous precedent that could be repeated in the case of this quarry if, at any time in the future, the company pulls out or if the local or provincial government tries to reclaim some of the water sources first allotted to it. Even if we were to find that the water sources in the area were being drawn down too quickly or polluted, the company would have NAFTA investor‐state rights not accorded to Canadian companies. -

HAH! Everyday a few more pieces of that sovereignty are chiseled off the stone... -
I was out yesterday with a friend. Think we were the farthest north in about 30 fow. A good 4 inches of ice and lots of perch. The ice was awful noisy until about 11am. That one wave that came through at about 10:30am and shifted the ice about 2-3 feet was a little nerve racking LOL... Good to be back on simcoe.

Just what exactly is it that you know today that makes gold a good investment? -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9fzO_YhOYNQ Gold and silver aren't backed by anything...
-
Who exactly is doing that speculation? Why are they speculating that its going to go that high? Why does the value always go up? It went up in the early '80s and went back down...
-
Why would you want to own gold and silver?

The last couple years I always fished one rod with a williams ice jig and one with a white tube deadsticked up off bottom. This year I'll still be fishing one rod always with the williams ice jig. I'll have three others rigged with tubes and different colours/styles of swimbaits to try up off bottom. I don't really bother with minnows anymore for lakers unless I'm on some smaller lakes further north.
-
I remember a day towards the end of the season last year where someone had a hard time keeping those whities hooked up.... Soon enough we will be on Simcoe. Till then I'll have to keep going a little further north.
-
I didn't want to be that blunt...LOL Your dead right though.

I was in the Minden "area" on some very small lakes this morning. 3-4 inches of blue ice where I drilled today, lots of slush patches and any of the medium to large sizes lakes were either open or looked sketchy at best. I didn't go very far and had my picks around my neck ready. We need a few -20 in a row nights before things start to look "safe". Good luck on your tour.

I can only hope your kidding. I'm on the notty probably 30-40 different days a year. Never once been checked there. The only time I ever see CO's is on simcoe in the winter or up north in the spring. I like to keep the odd fish in the fall, and I know lots of other people that do as well. So I'm not a big fan of making more of the Notty C&R. I'd like the idea of maybe a slot size a bit better. Maybe protect the prime spawners say 24-32 inches. I don't think its fair that the honest guy keeps getting more restrictions imposed. The poachers are going to keep taking fish either way, and I don't see the commercials on the bay releasing incidental by-catches either. I hate to even get on that topic here on OFC but that a big problem as well.
-
Way to generalize.... Its always the meat hunting locals fault... Who exactly is going to enforce a tag system? The Co's that are already spread so thin they can't even properly enforce the C&R section or the 2 fish possesion limit? In all the hours I've spent on that river over the past 13-14 years the closest I have come to seeing a CO is the card that was left on my windshield 2 years ago. You'd be surprised Bill. I seen alot of prime spawning hens released by the most unlikely candidates this fall in the lower sections. I think catch and release really is starting to catch on for some anyways....

Anybody else loving the weather?
12footspringbok replied to mike rousseau's topic in General Discussion
This weather is terrible. Bring on the -20 and snowsqualls. -
I think the bottom line here is some kind of sonar/flasher is better than none. Converting what you see on your screen to fish on the ice is the important part!!!

Didn't think so... Guess I'll have to wake up at 2am for the drive down south then..
