It's mandatory for me. Although, some years I dodged the egg-to-arm bullet after I'd been ill one year, immediately after having received the shot. Only happened once. When pretty well ALL my peers and co-workers who are health professionals promote getting the flu shot, it's hard to say no. Exposed to EVERY kind of bug going around on a regular basis, flu shot or not it's rare I get more than one or two common colds a year. No bacterial infections at all since tonsillitis in 1992. Everything in an ER or clinic is coated with germs, there is no escaping when half the time even the food-on-the-go is eaten off dirty counter tops. Overall, I think most of my co-workers would admit as well, that they are rarely ill considering their equal exposure. Immune systems always in overdrive I'd bet. That point there makes me also think that, it's actually healthy for healthier people to be exposed. Eating a little mud and drinking from the school fountain is OK for kids. Builds character, and antibodies. Not Purell'in every 5-minutes is probably fine too. Stuff like that. Today's "superbugs" rarely exist if at all, on some of those "dirtier" Rez communities where I lived. Funny that is eh? Last week the Infection Control Nurse snuck up on me and I got jabbed. Fine with it. Had the stomach flu once or twice in 20 years of practice and it really does suck hard. For some kids, most elderly, or any immuno-suppressed patients, I'd recommend it but, not push it on anyone. Though for some extra precaution at work this flu season, I have implemented some new practices...

What to do if you catch a Canadian or world record fish
Moosebunk replied to LostAnotherOne's topic in General Discussion
"Probably" bonk it. Wouldn't matter what really. Even though, through IGFA to make any such claim of WWR fish you'd likely have to jump through some hoops. Caught a good many past and present record breaking longnose gar though and haven't killed one yet, but only because I've seen at least four, maybe a half dozen bigger than my biggest. Caught a sheephead exceeding the current record, but was also in the boat with Aaron the day he caught and released his 27.5lb'er, and that in my mind is the biggest Ontario Record sheepie. And over the years in Moose Factory, there have been a number of fallfish which would have smashed the current record. But these species mean little to the angling world, and besides the gar, when that Ontario record 25+ is caught I might take my first one, even despite the WWR being around 50 or more pounds. It's the bass, walleye, muskie and maybe even a number of the trout (possibly pike) which are the one's to beat for any sort of glory in the books and padding in the pocket. The muskie, speck or laker would be my preference. -
Getting the Bravo seat re-uphosltered then plan to mount it back on me skidoooo. Otherwise might need some minnows come March when ice fishing will likely begin this year.

Both a half hour down the road. East end has SAIL. West end will have Cabelas & BassPro, & "The Garage." Yay, we're winning over here.

It took three years and 9 days, but I finally conquered ,,,,,,

Thems are some kinda rods there Mike. And in a small way you're kinda right with wanting something great like that. Checked out the TFO's Tactical and Gary Loomis Sig. Series this morning, and Fenwicks Methods. Not sure what yet, but there's time still on this decision.

Palomar knot Cliff? This is rare but when I started using it at first, I was still tying the Trilene knot. It would slip out... and so will improved clinch sometimes.

PowerPro! And Simon, for your purposes, tie leaders to braid. Nothing else required. Use 50 or 65lb on a reel that size, don't forget a few wraps of mono backing before the braid, let the reel take care of the fish power.

Do think of late, about the considerable amount of time spent "connected" online. His perspective is his own but it is close to where many are likely at... sometimes included! Though I will add, without social media and the forums, many of us would be stuck in front of a TV instead. It is as much an entertainment as it is routine obsession. Must keep fishing or otherwise, my arse will mold into this chair upon which I sit.

Most of them sticks Art look a tad heavy. But I thank you, and have added the site to my favorites for other reasons. I have eyed these as well and of recently had almost pulled the trigger on a first Daiwa made rod. I'll check these out at LeBarons if they have in them stock. They're 3 piecers eh! I hear ya... and in the past have traveled with 2-piece sticks in a rod tube too. But this I hope to actually fit in a bigger suitcase so to not become "extra" luggage, not take up too much extra weight. 2015 will see me working more in the Arctic but with likely little chances in time for fishing. However, should they arise, I'd like to be outfitted with one rod, a 3000 series reel spooled with 20lb braid, a little florocarbon for leaders, some snap swivels, spoons and a few jigs. A lightweight, compact travel kit. Like Fenwick stuff, always have. Will check these out too. Didn't know they made travel sticks. Never having had a 3 or 4 piece stick, just kinda wondering if folks out there have had any issues with them being weak or whippy, breaking down, or that kinda thing. Thanks as well doods!

In a place called Galloway, at a camp called Ponderosa, the membership has dwindled. Being a sharp shooting, cold blooded citiot, with an appetite for straight whiskey and adventure, I was lucky to be invited along. Great read through and through Chris. A clean shot to well enjoyed bud! It's always a treat to catch hunt camp stories this time of year... and wonder if taking up hunting would be something to do. Thanks for sharing. Shane!!!

Alaska!!! How can I not tell ya that I enjoyed this one Dave...

Hey gang! Any suggestions or experience with the different travel rod options out there. Plan to pick something up in the future that would basically be used to cover a variety of species. Will go with a spinning outfit, preferably medium, rated 8-14lb kinda deal, with some good balls, bone and feel.

Right on Terry! Haven't used one of those in years, but they're such lucky little lures though.
-
I'd do what Dax says on this one... he kinda has some experience fishing muskies in and around those parts.
-
That was good Joe. lol

WoW!!! Solid pike.

Think I'm using mostly VMC's now Mike... maybe with some Jig-A-Joes still thrown in the mix. Hear ya though dood... cold fall waters it's best to go lively.

Thanks Alan and Chris. Make it happen Alan... http://www.bigfishpictures.net/arcticgrayling.php And this lake Chris, you're fishing natural lakers where natural bows swim as well? They're both gems to have in one body of water that's for sure. Your laker report was great... but if going back you will have to catch a bow.

Just saw them on sale some place Brian. Usually they're around $100... sometimes a little cheaper, sometimes alot more. Had the SportCat... or might have been BlackCat??? Anyways, prefer the Buddy Heater for my 1-man Clam or 2-man Pop-up. Gives off enough heat for either. An 11-pound tank and you'll be good for days.

Great news by the sounds of things. Good luck with the new homestead.

Sounds like garbage really. Flip-flopping days and nights on a weekly basis is not overly healthy, especially with quick turnarounds after your three nights on. A great full-time shiftwork sched is, 2 days, 2 nights, 5 off, repeat... and somewhere over a 16 week course there will be one "monkey" shift. That first half day sleep off of the night is perfect for getting chores and groceries done or, taking time with the family or fishing. Trying a new schedule as well... 14 to 42 days on... 28 to 56 days off. No repeat, just shuffle.

Well it,s a start and ran into a great board member.
