  1. Brookies definitely love sticklebacks, in many lakes they will make up a large part of their diet. I absolutely smoked walleye on mud minnows a couple times this winter on Nipissing. Definitely dont be afraid to try them. We were catching 3-5 eyes per minnow too. Wont see that with a shiner.
  2. My 08 Merc 15 hp 2 stroke has always done that, and its had two impeller replacements since ive owned it. It will pump hard when im at speed but at idle or trolling it will just sputter intermittently.
  3. Looks like an amazing place. Did you stay at a lodge or did you bring a guide with you to an outpost?
  4. My wish came true. I will have open water for (qc) trout opener this friday
  5. There is no snow left man
  6. Thx Simon. I drove a couple hrs south to find that open water. Just went ona tour of my local lakes and everything is 95% iced up. My local opener is next Friday and Ill be on open water, but itll be real cold.
  7. Nice brownie. They like those bright colours no matter the conditions it seems
  8. Kipawa, Nipissing and Trout lake are all open, Temagami i imagine is either open or a day or two away from being open. The park will be good by next weekend.
  9. I always watch your videos. Cant believe how far into spring you guys are over there already.
  10. Love spring pannies. Those gills are just pure muscle.
  11. Lots of open water in Hali.
  12. All of Aaron's content he's put out this winter has been amazing. His best stuff yet!
  13. Wont be seeing any amount of open water anywhere in the park until early next week at the earliest
  14. And now i know where to catch walleye in brantford and so does thousands of others. Spots were burned, feelings were hurt, nobody wins when you post oos pics from fragile urban fisheries regardless of your intentions.
  15. Snappers are nowhere near being a threatened species... I see hundreds of them a year without even looking, and I've never met a single person in my life that ever actually harvests them. Doesn't seem so ridiculous to me. I'd be happy to try it actually.
  16. They can be absolutely anywhere, from deep main lake drops to mud flat bays. Start trolling everywhere and pay attention to the kind of water you start getting bites and repeat it.
  17. Great brown, I'm jealous! Been tuning everything up last couple days but realistically we're still 2 weeks away from any open water prospects here.
  18. The ice usually comes off the lakes around here late April/early May lol, James Bay will be a few weeks later. They will be shallow, the water will be ice cold.
  19. But it has never been legal to bring in live bait from another province, so the first time you go to ask someone in a tackle shop you will be told what the rules are.
  20. In bold letters it says "PROHIBITED FROM APRIL 1ST, 2017 EXCEPT FROM DECEMBER 20, 2017 TO APRIL 1, 2018". They decided to change the regulation at some point last summer. Dead bait fish are only allowed during the winter. Period. No exceptions.
  21. As of this year, you cannot use dead bait fish during open water season. Zero exceptions.
  22. That's a new one for me. I'll have to try that next winter, dead minnows still allowed in winter months here. Saltines work excellent for walleye, but it can really depend on what you're using. There's some store bought salties I've seen that were waaaaay oversalted and dried up, which would be pretty ineffective, but once you get half decent at making your own, they work excellent.
  23. Trails are still open? Were fishing around Latchford tomorrow, almost waist deep snow in the bush around there still.
  24. Callander to Powassan has very little left in the bush. Hali might have some up in the higher areas closer to the park, but down closer to the Kawarthas I can't imagine there being much.
