I'd rather catch fish, instead of trying to fill the freezer or show my neighbors how much of a man I am because I caught this stringer of fish, so I would support a move in that direction introduced stuff (salmon, bows) or put and take stocking systems, I don't care there's way too much fishing pressure in most of Ontario, the fishing gets better around Thunder Bay and west from there (more lakes and less fishing pressure)

a few months ago, my brother picked up old pike and walleye skin mounts from a 2nd hand store for cheap because the store knew they wouldn't be able to sell that kind of stuff with the new legislation I still think the CO's time would be better spent patrolling the rivers and lakes rather than Kijiji.

nice picture I had a spider build a web over the entrance to my composter, lots of fly traffic there, how smart is that?

you have to spend some time at the bottom to get to the top the Oilers are doing it now, previously the Black Hawks (Kane and Toews), previously the Pens (Sid and Malkin) the way the Leaf GM's have done things, trading draft picks for previous stars, the Leafs just hover around in mediocrity (at best)

x3 he didn't go well on the solid Vancouver team, he would do alot worse with 40 plus shots a night, 15 of those shots being high quality chances, in Toronto I'm a Leaf fan, but they have to stop going after guys like that, we've seen it too many times before, The Oilers are doing it right, draft and rebuild with young talent if we get Luongo, it will set us back huge, I hope this is just a bad rumour

curious thoughts on this fishes weight..
chris.brock replied to Toad Hunter's topic in General Discussion
I wouldn't consider myself an expert skier, but I'd guess it wasn't quite 58", if your buddy is average height, I would say the fish weighs about 30 lbs -

The Land Of Giant Walleye ~ Anjigaming Lake Fly In
chris.brock replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
I know Tom's Outposts out of Nakina (now 7 Lakes) did sled-in ice fishing for their Ara Lake outpost, I'm not sure if the new owners are still doing this, I always thought this would be a great trip in early March -
Razor blade cartridges were engineered to be a cash cow for the manufacturers and I like that something this simple cuts into their greed. I totally agree I bought the 5 blade fusion when it first came out, they lasted a looooooong time (without any trick techniques), then I bought a new pack of fusions, and it was like night and day, they wore out quick, I'm guessing Gillette wasn't selling enough so they changed something to make them wear out alot quicker and hopefully sell more garbage!

I've experienced this a few times before, when it's been hot, dry, stable summer weather for days, and there's a front approaching, when you're on the water, you can feel the wind pick-up and change direction, you can almost feel the storm approaching and the pressure moving, the fish can go crazy and can be super active, it's very cool to experience and can be awesome fishing I remember one specific time while fishing in Port Severn, the fish went bananas before the storm came through

The Land Of Giant Walleye ~ Anjigaming Lake Fly In

awesome report, I think you've got time for one or two more fly-ins before the ice comes in! -
Has anyone made a small wood stove for their ice hut?
chris.brock replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
yeah, I hear ya, but there's just something about a fire, the smell, the sight of the smoke coming out of the chimney on a cold January morning I already have a catalytic propane heater, but I think I would enjoy the homemade wood stove -
I was thinking I would try and convert an old propane cylinder or something similar, into a little air tight for the ice hut. I'm wondering if anyone has done this before and has any tips/ ideas. There's a small stove for sale at Home Hardware ($89), but I'd like to keep the project as least expensive as possible. Also, I don't have access to a welder.

Cllimate Change Study Says Fish Will Get Smaller
chris.brock replied to craigdritchie's topic in General Discussion
I read that today, my first reaction was that sounds like bad science, he's making alot of assumptions off the cuff -
cool video, it did look pretty dangerous for the officer, it also looked as if the moose understood what was happening too

the whole tranny was likely built and assembled in Mexico (no union), the U joint was likely a foreign part too, engineering, poor tolerances and cheap metals or lazy, fat, auto workers ????? my buddy (auto worker) let me in to the Ford plant, I tried working on the line, there's a job a 45 year old female does, I'd welcome anyone to try for 10 hours steady and then complain about lazy autoworkers

yeah, ok, I'll take your word for it our best tank was 950 km, maybe my bro's TDI just a bit of a lemon I did love the growl sound of my Rabbit diesel on a cold winter morning, 52 hp but it could pull 2 snowmobiles on a trailer up a Haliburton hill no problem here's another fact you might think about, Canada buys $130 of German stuff (mainly VW's, BMW's and Mercedes) for every $1 Germans buy from Canada (lobsters and maple syrup?) you've had good luck with VW, good for you, I love my Yamaha (foreign) sleds, ATVs and outboards I'd still buy a Korean car before a VW, just MHO
