If ya couldn't park on the ice there'd be even more vehicles left idling in the streets around Simcoe's shoreline... and more townspeople lobbying to put up signage.
-
PM me a list of any specific questions. I've fished it (and stayed 6 days) along with the two connecting lakes Magiskan and Bateman.

Again bud, sorry I can't. You know I wanted to try and get together this year but the offer came a little late in the game. Understandable given your circumstances. I can't break other committments now. Answered ya quick the other night as I had Stevie Zebco down from Moose Factory and we were scheming some fun. Have a blast bud. And any fence sitters oughtta know... Wayne is the man! Great host, great guy, with a great pad on the big lake of Temagami.

Fantastic report man. Keep yer chin up and fish on the ice. Super pics too...

Nice to see ya out and beating on those awesome whities. Great sled mods too. You're unstoppable in the slush.

I read much of that... WOW!!! Good points both sides, overwhelming majority at that site support their obvious agenda. It should be applauded that the group exists and people are showing support there, otherwise all that's left is the OMNR and NOTO who believe the opposite it seems. Mulling it over... it's in the best interest of citizens and resource users that accesses established on Crown Lands not be accesses governed by any people other than all of those who pay for the Crown or I guess even have signed Treatied right & jurisdiction. If new areas are to be opened up in the name of any business (ie, recreation, forestry, mining) then closure of such areas shouldn't be an after-thought... it should have been considered before development occurred. It bugs me to know that Crown Land often appears owned by the highest bidder or whiniest people, and not the majority who pay everyday for it.

I haven't fished with any great quantity of OFC'ers... but some real quality. Just solid... like the huge hearted Wayne and DanC, and the adventurous passionate trib trio of Solo, Bill and Paulus. Thanks guys, some great time on the water but never enough of it.

My buddy and I were packing up when he says to me, "that guy is into a good one." You and your friends handled it well and had it down the hole in no time. I saw you hold it up for the pic and thought... Great fish... and geez, guess we should have set-up 50 yards in that direction. Congrats dood! That's what we do it for right there. -
Cabelas has them on for $69.99... $103 with duty, shipping and taxes in. But I bet you need it yesterday don't ya. lol.

"What to do in Montreal?" Ummmm... dinner & drinks, peelers, ecstasy, rave, breakfast, sleep and repeat.

Haha... enjoyed that video... Ashame it'll dirty the lake really...

Right ON bud!!! Congrats. Now... borrow or steal a pair of skates and find a frozen pond to get the 30 years of kinks out.

Serious Problems Loom for Attawapiskat's Pike & Walleye!!!!
Moosebunk replied to DRIFTER_016's topic in General Discussion
Those will be great Dave. If the Skat fish hit'em like they will on the Moose, my bet is the white & red and the yellow & red. You got soooooo much more winter time to tie some more up. Hehe! -
http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/products/rods/salmon_steelhead/Clarus_Salmon_Steelhead_Casting.html Great rod. The medium is rated for 8-17lb test with a moderate action. Usually used for casting, I've used it on the rigger, with planer boards on BOQ, for trolling Great Bear Lake lakers, and for casting to arctic char and big pike. Very versatile and they'll serve ya well.

2000 in Attawapiskat I recored every patient seen for 18 months. 1067. Age, diagnosis, treatment. 2002 ... patients out the window... the Fishing Journal began... First entry was my first day on the North French River. Reads like this... 1. Date - Monday May 20th, 2002. 1400-1830 hrs 2. Company - John P 3. Weather - Sun & cloud, around 10C, windy. 4. Moon - First Quarter 5. Water - 8-14 feet, cold, fast, stained. 6. Location - North French @ Trappers Camp. 7. Fish - Walleye 8. Gear - (not gonna say, it's embarrasing..) 9. Tactic - casting bottom bouncer with Floating Rapala, slow retrieve thru large eddy. 10. Catch - 3 walleye. John 5 walleye. The odd time in the journal after the catch, something interesting about the day may get recorded. Last entry in there from December 23rd 2010 reads like... Day 96. BOQ. Mike-P. Walleye. 6 for 7. Baits - yada yada yada. The journal simplified after the move south, rather than give it up. There's only about two pages left to fill sadly... completing 2011 will mark 10 years logged. If people have the time and interest, and can stay motivated to keep up with it... it really helps improve your fishing. There weren't online benchmarks or other online anglers fishing where I lived before. No reports to look back on. Journaling allowed insight, a measuring stick, and the ability to compile cool stats at the end of the year. I'd almost like to revisit the North French after having filled a tackle box with only the things that have caught fish in the past. Then, choose a week period, moon phase, whatever, that has historically proven to be best time and go fish using the tactics that worked. Pictures and online reports do well to seal it in memory somewhere too. And what Mike said... Most times you get an instant mental picture of the day and it's a nice trip down memory lane. Out fishing is our happy place... the more places to visit when you're not fishing, the happier we'll be.

Pretty much same set-ups I used too. Just didn't need the sonar. My buddy up there needs to adapt his fishing to how we know it. He often goes home fishless. 12-13 years I figure the north will be calling me back. You're in a good place Dave and you know it.

Leafs halfway report???? Halfway to the bottom? Haven't they always been there? Are they sinking into the earth's crust now? OK... just fun. Keep yer shirts on!
-
Incredible stuff man! I didn't realize you had that awesomeness in ya... now I know and won't forget. Solid 2010.
-
Some great pike Dave. Sleek. Betcha that lake will get another visit, and they should fatten up too in the coming while. Just cause I got a bud out there, I gotta ask a couple... what do you use for bait, or what's best up there? Do you use a flasher at all too? I'll keep an eye out for the annual winter laker tour you do.
-
Dano the man will be up and doing your dishes again in no time Wayne. Positive vibage sent via the mind wave. All the best in recovery from.... well.... all of it.
-
Quite enjoyed that man. You sure got out with a tonne of different folks in different places. All adds up to experience. 2011 must be something you're looking forward to. I'll be keeping an eye out for HD reports as always.... good luck.
-
Jamie. Cool year for ya bud. The show. The atlantics... WOW! Good luck in the 2011.

I love how big kids heads are. Great idea keeping the helmet on during the fishing. My youngests first time... she could have fallen through a 10-inch hole, your little guy would be safe as the helmut would stop him. lol. Great post Limey. Enjoy the rest of the season.
