Great to hear the floatation foam worked! I wondered how you swamped it. Mines only around 72” at the gunnels. 61” beam. But it has the big splash well. I’ve got a 50 hp evinrude triple right now but a 70hp on the stand for this winters rebuild plans.

Hey guys (and gals), not fishing related per se, but I’m trying to find a cottage rental for a small reunion and a last trip north for my MIL. she’s 85 and had a tough go with the covid lockdown. We’d like to take her up for a few days to a week to a cottage that at least has a water view. Easy water access even better so she can sit near the water. It would be nice for my wife and I or the BIL to get out fishing too, but the prime concern is to get her away one last time. 3-4 hours max from Fergus area would be ideal. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Awesome, looks like a great build. How were your rivets? I’m up to my eyeballs in my 16.5” Starcraft SS. It’s a 1975. Similar hull and construction to yours except I have a more vertical freeboard than yours. Yours looks like it would feel much more open. Did you put any floatation in it?

I’ve caught in the Eramosa river upstream from Rockwood. Maybe the GRCA should consider building another bottom discharge reservoir upstream of Belwood or Grand Valley and/or encourage farmers to naturalize their creek/river banks.

Light weight battery for my float boat trolling motor ?
Hack_Fisherman replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
True. Only you know where that threshold it. I assume your lugging them around or is weight reduction critical for your rig? -

Lithium. Half the weight, quadruple the price -
Aye!! Trippers EVERYWHERE.

You might want to see if the GRCA closed access due to covid. There’s lots of popular places from the first bridge down from the Shan’s dam all the way through Fergus (upriver and downriver) down to Elora. Then downriver of Elora are another handful of access points (Wilson’s flats) in the inverhaugh area. Most access points have parking and signage regarding regs)

I thought there was no fee also, but finance Ontario sent me a letter regarding a boat purchase I made after registering the hull. They wanted to know how much I paid for it. I sent it back saying I attached the bill of sale at time of registering and to send me the bill. 2 years later, nothing...

Smitty has a good point. I’m sure nobody uses anything with cork floats in them anymore, but an old trick was to coat them in model aircraft dope to keep them floating. my useless trivia for the day
-
That makes more sense. I thought the carb was freshly rebuilt for some reason not just cleaned.
-
No rebuild kits anywhere? what model and year is it?
-
what I find odd, is why the spring? A spring means “setting”. No need if drain only. What’s the inside of the bowl look like? Besides the float and needle? spealing of, could your float need adjusting? Could your float cause the carb to be flooding at idle/trolling speeds?
-
Yeah, that’s a weird one. Is there a drain hole in that appendage? Looks like there might be. It’s the spring that’s throwing me. It does look like a jet, but why there? what motor is this for?

Could I ask for a photoshop favor please.

Especially if that’s an aluminum body with the new 5.0HO. I rented one and treated it like such...wow, balls deluxe. are you concerned with rough roads/potholes? Great looking rims, but I’d fear breakage with moderate exposure to the rough stuff. I could be wrong. -
Outstanding congrats on such a nice windfall

And now I feel like a bit of a crap. I just dropped off the box and away it goes. Same lady was absolutely golden. Must’ve just been an off day. I guess we all have them. And perhaps I was having one too.. I think it’s all too easy to forget that everybody else is struggling with covid and work stresses also.

I get that there are limitations to what individual people can do, but if they list a service with a max weight, max size limit and you are within it, it should be no burden on us. Granted, they are busy due to high level of parcels... and my package is exactly the max size and 3lbs away from max weight. I am cutting it close. I just needed to vent. This covid thing is tiring

Anyone run into Bull trying to ship parcels with CP??? I did a rate check online. Box was too big, so I kept downsizing until I found a box size that would work. Ok good. got a rate with insurance. I walked in to a postal outlet to verify. “They need to weight it, but the online calculator is usually pretty good, and yes it can be insured. “Usually” has me concerned, but onward we go.... So I builds me a crate to that exact size and the parts barely fit. it was a 3hour build with the scavenging around my shop and careful packing (glass boat windshield) and I finally get it done. I spray paint up/arrows and “fragile glass” on it. Here’s where it goes bad. I drag it in to my local, small town full service post office and 2 wide eyed women meet me. instantly, I get “that box is way to big, we can’t take it” I insisted I checked rates and it’s within size and under weight. She measures it in metric, punches it in the system and , NO, too big. I said now try it in imperial, I built the crate EXACTLY to size. “I can’t do that, only metric” But your online system accepts metric AND imperial dims and weights. “I have no way to convert it” I ask that she goes online and use the same calculator I did, on CP’s site. “We have no internet here” I showed her in my phone and she doesn’t care or want to see it. finally she relents and adjusts the cms a little smaller and oh look, there’s the price I got online. So time to weigh in. On her tiny counter holding 2 scales with barely enough room, let alone enough room to spread them apart to the point of measuring the box on just one but we finally get it weighed. so I say let’s do it and add insurance. “I can’t insure it because it’s glass” ok, but the other postal outlet said I could insure BOTH loss and damage?? I’m not winning, so I say fine...insure it for loss only. “I can’t insure it AT ALL, because it’s glass” I ask what glass has to do with losing the package? ”nobody will lose a box this size” I say you never know, you sub contract all the time. Again, ”nobody will lose a box this size” I’m not shipping without insurance, if it gets lost, I or the buyer is out of $400 “Fine, you can insure it but it won’t do any good, you’ll only get reimbursed shipping” I ask what the point is of putting $400 coverage on it if only covers shipping? Loss is loss of product, not loss of shipping? ”you can pay for it, but it won’t do you any good” Wow, they were doing all they could to avoid taking my box. Maybe it’s because they couldn’t lift it, or I was interrupting her texting..,I don’t know. I was so pi**ed off. I got the info beforehand online and in person. The buyer wired me the cash and all of a sudden I was mired in this crap. What a fiasco. Not impressed. Somehow not at all surprised though.

What’s with the tail on that thing?

My sincere condolences to you, friends and family. It must be especially difficult for you with the current rules.

Suggestions on standalone navigation devices
Hack_Fisherman replied to Hack_Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
Yup, thanks. I mean it works, and I love it, i really want both sonar or imaging AND nav or the chart full size. a) because it is so much easier to read, and b) I find I scroll through screen selections quite a bit. I haven’t been able to figure out favourite presets on it. I think that’s Solex features? maybe another 7 is the ticket. I can set each as wanted, and I could also grab and move one to the front as needed? I’d have to buy an extra power cord and ducer. That just hit me. -

OK that’s interesting. I always assumed that cargo planes Was what moved packages. But that makes a lot of sense. (Maximize empty space)
