  1. My apologies if somehow my last post undermined the work of civil rights greats that was not my intentions. I was poking at the political correct Twitter mob who I picture as white millennial hipster types on a keyboard that are more offended by these topics then minorities themselves. In this case and others they have used the "R" word as a first punch in the debate, it may be perverse but I think Cherry was making a observation of the lack of poppies being worn by "those people". Is making an observation "r" if it's true? We don't know because the debate is whether Cherry is "r" even though he never singled out any particular demographic. Is it "r" that we automatically painted a picture in our minds of the people he was referring to without knowing exactly whom he was referring too? Did are minds go there because we have also made the same observation? Two candidates in the last election were called out as being"r" for wanting immigration reform, once again that label was used before it was even debated or hearing the pros and cons on their immigration policies yet the leftist champion can get a free pass on blackface. I was only speaking to the hypocrisy of the pc crowd, I'm not alone even Barack Obama has been calling for a more toned down debate.
  2. Guilty I am, sorry fellas I got off track with the charter talk. I'm was never a huge cherry fan but firing a colour commentator for colour in the comments speaks to the sick political climate these days. The pc crowd is going to far and screeming racist to end a debate is destructive and cowardly.
  3. He didn't have to challenge it the government settled, which is what I suggested cherry to do with sportsnet not the government. As far as the wrongs committed against Khadr I'm sure some of the veterans that fought for this country (not against) Cherry was defending went through far worse without a 10 million dollar payday. I wonder if Omar bought a poppy?
  4. I understand the freedom of expression portion of the charter doesn't protect his job but in court one could make the argument that his section 7 charter right of life was ignored by his dismissal for his comments. Long stretch I know but it may lead to a substantial settlement ...... worked for Omar Khadr.
  5. I would check out rays fish camp on Ramsey lake near Sudbury, I see he has daily rates plus I've heard good things about Ramsey. My experience in your range is very limited, I hope Chris Brock or Adam Dempsey chimes in they would definitely be a huge help. Check out Adams directory https://fishingoutposts.com or post the same question on Mike Borger' s site canadafishingguide.net
  6. I would look around the gowganda or blind river area if rainbows are on the want list, some stocked lakes around gowganda and stocked bows in the river close to laurentian lodge which also has small mouth pike and Lakers in the lake. If you take rainbow off the list it will open up more options for sure. 8 hours can put you as far west as the Sault or as north as Cochrane with lots of great spots in that catchment area.
  7. I'm not surprised by his firing we all knew who he was singling out with his comments and how the pc Twitter warriors would react. The problem Is the hypocrisy on the left, when Prime ministers gets caught in blackface they acknowledge it was wrong but all is forgiven with conversation and apologies... after all he's one of us he's a champion of diversity but if your clearly conservative the punishment has to be immediate exile. Our pm was also accused of groping women but never suffered a consequence like Patrick Brown did, this double standard is very dangerous. If your a moderate or even slightly to the right there's a real danger of this happening to you. Extremely dangerous road we are on if my charter rights are judged by the Twitter mob.
  8. I'd love to save the planet but I'm to busy trying to keep up in the hamster wheel. To me that's the biggest factor, I'm not a denier but If I was it would be save myself from guilt of my carbon footprint. If I was out there preaching the end is near... well then what am I going to do about it? Sadly nothing because I'm caught up in that societal hamster wheel just like everybody else. A greener zero emission earth will happen when it's profitable
  9. The old formula for a fish with average girth was length x length x length divided by 2500 for walleye and 3500 for pike.
  10. I know nothing about the area but you should contact Pete Leduc on Facebook, he's a fly fishing guru of the Sudbury area and can point you in the right direction. Pike, bass and brook trout are his targets of choice being a fly guy but I'm sure he has the where, when and how for walleye too
  11. Wishing you a speedy recovery, hopefully you can wet a line this summer as well
  12. I would tread careful with this deal, I tried to read between the lines on the website and seen some red flags. Licensed lots? Annual fees for services? Sounds like a trailer park and if it is do they have approvals? I know it's unorganized townships they target but 75 unserviced lots on a water front would have a environmental impact. If it's a license vs deed or lease how's your investment protected? Sounds like they are more interested in the land investment part then actually giving back to the investors
  13. Unorganized townships are indeed cheap on taxes which I believe are paid direct to the province simular to leases to the mnr, however neighbouring municipalities which service unorganized residents for emergency services in some cases charge you directly for police and ambulance. Price wise the blind river area is far cheaper then north of the Sault, good places to look are kijiji, dignam land and recreationland.net
  14. The road into fushimi is gravel but kept up in excellent condition, there's a few lakes besides fushimi that one can access with good pike and walleye fishing. Pivabiska is the main lake close to town that sees the most traffic so I'm not sure how good it is, I know a lot of locals also travel south to the oba river or west to nagnagamis
  15. Missing your annual trip? That's just wrong. Hope it's not health related and just a hard schedule. If you find time this summer give me a shout may be I can help you out
  16. Percy is a helluva good bang for the buck as far as a Fly in goes in that area and I'm not sure what stingers rates are currently because Howard no longer owns it Pennocks bought it two years ago.
  17. I've caught them with bead head wooley buggers or leach patterns while fishing for trout. Always in August while fishing trout deep with sinking leader or split shot, pike were hitting them too. Awesome feeling catching the trifecta in on pool.
  18. Totally forgot about this place, I do remember it being in the radar more ten years ago then recently. I'm curious to hear reports as well, having said that the lodging looks nice and equipment looks good too at a decent rate.
  19. I'm sure first nations people had there struggles but we are all guilty of looking at them in the pre colonial era as primitive or the term " savages" . In reality there survival was based on a very intricate and tight woven community. Them being nomadic always knew where and when to relocate, the structures they used were crude at first glance but genius in reality. Society based on respect for the old and their knowledge and a communal nurturing of youth. The only difference I see from them and Europeans of the same era was the Europeans manipulated and changed their surroundings to suit them and first nations people were a part of their ecosystem.
  20. I would suggest finding a Goodman dealer, considerably less then Lennox and been working fine for me. They are not offshore crap either built in Texas I believe. My duct work and gas line were in place when I replaced mine, the 2 ton a/c cost $3800 and the 110000 btu medium efficiency cost 3700 installed. Both within the last 3 years
  21. Walleye central is a good archive if you use the search engine on lakes your considering, as far as asking the question in the general forum everyone will steer you towards the kenora area. Politics in that forum are evident, recently pasha lake cabins had a post removed for their ice fishing opportunities, Chris brock plugged my camp it to was removed but there's a ton of self promotion going on from some of the most frequent posters who also have camps and lodges in the lotw lac seul areas. They call it the Canada forum. I call it the lake of the woods forum.
  22. Amen brother! You hit it on the head, same here. The government gave these holes huge grants to give us rural folk reasonable service for telecom, internet and tv.... bell gives us the worst cell service of any of them, the data plans they have are a joke! My kids eat through that data in a day, then they have a data overage alert " click to continue" .... I had one bill for $1800 in one month! And now it seems like every time I turn on express view I have less channels then before and I only notice because they only take the channels I watched not the 300 channels of s##t
  23. Not much online at all, I did notice a slew of reviews on tripadvisor tho. All reviews were good for the base camp and fly ins, mostly great reviews on the operation, accommodations and experience with decent fishing. Looks like a good trip, not sure how they compare price wise to air Dale or white river air, American funds and no tax in the listed price would suggest a 7 day trip would be minimum $1200pp so it's not cheap
  24. I think the bear was startled by his sudden draw of the bow so knocking him over was a display of dominance, I think if he had of fired a bad shot and only hurt the bear he may have gotten more aggressive. Hard to say what the bear was thinking, I've had a few bad experiences with bears but nothing like that !
  25. Pasha lake had a spike camp on the jackfish river on the north shore not sure if they still operate it. Another drive to worth looking at is st Joesph, old post lodge is on the east side of the lake and there's a camp on pashkogan as well. St Joe is a great fishery with a lot less traffic then lac seul and its far better. Don't think you will have a hard time finding some big pike there.
