  1. 2.5 oz should be way more weight than what is necessary, unless you're talking heavy current or water deeper than 20-25 feet. I like to make sure the worm is threaded on straight (don't 'ball' it on the hook). I try not to go any faster than 2.0 mph. I've always preferred single blade, single hook harnesses, even in dirty water. After a few trips you'll realize how easy it is, but there's also a million ways to refine your technique.
  2. How about smart? With the price of braid, there's no point in filling the hole spool, especially when targetting fish where long runs are a non-issue. I always fill the quarter of my spool with whatever 8-10 lb mono i have lying around.
  3. Good job! I made it into the company I work for through a temp. agency as well, unforunately.
  4. Still waiting to receive pictures of my 50" er from a friend caught this opener.
  5. I had no idea they were playing. How were they? Really enjoy these guys
  6. Nice. Choosing to fish a river was a smart idea today, but man the fish were active.
  7. It's a brown. I've also never caught a brown with red spots? [when not in spawning mode]
  8. Wow, that speck is a monster, and a beautiful brownie to boot.
  9. Only calling for scattered clouds and rain on saturday? You guys are wimps.
  10. Awesome! I have fished a couple rainbow lakes in the area in the winter and have yet to dial them in like you clearly have.
  11. Walleye is fishing is tough {I've never done well} but apparently can be good and it produces a lot of big muskies by the sounds of it.
  12. That is some awesome fishing, and great footage to boot. Didn't know the pike population was so healthy in st. clair.
  13. Very cool story. Walleye that size are usually bigger than what I would keep anywhere else, but on Quinte they're pretty well ideal. Some days it's tough to find any that are smaller than that.
  14. Brown trout are of European origin. In Ontario, they were pretty much only stocked in the great lakes region, but I recall seeing a few lakes in central and north-eastern ontario that have been stocked with brown trout. Someone even told me that one or both of the Jocko's were stocked with browns?
  15. This area hardly even has a visible trail once the underbrush comes up, yet I still happen upon garbage bags and pieces of furniture... Let me know if you're serious about picking up a fly combo...I'll be selling the one I caught these fish on in a week or two.
  16. That thing is FAT!
  17. Those are some excellent brownies!
  18. Good fishin but where's the tourney sign for team 3 on the catfish?!?!?!
  19. Asking for handouts won't get you too much respect in these parts. Besides, there's nothing more rewarding than doing your homework and finding your own little piece of heaven...and yes, there are hidden jewels in the area. Put your time in and you will find fish, but please respect the resource! I have never kept resident trout from the area, as I have seen their disappearance even in the short few years that I spent in the area.
  20. Look at maps, and do your homework. You will find fish.
  21. Good goin'! We should meet up some time for a troutin session
  22. Sweeeeet. All in a days work...
  23. Nice stretch of river, and some beauty troots!
  24. Great scenery, great fish. Troutastic report
  25. Got out for some small stream speckles this weekend. With low, warm water and hot, hot air, I was surprised to find fish so active, but they were bangin'! Extensive bush whacking was in order, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Keeps those pesky people away. The horse flies on the other hand... As per usual, the faster, riffle water produced most smaller fish while plugging away at deep slow log jams, waiting to hit that perfect cast was usually the ticket for the bigger specimens. Black or brown bead head nymphs free-drifted under a small indicator brought all fish to the bank. Missed 2 real hogs while poppin' a muddler right before sundown. Excuse to go back I suppose Anyone who has fished small specks will agree that keeping a small net with you is crucial to properly handle trout. Next on the list is to acquire a smaller, shorter 2 or 3 wt. to get into some spots I haven't yet been able to penetrate with my 6 wt.
