  1. Most of them sticks Art look a tad heavy. But I thank you, and have added the site to my favorites for other reasons. I have eyed these as well and of recently had almost pulled the trigger on a first Daiwa made rod. I'll check these out at LeBarons if they have in them stock. They're 3 piecers eh! I hear ya... and in the past have traveled with 2-piece sticks in a rod tube too. But this I hope to actually fit in a bigger suitcase so to not become "extra" luggage, not take up too much extra weight. 2015 will see me working more in the Arctic but with likely little chances in time for fishing. However, should they arise, I'd like to be outfitted with one rod, a 3000 series reel spooled with 20lb braid, a little florocarbon for leaders, some snap swivels, spoons and a few jigs. A lightweight, compact travel kit. Like Fenwick stuff, always have. Will check these out too. Didn't know they made travel sticks. Never having had a 3 or 4 piece stick, just kinda wondering if folks out there have had any issues with them being weak or whippy, breaking down, or that kinda thing. Thanks as well doods!
  2. In a place called Galloway, at a camp called Ponderosa, the membership has dwindled. Being a sharp shooting, cold blooded citiot, with an appetite for straight whiskey and adventure, I was lucky to be invited along. Great read through and through Chris. A clean shot to well enjoyed bud! It's always a treat to catch hunt camp stories this time of year... and wonder if taking up hunting would be something to do. Thanks for sharing. Shane!!!
  3. Alaska!!! How can I not tell ya that I enjoyed this one Dave...
  4. Hey gang! Any suggestions or experience with the different travel rod options out there. Plan to pick something up in the future that would basically be used to cover a variety of species. Will go with a spinning outfit, preferably medium, rated 8-14lb kinda deal, with some good balls, bone and feel.
  5. Right on Terry! Haven't used one of those in years, but they're such lucky little lures though.
  6. I'd do what Dax says on this one... he kinda has some experience fishing muskies in and around those parts.
  7. That was good Joe. lol
  8. WoW!!! Solid pike.
  9. Think I'm using mostly VMC's now Mike... maybe with some Jig-A-Joes still thrown in the mix. Hear ya though dood... cold fall waters it's best to go lively.
  10. Thanks Alan and Chris. Make it happen Alan... http://www.bigfishpictures.net/arcticgrayling.php And this lake Chris, you're fishing natural lakers where natural bows swim as well? They're both gems to have in one body of water that's for sure. Your laker report was great... but if going back you will have to catch a bow.
  11. Just saw them on sale some place Brian. Usually they're around $100... sometimes a little cheaper, sometimes alot more. Had the SportCat... or might have been BlackCat??? Anyways, prefer the Buddy Heater for my 1-man Clam or 2-man Pop-up. Gives off enough heat for either. An 11-pound tank and you'll be good for days.
  12. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhwingggggggggggggggggggg!
  13. Great news by the sounds of things. Good luck with the new homestead.
  14. Sounds like garbage really. Flip-flopping days and nights on a weekly basis is not overly healthy, especially with quick turnarounds after your three nights on. A great full-time shiftwork sched is, 2 days, 2 nights, 5 off, repeat... and somewhere over a 16 week course there will be one "monkey" shift. That first half day sleep off of the night is perfect for getting chores and groceries done or, taking time with the family or fishing. Trying a new schedule as well... 14 to 42 days on... 28 to 56 days off. No repeat, just shuffle.
  15. "Tag along" Hehehe!!! "It was a bird!!!" Hahahahaha!!!!!!
  16. Quality Dave. And the salt and pepper goatee looks good on ya too!
  17. Congrats Bernie. It's great to hear this and even better for you. Friend of ours, George H... (big fella from Timmins) has been working up there several years now on the same rotation. He loves it!!! And, it's changed his and his family's lives in such an amazing way. Even though he's away now two weeks at a time, then home for two... it sure as heck beats driving truck 7 days a week 365 to make ends meet. This resonates with me most, as I had a job up north in that same boggy marsh land as you describe, but left it to move home. For my girls it's better here, but for work... well, I'm actually just back to working in Attawapiskat as well. Just like you... but not at the mine. Contracting in and out and the first trip back after four years was great. Didn't become restless here, instead never quite settled. Just don't really care for ER work quite as much as I did for extended role outpost, so now doing both to keep things interesting. Kudos for taking the big step, hope it works out for you, (it very likely will) and maybe one day we'll bump into each other in the Timmins airport passing through. Good luck.
  18. Nice to see a Jacques post, and as always... it's full of trout... and this one report plenty bass too.... and a couple Paul cameos. And sizzle fry fish... And Even Flow!!! Man, haven't heard that in eons and haven't listened to that album in ages. Favorite tune in your mix.
  19. That was my first snow machine too! But I was a big kid about 25. lol How old is that little gaffer? Great job saving up... $600!!! That's a shart-fart tonne of chores done around the house. lol.
  20. Damn short biters! And by the looks of the tail it got nibbled on purdy good too. Great little short report. Can't always bang 'em up but you did persevere through the less than ideal conditions.
  21. TERROVA 101 Terry!?!?! Serious KotaBalz dood!
  22. Awesome Shane. Big moment and memory for the young lad. Really hope you post more of your fishing and hunting exploits here.
  23. You are awesome Randy!!! Seriously just pure awesome bud! Had no idea about the bikes, but certainly know you're a stand-up guy.
  24. Blueberries and Windigo pike for Chris!!! Yes! Great fishing, even better adaptation! Coffee went a little cold drinking this report in Mike. It wasn't your snow either... just simply a great read from beginning to end.
  25. Thanks Mike. Will hope to revisit one day, possibly a Spring Bay / Johnston Island combo. Of course I'd want you there, if wanting to go. Now if you wouldn't mind... I think there's an amazing fishing report coming from you, and it's getting about time we see it here. Indian Head "just" re-opened Tyler. They'd been closed down awhile, and under new ownership are getting back up and running. Both lodges are very close and I understand quite different depending upon what you're looking to experience. It's possible that WFN or WildTV may be airing a "lodge" type show from Indian Head in the near future. That'd be something to watch! We'll have to talk soon too, would like to hear how things went for ya.
