this doesn't have any relevance to the debate, but some readers might find it interesting when I was young, we skated on thin ice quite a bit, the cool thing is that the ice gives you plenty of warning, first some cracking, then more cracking, then the toe of your blade goes through a couple times,etc it's not like you're going in on a break-away and suddenly disappear with a splash anyways, this was interesting, after-work read, everybody seems pretty fiesty

with the boat and camping, I'd look at Ramsay Lk (near Biscotasing), good walleye, some pike other lakes to check out- Biscotasing, Horwood, the north end of Onaping, Windermere, Big Missinaibi I'm assuming you load up the boat, and head down the lake to find a camping spot for the ATV back lake stuff, you could set up base camp at Wakami PP near Chapleau and do exploration and day trips from there, lots of walleye/ pike lakes around Tayzak may chime in with some help about the area around Folyet

I took a decent ride on my bro-inlaws kid's Grizzly 125, I came away with the impression that "wow, this little thing is all you really need", great in the tight bush trails, light weight to lift when necessary, simple to maintain and fix if necessary if the snow is deep or there's slush on the ice, you're buggered, if not, sure it would tow a small hut what make/ model are you looking at?

this could be the first hard water report of the season for OFC? 1.15 kms as the crow flies, from my truck to the lake, I can't fly so I'm guessing I hiked double that distance, around bogs, hills and thick bush, I broke a sweat hiking, not good on a cold, windy day, I was happy to find 4 to 6 inches of good ice, here's a Trout Junkie tip up waiting for a bite It was quiet for the first hour, then the bite turned on, 4 to 8 feet of water was where the action was I tried to use the timer on my camera to photo some of the bigger specimens there was some good battles bringing in these feisty brookies on a hand line A nice afternoon, worth the effort

Anybody in cottage country, are the smaller, shallower lakes getting there? I'm guessing there's a chance I could be ice fishing this weekend on the smaller, stocked lakes. If there's no snow in the bush, that makes for easy bushwacking too. thanks
