  1. Thanks I’ll look into that.
  2. Maybe I could buy another Helix 7 w/o SI I’ve seen them around $550
  3. Thanks I’m looking into that. I think I’d be more like $1500 out of pocket if I wanted SI DI Nav?
  4. Hey guys, I’m considering buying another device to add to my helix 7 DI SI. I love the helix, but I find it small in split screen modes (sonar + nav) I was debating getting a gps enabled android 7-10” tablet in a contractor case and dash mount for Navionics alone but I hear the sun can overheat them. I don’t need another all purpose device and I’d prefer not to break the bank if possible. I’d like to stay under $500 if possible any ideas?
  5. Thanks. I wondered that. Have you been around the Phillip Edward Island route? I’m assuming the west side of the island to be similar to the foxes. Wondering if the east side is more accessible...or am I looking at steep rocks along here also? Hard to tell by satellite
  6. Thanks, but wrong fox island. My bad maybe, I think they refer to “the foxes” as the group of islands due east of the town of Killarney. BUT, I’m glad you pointed out the Fox island in the French river delta. Looks great too! Thanks for the tips, i definitely want to check it out. And the Bustard islands too. Looks like Key Harbour is the best for this access also
  7. Sorry, I forgot to answer about the boat. it’s a 16 ft Starcraft deep vee. (Early aluminum bow rider) definitely would carry a couple of spare props. And kicker for good measure.
  8. Yeah, if I could buy new it would be a zuki or yammy but that merc looked great. I snoozed and losed. I always forget to check the classifieds
  9. Darn why am I just finding this now....nice motor
  10. My MIL is 85 and she feels like she’s in jail in her own home. She said she doesn’t want her final years to be like this and that the immunizations should be given to young people, especially transit commuters because those are the people she feels are most likely to spread it.
  11. That’s neat. We had a young rabbit building a den in the garden next to our patio. She must have chosen a different spot though because she never used it. We were hoping to observe her litter grow like you were lucky to. I didn’t realize that the often nest right under our noses.
  12. Yes of course, Fox islands are a cluster of wind blown islands south of of the western tip of Phillip Edward Island in G Bay. All located east of the town of Killarney. it’s a really popular with photographers and kayak trippers
  13. Cabin/Lockdown fever to the max. All I’m dreaming about is getting up north. For anything. Camping, scouting, fishing. Anything outdoors. Wondering about Franklin Island. I understand it’s a popular place might be hard to find spaces prime season, but what about September anybody been? I know this is going to be a different year. Also wondering about Temagami or Phillip Edward Island near Killarney. I know these areas are very popular with canoe/kayak trippers. But any of you guys do any boat-in camping in these areas? (Wondering about the shorelines on these waters and whether there’s areas to beach and camp or moor without getting your boat beat to hell on the rocks and waves. Anyone been to the fox islands with a powerboat? That water looks extremely treacherous for power boats, but I’d really like to visit even as a day trip.
  14. This exactly. Solo fishing, cold water or injured or tired from swimming back to the boat. Last thing you wanna do is to try fishing around with your arm looking for the ladder you’ve got stashed folded beside side the seat, or worse. You never know
  15. That’s exactly the same as the one I picked up for my StarCraft. I haven’t installed it yet, on the bucket list for this year. Letus know how you like it
  16. I had a 30 yo beaumark (the bay brand) that was still working when I got rid of it. How many people have those old round fridges at their cottages and hunt camps that still work half a century later
  17. Tough to find anything you think you can trust these days. Gone are the 25 year lifespans on ANY appliance. Electronics used to last 10-20 years. Pretty bad that we don’t even have a choice to pay more for quality. It’s all engineered to fail it seems
  18. So many companies find justifications to be essential because of some little facet of what they do supports some other essential business. loopholes.
  19. Shouldn’t be ANY planes coming in except cargo. Business travellers should work/meet online
  20. Threaten to cut them off. They’ll drop the price. You might have to do this yearly
  21. And 911 services dot know where you are when you call unless you tell them. VoIP and fibre lines are no good if there’s a power outage or data loss?
  22. Particularly concerning. This was a massive sustained outage. To those needing the service for business, or worse, emergencies, this could have been a bad situation or worse. I wonder if any fatalities could be attributed to people who couldn’t reach 1st responders? And an eye opener for all of us. How many even have a physical landline anymore? We’ve become almost completely reliant on cell systems & data. A major attack/hack on these systems by bad actors/western enemies could really hurt us. I’m actually considering re-instating my land line. EDIT, maybe not....who am I going to call?? Maybe I could order a pizza
  23. I know...I’m a bum. I only have old stuff. I just upgraded to a 1995. I hope to have the scratch to go a 4 stroke in another year or 2. Or an Etec. Something that runs cleaner and less fuel. I have to wait until a) I get a better job b) this current market madness settled c) the models start resembling my old one or my airbrush skills get better...I’ll tell the wife that my “winter rebuild” made it sound different and made it smoke less (Kidding, she’s been asking why I don’t buy a new one. Yeah, I know...I’m too Scottish and don’t want payments. I don’t know where my job is heading.)
  24. That’s really got to suck. The excitement of buying a new trailer and can’t go anywhere. akin to buying a new boat and someone drains the lake
