HAHA!
I went with an 'older' unit that was listed for $389 and paid $100 (Lowrance Mark-4) following this same idea... And yeas it was/is a "new" unit never been used
I've been living here (Lindsay) for 3 years now and the ice from the lock in town to Sturgeon Lake is never the best so might as well close it for safety. Yes it will freeze over but due to the constant flow under the ice I'd never try and walk on it even if it was open there.
Same but yeah it could be a good food source. Let's just hope that what the shrimp are eating isn't a 'take away' from another and causes a decline to population of fish in said lakes.
I have always liked shrimp looking and or coloured baits on the ice for pan fish...
Might be able to cast still I fear with the temps the way they are right now. Oh and it's snowing again as I type this... If I'm not working I'd be in too either casting from shore or standing on the ice.
I'm with sinker on this one for having hope to have safe ice then (and good fishing). Other lakes in the area the odds are you can still boat on if the temps don't drop.
Lunch, check. Clean the garage out so the truck can fit back in, check. Put the weight back in the back of the truck for the winter, check. Put the truck in the garage to make sure I made enough room, check. Nap time? About to check...
Those are the two lines I use as well. Back when a member had a e-store he asked the MFG of the Tuff-Line for me if the ice version was any different and they said no, smaller spool and costs more...
Best point there is the reel. I am planning to pick up another 1000 series shimano this week so when my kids are with me they have a good reel that I don't need to worry about. Most of my rod's are 28's due to hut size or set up in the hut
